I disagree, 98 works fine with 1GB of RAM. Even on my 2013 Core i3 laptop If it doesn't work for some reason (GPU drivers?), he simply takes out the RAM modules, and he's fine.

You can also delete the ESDI_506.PDR file in Windows/System/IOSUBSYS directory in Command Prompt in F8 menu after you install Windows. Either way, you'll revert back to 16bit realtime drivers (normally used in Safe Mode) which are slow. OR, switch the SATA mode to RAID, then you'll not need to do anything! It will not use the ESDI_506.pdr, and you'll simply have a unknown RAID controller in the Device Manager, and no IDE stuff. Still realtime drivers

Is the CD drive recognized in BIOS? Try switching in the same menu the OnBoard IDE controller to SATA + Sec IDE.

Go to the BIOS by pressing F2 while the computer boots up. Go to Advanced, then IDE Configuration, and set the OnBoard IDE Operation Mode to Compatible Mode.

There is no VIA VT6105 in my country available. And why is it better than RTl8139? I only need 100 Fast Ethernet.

Are there drivers for LAN and Audio for this MOBO? http://msi.com/product/mb/K9N_Neo_PCB_2.0.html#hero-specification I can have a nicely working Windows 98SE on this MOBO, but there's no LAN or Audio drivers. The LAN chipset is Vitesse VSC8601. The Audio chipset is Realtek ALC888. And yes, I know I can just buy a cheap Realtek RTL8139, and a cheap PCI sound card but that's no fun.

(I assume you use Windows 98 Second Edition.)
