  1. There is no new driver for win2003 , it is only for XP.
  2. I have got win2003 server installed on my laptop Dell Latitude D600 (Pentium M), I have got two NICs, built-in NIC card (Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller), and wireless Dual Band 1450 (I did not use the wireless, I disabled the Radio for it), I tried to connect (Broadcom 570x) to internet via our LAN at my office, It did not work, 1- I thought the problem with cable, I have changed the cable, still the same problem. 2- I have changed port , still the same problem (My Colleague can access internet without any problem, i.e. there was no problem with our LAN). 3- I can see my NIC in device manager, It was working before without any problem. 4- I uninstalled driver for the NIC card, and installed again, still same problem. 5- This is the result of ipconfig: Microsoft Windows [Version 5.2.3790] © Copyright 1985-2003 Microsoft Corp. C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>ipconfig Windows IP Configuration Ethernet adapter WLAN 1450 Dual Band: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Ethernet adapter Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Autoconfiguration IP Address. . . : 169.254.129.230 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : Note: Just to eliminate the possibility of the problem From the device manager I tried to uninstall the NIC card, and it has been uninstalled successfully, but when I restarted the PC , it has been recognized again by default, how can I installed completely, without being recognized by PC again?
  3. The problem has been solved when I ticked the box of the 'Network Load Balancing', under 'Components checked are used by this connections' in the 'Intel PRO properties' windows. But why do the other PCs work without checking (ticking) this option ?
  4. No, I have not. But I doubted that the problem with the driver, because I have got 15 PCs all the them identical, they are working fine, some with XP OS and some with win2k server and other with win2003.
  5. Yes I can see both of them under W2K server as well win2003 (obvious). it used to work with me before, without any problem. I do not why this happened!!!!!
  6. I have got Desktop IBM P4 with two OSs (Win2000 Server and Win 2003 server) I have got two NIC cards : Intel Pro (Built-in), and D-link (PCI) I assigned statically two different IP addresses for both NICs and for Both OSs. If I boot Win2003 server, from the cmd screen and by using : ipconfig / all, I can see IP addresses for both NIC cards. But If I boot Win2000 Server, from the cmd screen and by using : ipconfig /all, I can not see IP addresses for both NIC cards, I can see IP address for D-Link only ( I can not see IP address for Intel Pro). Is there any reason for that ?
  7. I have got this scenarion : One Win 2003 server, and three cleints (2XP+1 win2003). I tried to enable telent session on win2003 server, and I tried to telnet from two clients (XP and 2003) to the server. 1- I received this message in cmd screen in XP: Welcome to Microsoft Telnet Client Escape Character is 'CTRL+]' You are about to send your password information to a remote computer in Internet zone. This might not be safe. Do you want to send anyway(y/n): a- If I type in "Y" I receive this : Telnet server could not log you in using NTLM authentication. Your password may have expired. Login using username and password Welcome to Microsoft Telnet Service login: when I entered for administrator (username:admin, password:forum),,,,,I received this screen: *================================================= ============== Welcome to Microsoft Telnet Server. *================================================= ============== F:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.DC1.000> b- If I press Return Key (not "Y"), I receive this : Welcome to Microsoft Telnet Service login: In both cases I have to type in : username and password. 2- I received this message in cmd screen in 2003: a- If I type in "Y" I login directly !!!!!(see output 1/a) *============================================ Welcome to Microsoft Telnet Server *============================================ F:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.DC1.000> b- If I press Return Key (not "Y"), I receive this : Welcome to Microsoft Telnet Service login: Why with windowsXP, I was asked about username and password in both cases, while in win2003 only in one case (2-a)? 3- When I create user on the server, what should I configure for that user to be able to telnet from remote computer to the server (I have got no problem if I used username and password form administrator)?
  8. Dear All Half duplex, means we cann't transmit and receive at the time, it should either send or receive, it can not be both at same the moment. Now with MSN messenger or Yahoo, why cann't we talk at the same time? Is it because of half duplex technique? or something elase? Thank. I am using ADSL connection with 256 kpbs with wireless NIC card and normal dialup. OSs is are windows 2000 Pro and WinXP Pro.
  9. I have got this scenario 1- My Desktop (PC1) at university's campus windows XP. 2- My laptop (PC2) at home with windows XP as well, which is connected to internet (dialup modem). 3- My Desktop (PC3) at home with Win2000 Pro connected to internet via ADSL router linksys WAG54G. I do not have any firewall on both PC1 and PC2, and PC3. 1-From PC3 (desktop at home with ADSL) , I can ping remote desktop (PC1), and I can ping www.google.com 2-From PC2 (laptop at home with Dialup), I can not ping PC1, I tried to ping www.google.com, it did not work. If I cancelled dialup connection , and I connected laptop (PC2) to ADSL router , I can ping remote desktop (PC1) without any problem , and I can ping www.google.com as well Any clue about this issue ?
  10. From cisco curriculum : " The bootstrap protocol (BOOTP) operates in a client-server environment, and only requires a single packet exchange to obtain IP information. However, unlike RARP, BOOTP packets can include the IP address, as well as the address of a router, the address of a server, and vendor-specific information ". 1- Does RARP not operate in client-server environment? 2- Does ARAP require more than one packet? 3- what does this mean : "However, unlike RARP, BOOTP packets can include the IP address, as well as the address of a router, the address of a server, and vendor-specific information".
  11. I have got this scenario. I can access network printer which has private ip address 10.50.63.2, when I am on the same network( within same campus) How can I access this printer remotly (via internet or WAN) ? how can I figure out what is the real ip address because as you know the ip addess will be translated via NAT ? Thanks
  12. Thanks for your reply What should I do to configure name resolution in XP?If I have name resolution, then I should not have same workgroup, because as long as they are in the same network, and if we have name resolution, then they should see each other,,,Am I right? No it was not straight away, and as I mentioned in my early reply:
  13. I have 3 PCs on the same network (they can ping each other), 1-First Computer called comA. 2-Second computer called comB. 3-Third computer called comC. When all PCs have the workgroup name called "home", I have got no problem with PCs, they can see each other. But the problem starts when one of these PC have different workgroup name, say school. My query, Should all PCs have the same workgroup name to see each other(which I do not thing so), or the same network addresses are enough (which I believe)? By the way, I restarted PC more than one times Thanks
  14. Thanks again, I wish if I can talk to you face to face, this will help me to clarify many things. Now I said in one of my previous response: "In each side(head) of Disk there are numbers of Tracks, within each tarck there is number of sectors (normaly 63 sectors),,,,Am I right?" Could you please let me know how this is difference from the pharagraph that I mentioned it from the book?
  15. Thanks agian yes you are right Now one question left I thing you forgot it, could you please let me know about your idea:
  16. I like this discussion because it will rich my knowledge I will go thorug what you said, and if I have any unclear thing , I will let you know. But quickly I am going to ask about few things just to be clarified Do you mean by groove track? If so, then I guess you have to do (10-2)/1=8 ? Could you please let me know if you agree with this concept or not?: My understanding of the above is still: That each track is consisting from sectors, but with this technique (zoned-bit recording), the outside track contain more sectors than those on the inside. But for most disk drives-may for simplicity-they use same number of sectors for inner and outer tracks.
  17. Could you please tell me what is nLite? What should I do to be able to access these type of files?
  18. Yes you are right, It is my fault , I should have put it in software issue
  19. I saved all my files with extension mht (Single file Web page), now I am trying to access these files but I am getting error message when I open them,,,,why? This is the error message: The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for might have been removed or had its name changed. ________________________________________ Please try the following: • Open the res://C:\WINNT\system32\shdoclc.dll/syntax.htm#mhtml:file:// home page, and then look for links to the information you want. • If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly. If you still cannot open the page, click the Internet Explorer Search button to look for similar sites. Internet Explorer This is the address that I am getting in the title bar: mhtml:file://D:\CD_2\US%20sinks%20UN%20resolution%20on%20Yassin\US%20sinks%20UN%20resolution%20on%20Yassin.mht I saved heaps of my important data as mht,,now I can not access them!!!
  20. Thanks jaclaz, the reason for saying this in my previous response: link:http://biology.ncsa.uiuc.edu/library/SGI_b...#LE21428-PARENT And in the book "Operating System concept" by Silberschatz page 33: The surface of platter is logically diveded into circular tracks, which are subdivede into secotrs." also see this picture: http://www.pctechguide.com/04disks_Construction.htm I am looking to your comment just to clarify me. Thanks
  21. Thanks Please correct me if I am wrong: In each side(head) of Disk there are numbers of Tracks, within each tarck there is number of sectors (normaly 63 sectors),,,,Am I right? Now the URL that I gave you he mentioned that the MBR on side0 (head0) and the partition table on side1 (head1), in this case he can not say gap 62 sectors because both of them not on the same side (head),,,correct me if I misunderstood. Second: Why did not you say that Track 0 or Track 1 or Track 20 each of them has 63 sectors, the 1st sector in Track 0 is for MBR? Correct my understanding if I am wrongThird: Why did you assume that the disk consist of sectors only? what about the tracks?why did not you say : that the one head of disk instead of disk only, has n number of tracks and in each track there is 63 sectors?
