I'll be most interested in reading that walkthrough - I've had nothing but trouble trying to get it to work, mostly with RVM and files not copying, or setup reporting files as missing

NO!!! Under no circumstances can a shop clean install Windows XP on your PC, unless you provide them with a valid CD Key. Even then, if you provide them a pirate Corp key, they still cannot install it. They "may" have recovered your original CD key from your old PC????, but if so, have violated Microsoft "LAW" as that CD key belongs to your old PC and cannot be transferred. To put it simply, you were ripped off. They have two options - give you the cd, or refund your money and format your hard drive Just so you know - RRP for XP Home OEM is around $145 and for Pro OEM is around $240. You would not be able to purchase an OEM version without buy a hardware item such as memory, mainboard, HDD, CPU or VGA card. Therefore you would have to buy a Retail version, which would cost you alot more.

Try editing your SETUP.INI file so it looks like this: Just replace the XXXXX-XXX-XXXXXX with your serial number and off you go No further switches should be required.... I got this from a Canon Scanner installation CD which includes OmniPage SE. Hope this helps

An idea for standalone use: Have it automatically temporarily disable screensaver & power management while it installes hotfixes. This would be handy for people who run XPLODE from within Windows as you know I do. Another idea is a front end for editing the XML file, with the ability to select what to or not to install, via checkboxes.

If you know someone who is a registered OEM system builder on "oem.microsoft.com", you can get them to download the OPK versions of DX9a, WMP9 & Movie Maker 2, all of which support completely silent installs. They work great Also, you can get hold of the current leaked build of SP2 (build 1213), which appears quite stable so far (I'm using it now!!!), then there is only about 10 hotfixes to install, instead of the 50+ that are available for SP1a. Hope this helps you and everyone else.... PS: this is not to undermine AaronXP in anyway, however I did find this tool from HERE, which is very handy for creating super Nin1 CD's ) They have taken it down while building a new version, but a quick google search, and you can locate a mirror.....
