There are several inf packages within wia11.7z. In _wia.inf I have seen the ptp drivers.

Well you are right I looked at the wia11.exe installer and converted the extension to 7z.

I have found in the inf directory the following file wiafbdrv.inf from windows 98. I think wia is only for old cameras ans scanners. Are you sure that the wia installer installs a ptp driver.

Hello Joe. I installed my Fuji film camera with the software finepixviewer that was on the cd-rom I got with the camera. There was alo a ptp driver on it. Scanner & Cameras was removed from control panel. But I opened explorer and there I could see Scanner & Cameras and I could see my the name of my camera. When it is not connected I see add device under Scanner & Cameras under explorer.

He Hello frogman, I installed flashplayer 10.1.53.64 for internet explorer in the directory c:\win98\system\macromed\flash there are two files for internet exporer flash10h.ocx and flashutil10h_activex.exe. I installed this version and it worked. Do you mean searching for flash10h.ocx and flashutil10h_activex.exe on the internet.

Hello there, well I installed mtp and thought my fuji camera would work with it.. But it did not. It needed it's own ptp driver. I ask myself if there is a universal ptp driver for xp. I also installed my camera on a xp laptop and my camera worked at once. I ask myself if there is something as a universal ptp driver for windows xp. I do not believe there is a universal driver for windows 98.

Tried Seamonkey 2.8 portable crashes in the same way as Firefox 11 so be careful.

I installed seamonkey portable, tweaked prefs.js and installed the following add ons. adblock lite classisch add on manager Ghostery Google privacy Noscript Webmail notifier Wot. And everything works fine. Only the letters on the toolbar are very small like with firefox 10.0.2 portable. But it works much better then firefox. All installed on a system with kernelex 4.5.2 pentium III processor with 512 mb and windows 98se.

I installed them all three. I could only test ptp, because I needed it with my digital cam, tot transfer pictures to my pc. I have wia 1.1 installed on my system and mtp. When I installed mtp it added SET MTPPKROOT=F:\WMSDK\MTPPK12\Responder to my autoexec.bat. I have tested ptp already and it worked with finepixviewer from Fuji to get my picures on my pc. I do not know if I can test wia, because I do not have the devices for that, you also need the right devices to test mtp of course. There are digital camera's which use wia or they use ptp. There are scanners which use wia. I do not know that scanners use ptp. I also do not know exactly for which devices they use mtp.

I installed wia on my system for certain older scanners and digital cams. Newer digital cams need a ptp driver. I have ptpusb.dll is the ptp driver ptpusd.dll seems to be a ptp wia mini driver. I also installed mtp it creates a directory wmsdk I do not know what this directory does actually. I searched with mtp*.* on my windows drive but found nothing. Wmsdk is installed on another drive letter.

Many scanners and digital cams will work with wia. But a nice thing would be a ptp driver for windows 98 just as for windows xp and up.

I already tolled that my Fujifilm Finepix AV200 digital camera. works with it, but off course I needed a ptp driver. And I got the software delivered with this camera. I also searched for a ptp driver especially for windows 98 I could not find one. But I got one from Fuji. There are drivers for windows xp and up.

Yes when you start them the first time everything works for me also tha back and forth butons. The only problem with the 10 versions is that certain add ons make them crash. And I can start version 11 very well. But when I start it a second time windos 98 se crashes and I tried it a few times.

Firefox 9.0.1 portable is stable working with kernelex 4.5.2 on a pentium III 850 mhz and windows 98 SE 512 mb. From Firefox 10.0.2 is the most stable from the 10 version but they all have troubles with certain add ons. Firefox 11 potable started very well. I started it a second time and windows crashed. It is going wrong when you start it a second time really strange.

I tried the portable version of Firefox 10.0.2 on my harddisk and now without the tweaks of prefs.js. And it works much better then I thought. Only certain add ons seem to cause crashes.

Now my Firefox 10.0.2 runs much faster then my Firefox 3.6.27 by tweaking prefs. js and there is also user. js in my profile directory. Now I have a question, does any body know if user.js overrides the settings of prefs.js. I have Firefox 10.2 up and trunning just as fast and stable as Firefox 3.6.27 with kernelex 4.5.2. on a Pentium III 850 mhz with windows 98se all that is needed is to tweak prefs.js in this file are the about:config settings. There are various tweaks. What I did was take a portable version of Firfox 10.2 and put on the hard drive and then tweaked prefs.js. I am now busy to install various add ons.

I am trying Firfox 10.0.2 portable on a usb stick. I did not expect it, but it crashed many times on intel pentium III 850 mhz 512 mb and windows 98se, kernelex 4.5.2. So I started all over again. And used the following websites to tweak firefox 10.0.2 http://www.tweakguides.com/Firefox_1.html and http://www.pimp-my-rig.com/2011/06/firefox-performance-tuning.html. You can also do a search with google: tweak firefox performance about:config. After this Firefox became stable. I have not intalled the folloing add ons HyperBK and Classish Addon Manager. Everything works fine until now. I have not tried the other add ons.

Installed protable Firefox 10.0.2 usb on a pentium III with 850 mhz with 512 mb, Windows 98 SE. Everything worked fine of course except the bookmarks for this I have installed the add on Hyperbk. I also installed the add ons: Classicisch Addon Manager, noscript. I tried wot add on did not install though. Then I tried click and clean did not install either. I will retry it. Tried to install speed dns 0.2 crashed firefox. I had installed session manager for that but it did not work with firefox 10.0.2 although it worked with 10.0.1. Tried to install the add on Speedfox but it made Firefox crash. This version of Firefox is much stable and faster then 10.0.0 or 10.0.1 but it has problems with some add ons that 9.0.1 does not have. I will do some more tests if I have the time.
