  1. Should I mess with the BIOS drivers, updates (whatever they are)? I've heard messing with the BIOS can be risky.
  2. Ok sorry I havent shown up past few days been very busy. Thanks very much to all of you for the outstanding help. That is awesome that you all could track down those drivers. I downloaded all of them but I've run into a problem. The motherboard video drivers need Direct X 8.1 to work and from what I've seen, Win 95 cannot use anything past Direct X 8.0. I hope I'm wrong about this. Is there a way to deal with this? As for why I want to use Win 95, it has always been my favorite OS and I dont really care how much more difficult it may be to get it going, Its worth it to me.Thank you, The help on this forum is outstanding.
  3. Thanks Charlotte, You confirmed the gut feeling I had about the whole situation. Fortunately it is the tower type of computer which has more room to work with. I'll just replace it with a 500 or 600 power supply.
  4. I have an IBM Think Centre 814815U computer running XP Home Edition with a 230 watt power supply. I just bought a GeForce 6200 512mb video card for it and read on the box that I need a 300 watt power supply to run it. Would it cause problems that would harm the card or the computer if I tried to run it? Or would it cause the graphics card or other computer systems stress or not to perform at optimum levels? I dont care if the power supply burns out, I'll just put a big one back in.
  5. Thanks for all that info, it may take me a while to process that. I did find the version of 95 I have. I looked on the system properties window and it says 4.00.950 C. So it's 95C. Man, you are right about the motherboard drivers. Original driver disks are worth their weight in gold. I didn't see any markings on the motherboard to suggest who the maker was. Here are a few pics of it, maybe you can tell.

    Hi There

I totally agree with the pro Windows 95 sentiment here, it has always been my favorite OS. Going from 3.1 to 95 was like going from the stone age to the space age.
  7. I'm trying to get Windows 95 up and running and looking for updates that will provide internet security. Does anyone know where I can download the Win 95 service packs? I'm not sure which version I have, it's the OEM CD with usb support if that helps. Was also wondering if there's a fix to make Firefox work with Win 95
  8. Hi I'm Hoko and am putting together 3 systems, one for windows 95, one for windows 98se and one for win xp. Basically just to use for games designed for each of those systems. My 95 computer is a 466is eMachine 466mhz, the 98 computer is a Dell Optiplex GX150 sff 1Ghz and the xp computer is an IBM Think Centre 2.8 Ghz. Ive already run into lots of errors on the 95 machine and have already started to find solutions on this website. You dont know how hard it is to find info on running these old operating systems now. This site is great! THX!
  9. If I used a Rage 128mb video card on my 95 machine instead of the FX5200 256mb card would I still get the same errors? What is DX8 and where can i find it?
  10. I loaded Win 95 full version OEM cd onto my hard drive via a win95-98 boot disk and after I loaded the drivers for my Nvidia GeForce FX5200 256mb video card I got these errors. "The NVSVC.EXE file is linked to missing export USER32.DLL:EnumdisplayDevicesA." "Error loading C:\Windows\SYSTEM\NvCpl.dll. One of the library files needed to run this application cannot be found." What do I need to fix this and where can I find it?
