If you run win7 on fat32, then no built in access control lists. The way I know to do this, is to: - boot from another win OS - take ownership of all files (make sure apply to all subdirectories, and override any special permissions) - use supercopier or terracopy to copy all files off partition (with exception of junctions that i think are of little importance) - format partition fat32 - put files back - fix the boot sector with bootsect.exe limiting factor for fat32 is number of objects in a directory: problem with winsxs crap, but probably not for your small OS. i talk about windows 7. did you try this? is it works? or you talk about theorically. doesn't registry ownerships effect?

one is enough for me if it not works but it works without register anything now, why need it. i want to register all dll files in wim and take backup of the classes key. we can not know if there is not registered dll exist in wim. if there is such tool for to register everything will be much better. i will use the soft you advise in this situation thx. there are ie8 related dll files in system32 folder. are they really need? in my builds it can work without them

i watched with procmon and regsrv32 ieproxy.dll changes too many keys in classes registry so i cant give a certain reg file i wish i can give. /s is only for make it silent not important. i explained in my topics how i did if you don't want to use because of turkish names you can do like that. feel need to explain again. make a boot iso. boot it in a virtual environment. register "regsrv32 ieproxy.dll". take a backup of software\classes reg. use it as clid.reg. you can do it for anything that needs a registered dll file (i think so). there are too many guides about right click registry tweaks in internet. can be this key "[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\Manage\command]" you can google it and can put anything to right click of my computer. probably paint doesnt work because of clid.reg too.

Is everything working OK for you ? No problems with Source Language anymore ? Is MS Paint working (for me not) ? I build 2 isos with turkish source and turkish opk.. First nothing changed turkish selected. Other with en-US values changed with tr-TR values in WIN7_Files.txt,WIN7_add_explor.txt,WIN7_add_files.txt. first one didn't boot any peshellwrapper comes. second one works with mmc and photoviewer but ie8 not works. ie8 works after registering ieproxy.dll. I think you removed my clid.reg. i can succesfully installed my ethernet card from device manager. Manage at right click at my computer not works. It can be solved with from classes registry. will check mspaint *What EXCL and INCL means at "Reduce Size of PE3.iso"? I selected no *It couldn't find my wireless hotfix that i put near other packages. How can it find other packages in my OPK WinPE_FPs folder and it wants wireless package to be in WinPE_OCs folder?

i didnt add anything to registry. i don't have any idea. as i said that files shouldnt have connection. maybe shouldn't need to change hex values in classes.reg. i don't know. there is an option in procmon to save log file. if you can send your log file i can try to help. As Logfile.PML file. try to keep it short. run procmon and as soon as mspaint and stop when it gives error or it will not load

More options will add only registry improvement. At this state there is more then you can imagine in it in this wim size. .Net integrated but slimmed down a little.I don't know how much i could but depended feautures and service works. Nearly all drivers and more in it. desktop colour can change from control panel but not yet photos.

thx for information. i need that script extractor much. 1.0.0.3 doesnt work in my xp. i have .net 2.0 need 3.5? i checked the .net plugin too but it looks like useless for me. if i can collect the infromation about .net will tell here. (i can forget what i did sometimes). 7100 died and we need a rtm solution. want get it work without assembly folder need (if it is possible). i think i will change sidebyside configurations (i didnt want it ever but looks a need. don't want to loose serviceability as winpe) i don't understand from .net any so that is the most difficult thing for me. don't wait a small wim if want .net

i don't use winbuilder, thats why i moved topic from there to here. i manually modify everything. Are you sure there are such scripts exist? If you have them what you need else to work in a winpe I read winbuilder topics too. I will be happy to help all developers but i don't know legal issues about what can be shared. A registry hive will be legal to distribute? (should be legal because same as to share a reg file too,they are same.) You can find file list from optimize.txt in this topic. It is the most suitable and small file list i had ever. Everything changes with what the user wants to work. %99 modified hives coming. better you wait a few days. i am working on it now. Also will be english. Good for users, bad for me. I need to modify again for my language. I just tested it looks working with all windows. wowww devices and printers working. screenshot coming. i can see pictures at desktop wallpaper change (not seen in photo) but it doesn't change yet. working on .net framework probably will get it work (i think so). network center not works yet with current build (not automatically connect need to solve) build from tiny 7

i maybe wrong too. i am not sure now. for user data if user have flower.jpg in its documents folder there is no flower.jpg in setup so it will not delete it. but if user installed one sofware it will reset all hives and also softwares settings and registration data and sofware will not be installed but its files will stay you will need to reinstall. i didnt test only my ideas.

do you want to keep other operating system settings and programs? will it be a repair kind of apply or install kind of apply? when you apply image registry hives will stay. thats why you need to delete windows directory. you can try to keep software hive and delete other hives and apply. it will start from new setup. to apply an image to over other means only add missing files it will not change current files. should be like that. It is hardly you to get a working system after apply. only you have a missing file maybe.

Thanks for the link to Procmon.exe I did use Dependency Walker, but will try to use Procmon I checked and the required files exist, but MS Paint does not work yet for me ... Need more study. used your makepe_3 and add internet explorer and photoviewer. didnt do something else it works. add some more files but i don't think they have any connection with it. dui70.dll,duser.dll,dwm.exe,dwmcore.dll,dwmredir.dll,dxgi.dll,sti.dll,sti_ci.dll

i also use dependecy walker too. but it is for to find what files it need to work, not for what files it load (i think so in easy manner) the main problem of all bootable xp,vista,win7 is register dll files i think. i found a way for win7 versions (i don't work on other builds now). It is usefull and easy for me. Boot in wim register the dll files and backup classes registry hive. I didnt tested it else then internet explorer but i will use from now. Probably will solve my register dll problems. Nobody explains to register a dll or tell a solution, i don't know if anybody gave such a solution like this before. All solutions i can find are about to add in a autorun and register at boot regsvr /s . it is not usefull.

As we need to add mspaint.exe to get Photo Viewer working, it would be nice if MS Paint can be used as well, but it does not work ... it isnt usefull for me. i think your soft takes all winpe and add other files to it. if the files i want to delete add after Optimize_Profile.txt and Optimize_explor.txt works? you didnt said anything about build process.

you are wellcome. i have one more request if you do that too i will be glad. it is very important for me. there should be a delete_files.txt like add_file.txt. i want to remove some files before unmount and commit the wim file. Forexample want to remove all other language folder and mui files before your soft commit wim.

I tried PhotoViewer as proposed but it did not work for me. Additionally adding \Windows\System32\d3d8thk.dll helps to let PhotoViewer Window Open, but the picture will not load ..... Do you have a solution ? If doesnt load it needs directx dlls, sti inf and drivers i think. it will get your wim bigger. directx dlls will need at least 10mb. i see you add only a few services. better like this, doesnt eat lots off memory and works fast. I can look with procmon about what it needs else file later. If we can get it work with less files. ok. if photoviewer opens it means very close to work. mine was like that before opens but doesnt show and it showed after color directory.if you add irfanview as extra program you will not need to delete its registry entries. i can return turkish words to english again. it will be more easy if you tell something about how make_pe3 works,process files and registry hives. and about the boot process of the iso created with makepe3 Edit: Needz for Photoviewer. My clid.reg, Program Files\Photoviewer directory, System32\spool\drivers\color directory, d3d8thk.dll d3d9.dll icm32.dll mspaint.exe stobject.dll Of course with mui files if they have. I tested. Thanks for testing. Good that mmc is working now with Turkish files. That means that I know now how to support Windows 7 source with non en-US language. I will make necessary changes in next version of Make_PE3. Your clid.reg contains some Turkish naming which appear e.g. in context menu as IrfanView ile Gözat. I think I can manage to make proper clid.reg I think there are not turkish problem with windows 7 files. Before i was using irfanview for image support. Turkish parts shouldnt be much at irfanview because i manually edit a irfanview plugin. But if you want to remove all irfanview registry entries it will be a hard job for you. Also if you can add photoviewer directory and spool\drivers\color directory like internet explorer into custom folders. photoviewer will work too.

i changed WIN7_add_explor.txt and WIN7_add_files.txt en-US to tr-TR as you said. mmc works.

As i said it was a quick preview without read the documentation. It will be better you can automate for different languages. Forexample to put WIN7_add_files_en-us.txt, WIN7_add_files_tr-tr.txt (will be 1 minute fix) or better autoit can change en-us strings in WIN7_add_files.txt automatically for selected language in main program. I don't know how much you know autoit (i don't know any). I explained in portable win7 post topic number 13 about internet explorer. I think it will solved in win7pe_se too. Boot process should be clean without anything else then wpeinit and shell maybe other stuff that user can select to run but if it is selected only. * i think it added grup4dos to my working system without ask me anything. i don't remember i selected such thing when build. maybe shouldn't select target drive or folder for install of p3.iso. my fault. there will be lots of novice users that can't remove that stuff from pc's. need to be more attention about it. * I don't like personaly garbage inside iso(txt files in photo root drive) * It freeze mouse for sometime from something after boot, i don't know why.CPU uses %100 (maybe normal because of wpeutil but it looks more). Probably adding tweaks to registry. Need take load from shoulders of cpu. And congragulations your software has the first internet explorer supported pe3 builder now. The build with Explorer shell was optimized and IE8 has size 202mb. works really fast and smooth. i couldnt get powercfg.cpl to work ever but work in yours maybe i changed much. There is double folders in root drive as mine builds i think because something wrong in my clid.reg. It is good i learned that. Wireless doesn't work maybe because i couldn't add hotfix i mentioned above. Else everything works fine. User Note: change clid.reg and PE3_CUSTOM.reg with the files i give in make_pe3 and copy "Program Files\Internet Explorer" folder with all files from windows 7 inside Make_PE3\PE3_mod\PE3_add\Common\Program Files folder until wimb makes a version update. (he can change registry hives and copy files as he wish) I don't know how my clid.reg effected your build. You can understand better. From my experiences if you use any command it doesn't work after wpeinit in startnet.cmd (Especially if you have winpeshl.ini, I didn't see command shell any you have commands there) maybe that commands didn't work and PE3_CUSTOM.reg didn't processed??? IE8 runs better from all my builds in yours. i couldn't see advanced options works in my builds ever. also it didnt ask for to be default browser. it is good. annoys. You will not need and i think you dont want to use opera again.

I tested it and i should say i am very impressed. Havent seen such a easy to use, small,fast (took only 10 minutes to build), customizable (using reg files very usefull to edit.) tool before. I think it is great work. Only problem i had was it wants en-us packages at build but i use tr localized packages. i don't have wmi.en-us have wmi_tr-tr. It should be easy to take localized variable at build. I solved by changing packages names from tr-tr to en-us. After i boot it i couldn't manage to work mmc snapins. neither device manager nor others but i like it. I was quick to try it and haven't read all the instructions in it You need more advertisement and people should have rights to learn about it. Keep up good work. Want to be your supporter if you accept but i spend lots of time to build my perfect one now.
