Getting Windows XP x64 to work on modern machine?
reboot12 replied to BlackOtton's topic in Windows XP 64 Bit Edition
Officially, it does not support, but I would try the drivers for individual devices from the manufacturers websites e.g. for Intel HD Graphics 3000/4000 driver is winxp64_145111.exe -
I noticed a strange thing. If I run a ThinkPad X61s computer with WinXP SP2 x64 while a Samsung smartphone is connected to it via USB, there is no volume icon in the tray. The sound in the system works, I can also manually run the sndvol32 volume control. Re-enabling the icon in the control panel does not help:

is windows xp 64 bit better than the x86 version of xp?
reboot12 replied to legacyfan's topic in Windows XP 64 Bit Edition
In WinXP 64-bit you can use hibernation but it depends on the hardware. All you need to do is switch in boot.ini: maxmem=4096 ThinkPad X61 C2D, 4GB RAM - hibernation OK ThinkPad X220 i5, 8GB RAM - hibernation FAIL WinXP 64-bit hibernation -
Still using WinXP SP2 64-bit on two PC's - the best system in the world PC1 ThinkPad X61 C2D 4GB RAM, docking station with LPT and COM ports. I mainly use for browsing the Internet. Page file disabled. PC2 Sandy Bridge platform ASUS P8H61-M LE R2, Intel i3, AMD HD7450 + 2K LCD monitor (2560x1440) connected over DP-DP cable, M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI sound card. This PC is not connected to the Internet and I only use it for audio/video FullHD/720p production with Sony Vegas 9 64-bit at 2560x1440. My favorite games also work: CueClub2 at 2560x1440 Worms World Party Remastered 2015 at 2560x1440 - you can see the entire island, not just part of it, as in the old version NFS3 modern patch at FullHD 1920x1080

@wimb I was able to build WinPE10 64-bit with Win10PE_SE_2016-04-08.zip (Host OS and source DVD the same - Win10 enterprise LTSB 2015) but I don't like it - building the ISO - including solving the problems took me about 3 hours : builder stops with an error: Wimgapi was not found after searching for help on the internet for a long time, I found a solution: the file wimgapi.dll 64-bit is missing in Projects\Tools\Win10PESE\x64 very long build time - I don't know why it processes install.wim - wouldn't boot.wim alone be enough? VMware UEFI64 test: WinPE starts with error pecmd.exe Firefox not start: there are no interesting tools and the ISO image is 650MB ??? I know a simpler way to build a WinPEx64 ISO: download boot.wim x64 from ADK extract .cab file, rename filad61... to boot.wim open source Win10 DVD x64 ISO in UltraISO delete support folder and all files and subfolders in sources directory copy downloaded boot.wim to sources directory change label to win10pe_x64 and save ISO as new file e.g. win10pe_x64.iso ->> ISO image is ready in few minutes (instead of a few hours) and only has 246MB Of course, you can edit the boot.wim with gimagex.exe or ISO with UltraISO file before and add your applications, e.g. Total Commander, BootICE etc. It's best to convert the WinPE.ISO to a bootable USB stick (e.g. using Rufus) and copy the portable applications to USB - as much as we want, fast and comfortably. There is no desktop, but you can easily run a GUI application using CMD or Total Commander: Sorry, but WinPE is supposed to do the make job, not for look like candy

It is obvious that these are the latest versions for WinXP. Besides, we are in the Windows XP forum section. -

This topic was started by me. I meant mainly Firefox and Chrome web browsers - my mistake - I should have titled as: YT may not work on old browsers Firefox & Chrome anymore, starting March 2020 We currently have September 2020 and these browsers work as I wrote in the previous post. I started the topic because I thought that from April Firefox and Chrome would stop working, but it did not. As of today, you don't need any combinations to use YT on WinXP - you only need Firefox ESR 52.9.0 for watching and editing videos, or Chrome for just watching videos. -

Some videos do not work in full screen mode in polymer on Chrome 49, e.g. in this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqi2Jy0UMiA Clicking the Full Screen button or pressing f key switches the browser to full screen mode - just like pressing F11 key and the video is still playing in the window -

From July 1, 2020, the yellow bar no longer appears (see the first post) but YT still works in Chrome 49.0.2623.112 m on WinXP but in Polymer - you can no longer disable Polymer like this: https://www.youtube.com/?disable_polymer=true -
I found a way for MIDI communication between the Win98 guest system in the MS VPC 2007 virtual machine and the MIDI music keyboard via the WinXP SP2 x86 host system: We connect the MIDI In port on our instrument to the MIDI Out port on the PC. Actions on WinXP Host: we install Virtual Serial Port Kit (FabulaTech) and add a pair of COM3, COM4 ports on the default settings: we install Roland Serial MIDI Driver 3.2 for WinXP and set the COM3 port in it, disable Use multiple ports and enable the Activate CTS/RTS Flow Control option: we install the Bome's Mouse Keyboard program, set the MIDI ports IN and OUT and leave the program turned on: set MIDI In to Roland Serial MIDI Input set MIDI Out to output port MIDI e.g. my Creative PCI card has this port Creative Sound Blaster MPU-401 Instead of Bome's, you can use another program that has MIDI In and MIDI Out settings, e.g. MIDI-OX in the Win98 virtual machine options in the COM1 port settings we select COM4: Actions on Win98 Guest: we install the same Serial MIDI driver but Win9x version - Roland Serial MIDI Driver 3.2 for Win9x and configure the same as on WinXP but set COM1 port: in the Control Panel Win98 set the default MIDI Roland Serial MIDI Out A device and/or use a MIDI player/sequencer in which you can select this port directly, e.g. Cubase, Winamp

Very strange but it is OK now and there is no BSOD C2 (without Primetime or when installed). To be sure - I restored the system from the image and installed Firefox 52.9.0 ESR Next strange thing - now YT works without the Primetime plugin I'm sure that on Saturday morning (April 4, 2020) YT did not work without Primetime and there was an error that Firefox does not support HTML5. BSOD C2 was also then. P.S. They make some changes on YT. I noticed that now 720p quality is no longer marked as HD - there is no red HD stamp:

F..k, why do you keep saying this? Your reply is not related to recent posts in the topic at all Let's wait for YT to introduce changes (31/03/2020) and then the VistaLover solution will be officially announced here. P.S. This topic is created by me. In April I will personally check and let you know if the VistaLover solution will help. -

Never heard about it. Maybe there is version 52.9.1 but this is not the last official. Last supported is 52.9.0 I am still using version 52.9.0 (26.03.2020) in which everything works correctly - this is all the websites including the add-ons I use. -
