We know Xp has one boot option "Press any key to boot from CD". I want to add two more options there as 1. Boot from HDD 2. Reboot. So my total option will be three. How can I add these options? I use nlite to make customize XP.

All kinds of software doesn't save their serial in registry. It may located as .dat file in installation folder. Just replacing this .dat file may solve the problem.

Installkits only restore a backup of your installation. So where you install 1st it will restore the backup in that drive. You can use D drive (install location) during installation. Or you can make many copy for each drive.

InstallRite is good. I also tried to change icon. But I think it is not possible. This icon is also placed in InstallRite.exe file. I tried both. Another question is compress size. It is really a matter of backup full installation. So compressing is also not so easy matter. Because All kinds of software is increased after installation. Very good advise.

Why inno setup? You just apply WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe /passive /norestart command or WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe /? for help. MS softs are very easy for silent installation with the way I've given.

You advised to keep the seup file and iss file in same folder. I did the same job. My directory was in the desktop named Bijoy2003 and I put the seup file and iss file in Bijoy2003. But every time I get ResultCode=-3. Yes. Auto it is good and I used it for many soft. But there is Name, Company name and serial number. I don't know using it. This software is to write my own language in ANSI.

I applied setup command setup.exe –r to record. So I got setup.iss file in C:\Windows directory. Then I copy the setup.iss file into my setup directory and applied silent command as setup.exe /s. But my setup doesn’t response. My log file tells ResultCode=-3 (Required data not found in the Setup.iss file.). Then I tried record command setup.exe –R, setup.exe /R setup.exe /r. I use XP Professional (SP2) and MS Office 2002. My Windows was going well. Yesterday I tried to open one of my MS Word files. It shows corrupted massage. Then I tried all of my MS Office files (.doc, .xls, .ppt) of all drives to open. But no one opened. My all another files are OK. But only doc, xls, ppt are corrupted. I tried Open and Repair option, new Windows, and MS office 2003. I also tried to open the file in another PC. I also renamed the file in .html, .xml. But same result. I have many important files (ANSI, Unicode) in my PC that are now corrupted. What can I do?

I use Windows drive only for Windows and installing software. For these 20/25 GB will be sufficient for me for XP. So 125GB will be unnecessary for me. However size is not matter. I want C drive for XP and D for Win7. Of course I'll allocate D drive 40 GB. If I make this HDD single boot (XP), what size will not be harmful for HDD? 15 GB will be sufficient for my XP. I want to know what size is harmful for HDD?

I’ve bought a Hard disk of size 500 GB. I decided to allocate C drive 20 GB. One of my friends told me this size will be harmful for my hard disk and advised me to allocate C drive 50 GB for safety. He told C drive should be Minimum One 3rd of HDD. Is there any rule to allocate HDD partitions size? I’ll make my HDD dual boot (XP and win7). What size of partition will be preferable for dual boot. I’ll need 15GB for XP.

Scanddisk can be stop (gpedit.msc) but it is not safe for hard disk. You can try a dos command. chkdsk /f d: (here d is your harddrive.) If this command requires Y/N (Yes/No) just press y and enter. Then simply restart your pc. It may stop your scandisk problem.

Let it default settings. If you do nothing on this option it'll be default settings. My settings bellow (for your kind attention) that I apply and I never see Windows version on desktop.

You can place it both in system directory and your software directory. Or you just contact with Author. It's very fine tools for your solution. I like this tools. Try once again.

N-lite is best solution for your problem. Visit msfn N-lite forum to know more about nlite. Download Latest N-lite. It works good. You can't delete any file from i386 folder. If do so your setup process will be corrupted.

I've already made some silent installation soft using the switches. I think it is for default installation. But I need customization of Avro Keyboard during installation. I want to deselect some options (Automatically check for update and Update Windows uniscribe engine usp10.dll). But silent switch doesn't give this chance. So I tried for .iss file. Because I've succeeded to create iss file for Power DVD5 with setup.exe -R command and silent install withe setup.exe /s command (adding setup.iss file).
