Maybe some good news here. Downloaded the final version of opera, opera 12.10 and turned the exe into 7z and saw not plugin wrapper. So possibly the plugins will work normal with this version.

Hello there. I have Kernelex 4.5.2 installed on window 98se with avast 4.8 which updates normal. You still seem to use a analoge modem which is very slow. Important is to remove the temporary files you could use ccleaner for that which you can download at majorgeeks.com for instance. See the section diskcleaner. Well avast 4.8 does not make trouble with kerlnelex 4.5.2. Another thing you should do is to defragment your system regularly. Probably there is also spy ware on your system. You should check your system with for instance spybot - search and destroy. And you should also check your system with avast.

Just installed the portable version of vlc media player 2.0.4 on windows 98 se kernelex 4.5.2 but there are no words in the menu at the top Only lines and blanks. I experienced this a;ready with other versions of vlc.

Avast 4.8 still works with windows 98 se I registered it for a new 11 months until 1 november next year.

I tried to run the portable version of opera next version 12.10 beta on windows 98 with kernelex 4.5.2. it crashed my system. I needed to restore my registry.

Hello I want to correct an error I made. Revo uninstaller works on windows 98 with kernelex, but it is better not to use it, because one cannot make a restore point on windows 98. Hello there. Well there is much hope. I tested the portable version 12.02-1555 and it works very well also the plugins work. The Plugin wrapper has gone. It works with kernelex on windows 98 se. And the official version of opera 12.02 is out so you can download it. But I speak here from the portable version. I also installed the portable version of Opera 12.50.1497a, it works fine except there is the plugin wrapper again which makes it impossible to work with plugins.

Hello there, solved my problem with java script. It was turned on under Quick preferences. Well I have learned one thing here to check everything before publishing something here. Next time I will be more careful.

Hello Ioblo I am very sorry. You are totally right with flash. I tested flash on a test website and it says that plugins are not enabled.

Okay I must say you are right. Then when I have been on other places where I could see certain movies it is htlm5. Well I cannot argue about this I am sorry. Another thing what it is strange is when I turn java script off I do not set it to 2 it works. I have tested it here http://isjavascriptenabled.com/ and it said yes. But it was disabled in Opera. I must say that I have set it it to 2 in operaprefs.ini. Forgive is something is not right it can happen. I knew about htlm5 movies. But that it worked without flash installed I did not know.

I forgot to tell youtube.com works for sure there are some sites where it does not work. But that has to do probably that some sites look at what kind of browser is used I am just busy thinking about this.

I know it sounds strange, but I have to turn off plugins under Quick preferences to let flash works. When I try to change the javascript setting to 2 it does not work., I can save it but it does not work so I have set it to 2 in the operaprefs.ini. Well I am sure this works also I have installed noscript. Well I also have set the plugin path in operaprefs.ini. Now I am interested waht the plugin wrapper really does. It's function will be to let Opera know where the plugins are or what does it do exactly ?

Hello Ioblo yes the newest version of flash works here under windows 98SE with the portable version of Opera 12 and possible also with the newest version of opera 12.01 with the plugins turned off under quick preferences. I really know that java script is only a setting in the configuration which you can set to 2 to let it work. But it works here. Well opera needs to know where the plugin path is. I only am trying to let quicktime work. But I do not know how to figure it out. It does not matter to me what the maker of flash says. It works here with me.

Hello Dave-H I can agree with you. But how do you explain then that flash and javascript works on my system. I have turned plugins off under quick preferences and flash and javascript works under windows 98 with kernelex 4.5.2.

Hello Dave-H yes it is handlers.ini and I have added mime type quicktime and it worked I can now see video/quicktime When I set the plugin path for quicktime though in handlers.ini I cannot see it back under Preferences/Advanced/Downloads and then under the quicktime section. I realize Opera needs to know where the plugin path is.
