  1. Yes, it ran from memory which wasn't the problem, when it was running it ran fine but when it came to uninstalling it was when it became a big pain in the a$$, it was a roll of the dice, sometimes it was easy but most times you pulled the hair from your head ....... EVEN if you followed the uninstall directions on their website. I would dread uninstalling it then having to reboot, knowing full well there was a 90% chance of getting a black screen on reboot. 99.9% of the time sfc scans / system restores wouldn't work to recover from the black screens on reboot when trying to uninstall, and when they did the system was too unstable to use so all one was resorted to was either a pc refresh or reset. I'm just so glad to be done with it. Doesn't really matter to me, I only run custom themes made by a hand full of people, as long as they run I have no problem with it, it's not like I download themes from all over the place.
  2. I've got to say that UxThemeBypass is MILES better than UxStyle. I was getting tired of getting a black screen on reboot and having to do a pc refresh or sfc scan every time I had to uninstall UxStyle
  3. I noticed that the bat file above says "For Windows 10" does it also work on 8.1?
  4. The link you posted above doesn't seem to work, when you go to the page and click the download link all I get is a page of mixed characters not the .7z file? I even tried "saving file as" ....... what gives? UPDATE: - Never mind, had to download with Waterfox, seems IE didn't like the link for whatever reason.
  5. I own a licensed copy of AeroGlass and I downloaded a version of 1.3.1 a while back dated 12/21/2014, just downloaded a newer version of 1.3.1 dated 04/07/2015 which probably has fixes for Windows 10 I am assuming but more importantly I understand it contains a UxThemebypass? Before I go and install this version how does it compare to say UxStyle and others? Because I can say with certainty that UxStyle is still not really stable on 8.1 and one can have problems uninstalling it sometimes, if I can use the UxThemebypass by Big Muscle without headaches I would be more than glad to ditch UxStyle.
  6. Here is a link to the January 2015 Windows 10 webcast. Before you say this can't and won't happen, watch it. This my friends is EXACTLY what they have planned. http://news.microsoft.com/windows10story/
  7. Did you not watch the webcast last week? Be prepared because Microsoft is definitely moving towards a pay as you go model once they get the masses on board with Windows 10. This is why they are "giving the OS" away, besides, why else do you think they are trying their hardest to build an OS per user feedback?
  8. I posted this over at The Windows Club also due to an article they wrote about the latest Windows 10 build, I'd like to see what kind of feedback I get here too.... The article can be read here : http://news.thewindowsclub.com/windows-10-as-a-service-70823/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheWindowsClub+%28The+Windows+Club%29 My response to the article: "Well, MS has said Windows 10 will be a free upgrade to those running Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 for the first year after it's release. What they have not made clear is if you upgrade within that first year and have to reformat and reinstall after the initial first year is it still going to be free? Windows as a service? I really am not sure how much I am going to like that, I don't like the idea of my OS running in the cloud. This essentially means that MS is moving towards Windows becoming a pay as you go service where everyone will be on the same OS computing in the cloud, yes it will be easier for them to distribute updates and patches for the OS but there are too many drawbacks to the scenario. First being as the end user will lose control of their system and MS takes over the drivers seat, if you don't pay for the update or patch or monthly bill I can see systems being locked or shut down. Second, in the event of a virus outbreak ..... everyone gets infected not just a handful of users. Third, MS basically will have the keys to your system, privacy will no longer be an issue because they have any and all information on you whenever they need it whether it be with or without your knowledge. In short I can basically see all pc's, handhelds and tablets basically becoming empty boxes that are controlled by MS, pay for the service and you'll be fine, don't pay and your shut off, just like if you don't pay your power bill, you'll be sitting in the dark. As I type this I can only see the worst and it doesn't look good. Another point I'd like to touch on is when installing Windows 10, which I have been doing in a virtual environment. I forgot where I seen it but someone posted a screenshot somewhere that when installing Windows 10 as a clean install, if you need to revert back to your previous version say like Windows 8.1, it will not let you access your recovery partition. If true, this is just another way of MS forcing everyone towards 10 by destroying your recovery partitions." EDIT: I found it here and is true if the end user does not pay attention : http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_install/how-to-downgrade-from-windows-10-technical-preview/aeee58c9-de3f-47b4-9633-bbd02bae122e "The fine print, before installation was that you will not be able to go back to windows 8.1 without a usb / dvd recovery disk. They repeated it several times stating we should make sure to have that if we ever want to go back to previous window because we will NOT be able to go back." IMO, this is pretty sh!tty that they do this, one should be able to go back using their own recovery partition if need be. Windows 10 may be an innovative OS with some nice features but upgrading to it is looking grimmer and grimmer with everything I read lately.
  9. Anybody here have a (working) multi-layered security setup to rival that one? --JorgeA Wow, talk about over kill. If your THAT paranoid, you might just as well disconnect and stay that way.
  10. Don't take this the wrong way, but I only asked the question because I was originally told that the problem was in fact with ONE and it would be corrected in the next version but when the problem still occurred in the new version I decided to ask again. Since I ported the theme over it is basically the only theme I run, that's how much I like it, so I did not realize that the other themes actually were displaying properly. You are correct, your themes actually do display correctly now with the new version of ONE but since the only HUD version you have released since Windows 8 and 8.1 has arrived is HUD Evolution and you had not released all the other colors in the HUD series for 8.1 yet I decided to port my own personal Windows 7 version of HUD Launch rather then keep bugging you about it constantly, there was no harm or foul intended. Launch is my favorite out of the whole series, I ported it for my own personal use, and I have not redistributed it. I wasn't asking for support, just a question, now that I know the answer I can correct the problems in the theme itself.
  11. Here are two examples 1. The Internet Explorer Save As dialog box. Note it does not only happen in IE, I also use Chrome and Waterfox and see the same thing on those browsers too. 2. Program Open dialogue box Just to confirm, I am using OldNewExplorer 1.1.0 Running Windows 8.1.1 - x64
  12. I use Aero Glass along with the other apps listed above on Windows 8.1 x64 and have the very same issues with white areas on the Save As/Open Window. I had noted this issue earlier in the thread and never got a response to it. Is this issue ever going to be addressed in OldNewExplorer?
  13. Been kind of wondering this myself, there have been no updates to this program since November of 2013, there also have been so many requests and bugs reported by members here but there seems to be no response from the programmer. I myself posted a question some time ago and never received a response from Tihly. I think we all may be better off if themer's would just start skinning the ribbon or if someone else that would actually work on it picked up the ball and ran with this program. Although the concept of the program is a good one, it doesn't look like this is going any further.
  14. If you look at the screenshot below, I am told that this is an OldNewExplorer glitch that is being worked out for v1.0.8.0? The problem is not theme specific nor Browser specific, it seems to only happen when you open browser dialogue boxes such as "save file as" , BUT if I reload the theme everything is ok for a little while then it reverts back to the white areas that are shown below.
  15. Get Error 403 forbidden when I try to download it Hey Grim ....... when are you going to release that badass HUD Red theme for Windows 8 / 8.1?
