winre.wim (index 1) is available in Recovery folder of Installed Windows 7 boot.wim (index 2) is used when 7 Setup DVD drive or folder is used as Source I think boot.wim(index2) = winre.wim(index 1) boot.wim(index2) NOT EQUAL winre.wim(index 1) boot.wim(index1) EQUAL winre.wim(index 1) boot.wim(index1) NO BOOT FLAG winre.wim(index 1) HAS BOOT FLAG winre.wim has only one index in it. boot.wim has two. i compared the indexes previous posts with integrated packages. post #106 in this topic when it complained it can not find winre.wim in C:\Make_PE3\win7pe_x86\Winre.wim i manually exported boot.wim 1 as winre.wim to that folder with boot flag. i think it should build now. all can be fixed with a few codes after you successfully coded so many things. should be easy. (with option 2 and in case of Setup DVD then sources\boot.wim is used + Win7 files of install.wim) but option 2 says it needs aik??? i dont want to use aik (i talk about gui options) in my test it says it couldn't find bootmgr (doesnt copy bootmgr? maybe because localized version setup?)

if i do as i do before will not it want a Winre.wim? where will it take winre.wim or boot.wim? ok i checked cmd inside. it looks everything you thought and there are options it to find. soory i commented before test. i will test now. and comment after. when the install.wim selected it can mount readonly(for source dvd) to a temporary location and copy files from there and unmount after build (need mount manually yet i dont have problem mounting manually not so important for me but maybe for novice users.) it said winre.wim not found as i expected. Can be a "Select Windows 7 install.wim - and without waik Makepe3-iso" button? when the install.wim selected it can mount readonly(for source dvd) to a temporary location and copy files from there and unmount after build. also need a wim number selection from 1-4 or more. If we mount install.wim and select option one will not it work? because of we don't have a Winre.wim in Recovery folder in xp system? it was working before i was building like that. mounting the wim to a temporary folder manually and selecting option one. that time it was using boot.wim of waik. i think you understand what i mean. to copy boot.wim from dvd and a button as i suggested can be good. or directy selecting "DVDDrive:\setup" folder and it copy boot.wim from that location and mount the selected wim number image from that folder install.wim building without aik looks you worked on it too much good work. more freedom. less dependencies.

if you install .net framework after capture ramdisk as image and use as pe with .net functionality. with mounting images and working, copying thousands of files my hdd coming end of its life. i stopped working on it now. if movies plays i don't need screensaver. i had only one working embedded pe. main difference is it works only with 5 or 6 processes and works more fast from windows 7 based image with same functionality. as packages integrated they looks working more stable and looks more like installed system then manually editing. this wim was made from install.wim after packages installed and winpe registry and files used mix. my target is a winpe serviceable as install.wim and dism should see it as install.wim and capable of adding packages. i think it should be possible but need hard work. and probably it wont install every package. This is where i stop until i feel i need more stuff. 196mb windows files+ 53mb software=249mbwim. Flash player integrated. If watch carefully can see playing online videos from internet explorer(sound works too). And other shells can be seen too. No need for a micro edition if explorer shell will be used and the difference is only 15mb. micro died. i didnt try any of builds in real system except this. this tested in 2 complately different system without problem. i dont think any of it will have problem in real systems. Edit: Just some improvements. *system32\iedkcs32.dll gives a better ie support. ***Open command shell in your pe. use "netsh" command and add the listed missing files to your pe. they are nearly 2.5mb and will give you better networking support. when you open your network cards properties you will have more tabs and settings. Also there was registry keys in system.hiv that call networking helper dll files. if you want a service in your winpe. easiest way is on your working windows 7 operating system. 1-)download process monitor. (procmon. systernals) 2-)run it. clean all events. 3-)open service manager 4-)go to the service you want. 5-)disable if it is working. 6-)run procmon. 7-)without loosing time try to run the service 8-)when it say it started again without loosing time stop procmon. 9-)you will have the list of registry keys and files that service need to run. 10-)in winpe be sure about services file paths \systemroot\system32\.... ----->False systemroot\system32\.... ------>True You should be sure about all paths on all keys registry of course not only services

aero in system user or administrator? how do you know directx functional or not? if dxdiag works is it means directx works too? did you do post 74 IMPORTANT UPDATE part and it doesnt work? shouldn't be directx problem. i don't do anything for to have directx fucntionality then adding only software directx related keys. (they have in name not difficult to understand. at root tree) it is probably classes hiv problem. did you put xvid files too?

@Kullenen_Ask I understand what you mean: Use boot.wim and Dism from Setup DVD and combine with files collected from installed Windows 7 Source drive. Can probably be done this way. Remember that for collecting files of Windows 7 you don't need actually to have WAIK installed. That is already as separate process available (use option 2 or radio button) yes exactly that. probably already integrated packages will be enough. as i said can help for other two packages without needing cab files to have if you decide to code such way. both of the number 1 and number 2 wims can be used. i dont know which one will be better to use. they have advantages and disadvantages.

Me and other uses install.wim from win7 setup DVD and it works. i am too. only wimb missunderstand what i mean. install.wim will not be a must. installed system will be used as now or a mounted install.wim for copy files. i post my opinions only. can be usefull stuff

what about using setup dvd and boot.wim of it? only extra packages you will need is pppoe and wireless hotfix. post #102 i use dism without install from setup dvd. only problem is it should work from command line of its own folder. Chinese, Japanese and Korean large fontsupport packages should be probably integrated in their boot.wim of setup dvd. same for other nations too. Not everyone has access to a Windows 7 setup DVD .... dont be funny. they can build from installed system but at least they need setup dvd to install that system. if they can download 1gb aik they can download 2.5gb windows 7 enterprise trial too. more usefull

it can work with boot.wim of setup dvd but there are 2 images in boot.wim. first image hasnt got boot flag. need export one of them. also it will have pre installed packages in it. need mount and delete setup packages in wim. after can be used like boot.wim fo aik. makepe3 can be modified to use setup dvd instead of aik. setupdvd has dism in it. it can be used intagrate packages. and wims has already integrated packages. people wont need to install aik then. build time can decrease because will not spend time for integrating packages. better for international support.

will it work without need to install aik or opk if we put the files in scriptdir aik folder? also a directory that has packages in it can be usefull. forexample makepe3dir\WinPE_FPs\winpe-wmi.cab and makepe3dir\WinPE_FPs\??-??\winpe-wmi_en-us.cab. and packages that are with *.* not with exact names. it can integarate whatever package it find in that directory. users can select the packages and put which they need. prefer not to install all aik for it to work. can backup needed files from an installed aik and use later with makepe3

i think your dreams getting reality ludo. maybe i am lucky about winpe. wish i can be lucky at life too. here you go. working some msi installers. don't ask about framework anymore. don't think to work on it any. maybe only about embedded framework 2 package. tested MSDownloadManager.msi HijackThis.msi Orca.Msi very easy. i don't know how it couldnt succeeded by anyone yet. i couldn't before too. System32 folder with mui: msi.dll msiexec.exe msihnd.dll msimsg.dll msisip.dll msiltcfg.dll wbem folder: en-US\msi.mfl msi.mof msiprov.dll register files in system32 folder. some doesn't don't care. only bad part working meebo web site doesn't work anymore after optimization. when i try messenger i took "not enough space" error. 32mb scratch space not enough. maybe i should increase it to 64mb. when i fix it now it gives strange error with numbers. Tricks: *If you optimize your wim always put X:\Windows\inf\*.inf and X:\Windows\System32\drivers\*.sys files back to your wim. They won't take much space then a few Mb's in your wim. we don't look for hash comparation. at least not now. we only look for extra files. i don't need to compare anything i only try to help for everyone can do it on his own and to find exact files. if you work on the files i gave and tell us the results it will be more helpfull. also i can share my knowledge and mix all.

i couldnt succeded at notepad++ part. also optimization will get it difficult. you can compare.

how can i compare all the files and show all difference? maybe can be for system32 folder only. if optimization.txt usefull can attach it. i think nobody finds optimizatin files usefull. there is no feedback about them.

Kulenen, can you compare your files/directory from finalPE.wim with Boot.wim ? i dont understand compare with what? Have you register DLL, ACX or ACM files; and if So/Yes, which precisely ? i didnt any. use classes.hiv as i did. maybe i can register xvid codecs only manually and backup classes.hiv. read post #74 IMPORTANT UPDATE

first you need to have a working audio service and working volume icon. i dont give the files for them here. if you have it theese are the files i added for media player. i didnt check if all need or optimized. there are should be directx files in it too.xvid.ax, xvidcore.dll,xvidvfw.dll are xvid codec files i extra added. they need to be registered but i didnt register when i test this build and they should be useless now. if you try to work klcodec475b.exe (K-Lite Codec Pack 4.7.5 Basic) codec pack in your winpe it checks the classes registry key and gives the list of missing codecs and dll files. i added most of dll and codec files like that. didnt add all but most of them. in program files\media player folder only wmplayer and en-us mui need only. theese are in system32 folder files. when i try to get web cam work it wanted dxtrans.dll dll file. you can add it too for directx. if we will watch movie only we should need only decoder files i will try to optimize deleting encoder files. dont think only adding files will let you work media player. i dont know all the needed registry settings. i changed all registry. i share all i know certain. can check previous post about media player and compare the files. i didnt do that when i write this. i don't look inside of winsxs folder to find needed files or looked inside of embedded media player package. all file list found At install i selected use media player default for codecs. now it plays. what will i do now is to backup classes.hiv and import my offline image.i didnt put codecs from codec pack inside system32 folder(need put)but now everything works. and optimized wim that plays movie with mediaplayer,sound,network,sidebar and working explorer in 186MB. probably optimizing deleted lots of needed files. i will add again. only want to show it can be so little.

media player watch video succeed in mini edition. adds extra 30mb to wim. need full classes.hiv from previous post. wim size 218mb. the classes.hiv from previous post adds lots of functions. forexample can see save as desktop background at photos. when plugin in usb disk it asks to transfer photos and videos to user folders and it works. it copied all photo files to my user folders. also open file folder location works.i didnt installed divx codec but it plays divx. sidebar,internet,explorer,media player all in 218mb what can be need else oyy need test web cam

\windows\system32\wwanapi.dll what is the connection of wireless wan with screen resolution? mydocs and searchfolder are must files for windows explorer for to browse and select files. wwanapi and wwapi shouldnt be need they are wireless wan. crt.dll should be need for screen resolution but it was big as i remember. i put all *coinstaller.dll files because they need for driver install. didnt look one by one certain but (IconCodecService.dllMagnification.dllPhotoMetadataHandler.dllWcsPlugInService.dllwiaservc.dllWindowsCodecsExt.dllsti.dllsti_ci.dllstobject.dllicm32.dllicmui.dll) need for image and thumbcache.dll need for see thumbnails (WUDF* usb* winusb hotplug.dll) for to get driver letter automatic assignment. i discovered that because of a problem in my modem or maybe a vmware problem also my physical machine didnt taking dhcp automatic ip adresses. after i fix itnetwork icon fully works and takes automatic ip adress(discovered not a build wim error) same wim works with network support now. i dont have a wireless card and can not test if wireless cards can set with available network control panel.

WinPE XP should be same i think too. there is a sample file list of mine in Make_PE3 Program to Create Portable Windows 7 PE topic #67 or you can use win7_add_files.txt in makepe3. above list of 9 files should be enough only for browsing maybe missing a few only UPDATE to classes.hiv: *mount install.wim to a folder. *load software.hiv with a tool. *export HKLM\Software\Classes key as hiv. *boot in winpe. *make an empty key under software (example:HKLM\Software\port7pe). *import classes.hiv under this key. *export same key as reg file again. *open with notepad. *search and replace all 44,00,3a,00,5c,00 (means D:\) with 58,00,3a,00,5c,00 (means X:\). *search and replace all D:\ with X:\ *there are both hex and alphabet versions you need to do both. *I used here unmodified classes of setup thats why there are D:\ if installed operating system classes used there will be C:\ we want the most clean and we use setup. not like everybody uses. *run and merge this reg again. *now browse with regedit to the same key. *search for "interactive user" and delete all. *it finished now can export this port7pe key as classes.hiv and use in all builds. we dont need someone else modified reg file anymore.
