I've been trying to put together a pc to run Windows 98SE in order to run a legacy program. I got it all together, then tried to install Windows. It seemed to be going well, and then it restarted after putting in the product key and it wouldn't load Windows. I could get it to boot into safe mode, but that doesn't do me much good. I also can't see my cd drive in safe mode, so I can't install the drivers that came with the motherboard. Here's all the hardware that went into the machine: Hard Drive:ST3402112AS - Seagate 40 GB SATA 1.5Gb/ s Hard Drive (7200 RPM) (not sure if you guys can see that) CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117392 Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157338&cm_re=MB_ASROCK%7c775I65G_R3.0_LGA775_865G-_-13-157-338-_-Product Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820159103 Floppy Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16821105001 Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817159042&cm_re=%2aPSU_COOLMAX_%7cCA-350_350W_RETAIL-_-17-159-042-_-Product CD Drive: SONY CRX225E 52x24x52 CD-RW INTERNAL IDE BEIGE BURNER DRIVE I've tried formatting the hard drive and reinstalling, as well as scanreg and a few other simple things like that (that I can't remember exactly what they are right now). Can anybody see where I went wrong? Or is there anything else I can try? I'm not that well versed in Windows 98 but any help would be appreciated.
