LC - What are those several other updates? When I installed the Nvidia GeForce FX5200 card with only DX8 installed, it still created all the missing DLL error messages. Also, if I can't get away from these errors, how do you get MSConfig from Win98 and install it in 95?

I did read the manual, that's how I knew it was the the J1 jumper. I just didn't know if the jumper was in the right position. Ok, since no one has commented on the BIOS settings I assume they are all correct?
-
Thx Jac, Yeah, I should take some time and study my camera manual

I haven't dealt much with BIOS settings except the boot sequence for loading operating systems. I would appreciate recommendations on these settings. These are the settings that are in place. Otherwise, they are physically the same. 466is is a Florida-TG. To confirm, look at the Chip for the Sound in the place on the Motherboard that your Florida-TG Document says it's at.From the "elhvb" website (link previously given) If all of this is confusing you, look here - http://www.cirrus.com/en/support/drivers/audio/OS21.html You will have to "physically" (visually) confirm your Chip Name. Thx Sub, Yes, it is the 4280 chip.

How can I tell if I have the TG motherboard or the TGA motherboard?

I have the Standard Universal PCI to USB Host Controller and the USB Root Hub in Device Manager. Now the loading box for the Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller is coming up requesting the openhci.sys file. Do I need that or should I ignore that? Also, another strange thing. I loaded the 4281 Crystal sound file and Sound Devices in Device Manager vanished. Both the 4280 and the 4281 files were executable.

Starting to remember 95's way of doing things, using programs to load things (add hardware, software) instead of just using executable files like windows has become. Got the 4280 sound in device manager without errors and usb in DM with no errors now. Neither of them work yet. Need to get Crystal 4281 set up now and go into the bios to check if usb is turned on. Anyone know how to get into the bios on this eMachine?

I just downloaded DCP and was reading the readme file, so tell me if I have this right. I am supposed to uninstall all my programs with drivers before using it? Also it recommends using a program called CAB befofe DCP, what is that? (O I see it's part of DCP)

I'm installing the onboard sound drivers now. When I install the Crystal Sound Fusion files it tells me to restart the cpmputer. After restart it asks for the driver. I give it the path to the driver and it asks for the Crystal Sound Fusion driver disk #1 that is provided by my computer manufacturer. (Which I don't have) I give it the path to the driver file on the C drive again and it says it can't find the files. Anyone know what I should do from here?
-
Yeah, I must have been thinking of the sound file. I am downloading all these drivers on my Win7 computer, putting them on cd and transferring them to my Win95 computer. Would it be better just to put my Win95 computer online and download them directly?

That's music to my ears

Driver Installation #20 was a smashing SUCCESS!! Thanks to Submix8c Onboard graphics came alive on restart. I adjusted the resolution to something like 840/440 and was adjusting screen position when screen went blank and wouldn't come back on. I think maybe the smorgasboard of drivers I fed this poor computer made it sick! So I'm doing wipe and clean install as we speak. Hopefully were on to something here

Does anyone know of a good driver cleaner for Win9x?
-
Get the .exe version. The MSI version will probably require Microsoft Installer 2.0 to be installed (not a problem because it works on 95 but it's yet another update to install ) Thx LC

Just download it, DOUBLE-CLICK it, it will ask WHERE to Unpack it to, and will proceed (AUTOMATICALLY) to run the Install (UNLESS you CANCEL the Install). I actually RAN and UNPACKED it on my NTFS (XP/2K3) OS and CANCELLED the Install (didn't I say that?). The files are currently sitting inside the FolderName I gave it to Unpack to. It is the OFFICIAL from ATI one (see the link?)!!! I had gotten it a LONG TIME ago when ATI was NOT owned by AMD! I have USED this one BEFORE!I had ALSO stated that I (maybe) have (on my HDD) the CORRECT files for your Sound. AFAICT, there are TWO chips for the SOUND - the CS-chip and the AC97-chip. I actually used the PW4031.ZIP file - you MUST UNZIP IT!!!! Get 7-zip and install it THEN Unzip! Point to the Folder and-or (whatever).INF Downloaded it, It is not a zipped file
-
Should I get 7zip exe or msi? lol, went back and read it, exe.
-
Good idea, I didn't think of that. I have add ons video and sound cards installed. I'll remove both of them and drivers. May have been causing problems.
-
The Rage Pro Turbo AGP 2X chipset is showing up in the Device manager now and is asking for Mach64 windows9x driver disk #2 and its also trying to accept the PW3041 Crystal Sound drivers but even though I give it the full path to the cd file it is not accessing it for some reason. I put a few of the drivers that would fit on a floppy and it found those but the next single driver wont fit on a floppy.
-
I did install DX8 but do not know where 95 hides those files, not in remove programs. Tried to install 8.1 but it rejects it. I'm not sure what file is the file you provided or what it is for, please elaborate. I'm continuing to try loading some more drivers tonight. Hope something works.
-
I don't know how to do that but I have several more drivers I'm going to try.
-
Do you actually get an error when you try to install them, or does it just say that in the documentation somewhere? If the documentation just makes this claim, I would try installing them anyway. I highly doubt that there is enough difference between DirectX 8.0a and 8.1 to keep a driver from working... If you do get some kind of error, see if there are any earlier versions of the video drivers. When I tried to load the graphics driver it tells me it has to have DX8.1.
