  1. Fortunately I found a better option. I found a Florida TG motherboard on ebay and should be here any day now. No more messing around with trying to get USB fixed. B)
  2. Having a hard time finding Adobe Flash Player 9.0.289.0 exe Anyone have this one? Also need the exe's for these: IE6 Java 6 update 7 Firefox 2.0.0.20 OK, managed to get Firefox
  3. To take a different rabbit trail, I found a website that sells and repairs motherboards. http://www.motherboardnow.com/Emachines-eTower-466is-Motherboard-System-Board-Replacement-3C40P1377578 All the USB ports on my emachine 466is motherboard and small front board are trashed and was looking for someone who could repair them or sold that motherboard. I sent an email a few days ago but haven't received a reply yet. Anyone know if this site is legit?
  4. This is the one I have. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.pcdistrict.com/modules/productcatalog/product_images/126068-dell-optiplex-gx150-7847.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.pcdistrict.com/dell-optiplex-gx150-prod126068.html&h=500&w=500&sz=57&tbnid=wzMsixTX4jQYWM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=90&zoom=1&usg=__djHO38qSCp8bkd2ZI1BzmJFGoRA=&docid=o9ICI0fYvq1ZhM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=06KdUZa_K5Pa9ATtjgE&ved=0CIUBEPUBMAY&dur=115 It's very similar to the Small Form Factor cpu but they call it the Small Desktop. It has the Pentium 3 997MHz. Got a 120GB drive on the way (prob in my po box now). What is a DDO? DVD-RW drive is a good idea, didn't know if they would work in these old machines. How do I know if I need a BIOS update?
  5. Ok, how about some suggestions?
  6. Does anyone have experience using a Sound Blaster card for Win98SE that produced high quality sound and ability to adjust the bass and treble?
  7. With the TeraByte Plus Patches you can use 512TiB to 4PiB depending on Logical Sector Size. Using just LLXX's 48-bit LBA patch or RLoew's patch for the same purpose, 2 TB (not 2 TiB), provided all partitions < 1 TiB. For onboard SATA drives, another of RLoew's patches may be needed, depending on the controller's manufacturer and model. This limit is 2TiB. The largest available drive under 2TiB is 2TB. The remaining 199GB can be accessed using a 2.5TB or greater Drive, but you will need Partitioning tools that ignore the reported size of the Drive. The 120GB drive will work for now since this computer is just for Win98SE games but if I outgrow it I will probably research what it takes to run a 500GB hard drive. Thanks for that info!
  8. What is the largest size hard drive I can use with Win98?
  9. Yeah, it is. Can you tell me if these programs would be good for 98SE? IMMC WIN98SE MICROSOFT PLUS 98! MSAA20_RDK WIN98SE MSBCKUP 98SE AVIRA NTFS FOR DOS_H98SE RP9 98SE SYSPLG98 USB20DRV 98SE
  10. Ugh! It is the X! Thanks for pointing that out to me. Actually the 16 is in the Win95 computer and the Live! was going to be for my Win98SE computer. Looks like I need to find a better card.
  11. hmmm never get to the page where it actually downloads. Am I clicking the wrong links?
  12. Another Sound Blaster Question. Where can I find the correct drivers for a Creative Labs SB0200 Sound Blaster Live! PCI sound card?
  13. Hey LC, do you have a list of updates, programs, IE and DX that Win98SE needs or should have? Do I need some kind of virus protection for it before getting on the internet with it? I don't know what version of IE comes with 98SE but I couldn't access some websites and was just bad.
  14. No, the HTML documents are just for reference. Have you checked the BIOS settings to verify that the onboard sound, etc is all turned on? Have you already added the other sound card? If so, you should remove it for this... Also if the onboard sound was turned on during your Win98 install, you may have to remove any "unknown devices" from the Device Manager in order for it to be redetected. Ah, yes plenty of unknown devices, I'll try that.
  15. Installed display driver for 128 Rage Pro, thats working. Installed onboard sound driver, that's not working. Not showing any conflicts in Device Manager with sound. Do those html documents in the sound driver folder need to be installed for the sound to work? Installed IE 6, so slow i uninstalled it.
  16. Yep, that is the one. Thanks for those links hmmm, the manual shows you 3 different versions of this computer. The Small Form Factor computer, the Small Desktop system and the Small Mini-Tower system. On ebay, the one I bought was listed as the SFF but mine is actually the Small Desktop system.
  17. Somewhere on the machine there will be a sticker with a letter/number code on it. Usually it is even labeled "Service Tag." This is a unique identifier for each machine. When you enter it at Dell's support site, it will automatically give you all of the downloads for that particular machine. See these: (I know your machine is older and will look different. ) If the sticker is missing, then it is usually encoded in the BIOS as well and can be read at the top of the screen there. Yes, there is a sticker on the bottom of the computer with the serial#, model#, and mfg date and the sticker on the back of the computer is the serial#. I'll check Dell site. Yes! It worked, serial # brings up my computer and all the downloads it needs except I've only seen XP drivers so far. Downloaded non designated drivers (chipset, HDD, floppy, network card) I'll see if I can get on the internet with these. Thx, LC
  18. What is a service tag?
  19. Well I'm kindof at a standstill working on my Win95 computer until my ethernet card comes in so I'm going to go ahead and start on my Win98SE computer. Just bought this machine couple of months ago, the hard drive was wiped and I installed Win98SE on it and it is a : DELL Optiplex GX150 (small desktop) 1Ghz Pentium 3 processor 512mb RAM 20gb HDD (going to have to upgrade that) ATI Rage 128 Pro graphics card Creative Labs SB0200 Sound Blaster Live! Was labeled as an Audigy 2 in the discount computer parts store I bought it from. 110w power supply Intel 815 E chipset Onboard ethernet port Right now I would like to just find the correct drivers for everything and get the internet working and install basic updates and programs needed. I plugged it in to my router but evidently it needs more stuff before it will connect.
  20. I will check on those. Not sure how to put them into DUN1.4 after I find them. I just skipped over those files during installation and the program loaded successfully. Thx
  21. I was loading Dial-up Networking 1.4 and it was asking for some files from the Microsoft Dial-up Networking Package that I didn't have. netapi.dll, CFGWIZ.DLL, CFGWIZ32.EXE, NDSWAN16.DLL, NDSWAN32.DLL, WAN.TSP Anyone know where I can get these?
  22. Are there any spaces in this statement? Also I'm going to have to change to SHCDX33F since that file has been updated. I'll be glad when my network card comes in this week and be able to download directly to my Win95 computer instead of shuffling disks.
  23. Some of these Win95 files are text. For Autoexec.bat or Config.sys?
  24. Here's the link to the Creative download page I copied. http://support.creative.com/Downloads/welcome.aspx Look here for what looks like a "full set" (maybe older, but...) ftp://ftp.kstu-kai.r...ive/SB16PNP.SB/ Should all these be used? Do the DOS drivers need to be loaded in DOS?
  25. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place but the only file I see for download is SHCDX33F.ZIP
