  1. Apparently I discovered that Quakeworld isn't compatible with Windows 98, only with Win95 and NT4. KernelEx doesn't help either. Thanks for responding anyways.
  2. I figured out the problem, I DID need Quakeworld, but now there's a new problem, Quakeworld crashes either on start of a game OR when you attempt to exit, it hangs with nothing happening, even Control+Alt+Delete doesn't work. :/ Using Windows 98 w/KernelEx disabled, DirectX8.1 (downgraded from 9.0c), Nvidia Geforce4 Ti 4600, SoundBlaster Live CT4780.
  3. I recently got Quake, installed QuakeWorld, it doesn't work properly and it crashes on exit. Computer specs are in my second post.
  4. Fortress Forever, I highly recommend this Source engine mod. It's basically TFC (Team Fortress Classic) using the Source engine, but with upgrades and really cool updates. It's a small community, but with more players coming towards the game because of TF2's mediocrity (myself included, but I play it from time to time), it's been getting more players, so I suggest to anybody who's an FPS/Team Fortress fan to give it a try.
  5. Added Quake 2 Demo to the list, NT4 works perfectly, once I find the time, I shall test out 95/98.
  6. I've been wondering what games are still available either commercial or free that you will be able to download or purchase on Ebay for a buck and play some games/mods. I also would like to make a database for old games that are compatible for older versions of Windows. I do not have some of these games, but if someone would like to contribute to testing gameplay of some of these games and/or adding games and what OS's they run on natively, it'd be appreciated. 9x = Windows 95/98/ME 9xkex = Windows 98/ME with KernelEx (KernelEx for Windows 98/Me can be found here: ) NT4 = Windows NT 4 2k = Windows 2000 2kkex = Windows 2000 with KernelEx (KernelEx for Windows 2000 can be found here: ) all = All Windows Versions regardless of KernelEx versions TBD = To Be Determined UN = Untested ----------------------------------------- 3D Ultra Pinball The Fastest Pinball in Space 9x Diablo 9x UN Duke Nukem 3D 9x UN GTA III 9x UN Half-Life Steamless TBD Half-Life Steam 2k Heroes of Might and Magic 9x UN Heroes of Might and Magic II 9x UN I'm Going In 9x UN Max Payne 9x UN GL Quakeworld 9x Quake 9x UN QuakeWorld 9x (Windows 95 only) Quake 2 Demo NT4 Quake 3 9x UN Return to Castle Wolfenstein 9x UN Team Fortress Classic TBD These are games that are either tested or untested that can be identified with the "UN" tag next to it. "TBD" basically means that I do not have the game to test it nor does anybody else who contributes to this list has tested it recently.
  7. I'm wondering though, is the Japanese installer, JUST an installer in Japanese? Could we just install it on English versions of 2000, right?
  8. Oh sorry, what I meant was that I know that 95 won't be getting any sort of fix for running Steam, yes I know that it never supported 95, but it DID support 98/ME. (was using 98FE btw) I was hoping that there might have been someone somewhere that would do something to optimize 95 for Steam, but apparently it won't happen, oh well. Bah, I'm terrible at explaining things, sorry about this misunderstanding but nobody's perfect, right?
  9. What's the difference between this and the UR1 from M$?
  10. Good news, everyone! I am happy to report that Steam works flawlessly, at least with goldsrc games. Having a bit of trouble finding servers on TFC, but that might just be my Internet connection. EDIT: Apparently TFC can't browse servers. As well as Half-Life 2: DeathMatch doesn't start at all since there's an error. Here's the error:
  11. I just recently got 5 computers, 2 of which have Windows 2000 product keys, after successfully *using a disk I just so happen to have*, I installed Windows 2000 on one of them, legitimately. Anyways, I installed Steam with a main exception error after restarting, I have downloaded your v5 of KernelEx for Windows 2000, I'll report back asap after this second restart.
  12. Oh please tell me if it was a non-steam version of a steam game.
  13. Well, I mostly play old games, preferably Valve games. I'd also love to learn how to create/contribute to Service Packs for Windows versions, such as 95, NT4, Windows 2000, ME, etc. Pleasure to meet you sir.
  14. The title itself is self-explanitory, however, if there's a tutorial as to how to create an Unofficial Service Pack, I'd like to contribute to a project if it exists. Just need to figure out how everything works in a SP.. and how to even create an executable. lol
  15. The latest version of Opera that works on Windows 95 has fonts missing for the downloads section of the browser, does anybody know what fonts are needed to show these particular fonts? They are just squares showing on the Speed and the Size.
  16. To be honest, I don't see the point in using Win95 with over 2.1ghz, except just to experiment. It unfortunately can't game so unless there's like some way to get Steam running on Win95, there'd be no point. Besides, it works fine on this 1.1GHz Tualatin P3 rig w/512 RAM.
  17. Ah, that's good to know. But luckily that link he has up still works on my P4 2.93GHz rig!
  18. Ah, what a shame, if I had the skills, I'd love to contribute to the project, even make a port to Win95.
  19. Might this patch for Windows 98 still be on your website, MDGx?
  20. Wow! That was fast! I'm happy to report that the patch for IE5.5 works like a charm! I wish that ALL of the versions of 9x would get the attention they so desperately need like 98SE.
  21. Someone ought to sticky this and/or move this to the Windows 2k board. This is amazing work! Once I get Windows 2000 to test, I'd love to try out these updates!
  22. The only way to run flash in both Firefox and Opera is to use that spoof in order to play YouTube videos, blip.tv was also tested with the spoof but does not seem to work. I just tested the link sent from that quote from LoneCrusader and unfortunately, the test did not work. (Also, fun fact, you can't run 2 flash youtube windows side by side on different browsers or else the second one that has been opened won't produce any sound.) Oh, by the lack of love that 95 has I mean that there's no KernelEx for 95 nor much activity going on in the SP for it. It's getting some love, but not nearly as much as 98/ME. lol
  23. Oh wow! A KernelEx for 2000? Nice! I'd love to test this on a 2000 machine.. If I had one.. D:
  24. Exactly that! The Activex one, if I had the knowledge, I would try it myself as well as do a whole bunch of other things for Windows 95 specifically, since that OS doesn't seem to be gettin' much love around here.
  25. Ah, thank you! Broken link there. D: Anyways, I'm still curious about that specific project, because from my tests on my Windows 98 build, nearly every version of Flash worked using KernelEx on BOTH IE and Opera 11.5, at least from what I can recollect. As of now, Windows 98 passes nearly every test, except Steam gaming, which I hope that will happen in a future release of KernelEx. I'm now doing Windows 95 testing on my machine that I WANTED to dual boot, but was impossible, so I just installed Windows 95. Got the SP and Plus! on it and it's working- Ah.. I get off topic a lot. XD But in regards to that thread, I'm hoping to see an IE spoof soon, since that specific plugin spoof works greatly, not the best of quality (works only on 360p) but still has smooth playback.
