  1. Good idea! Can you send it to me? You know my email adress.
  2. From KB article: However, the UPnP service can be installed on a Windows 98-based or Windows 98 Second Edition-based computer by installing the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) client that is included with Windows XP.
  3. Why are you so angry? I'm not stupid. You should be more polite when you write on public forums. Yes, I don't want to include WinME files, But this update is released for WIN98! Microsoft released it! It should be an exception. Again, I tell you, I don't WANT to include WinME files like DEFRAG.EXE, SPOOLSS.DLL. But why? Do you know that? To avoid WinME license requirement, also I don't want include original OS files, I TRY to include only UPDATED files. Files like DEFRAG.EXE, SPOOLSS.DLL are not released as updates from Microsoft. They requires WinME license for installing on a Win98 system. But this update (314941) doesn't require a WinME license, because it's released an update for Win98 by Microsoft.
  4. MDGx, if you don't activate this setting (MaxFileCache), more than 512 MB RAM systems doesn't work properly.
  5. I think I should change this MaxFileCache=524288 (512 MB) setting to 393216 (384 MB) or 262144 (256 MB). Because even on big memory systems, there's no need this big file cache.
  6. After your comments and 2.0 release, I revised the list: Needed updates (We haven't got them): * Q254660 - msmouse.vxd * Q265528 - vnetbios.vxd * Q323708 - nscirda.sys * Q329128 - ndis.vxd, vip.386, pppmac.vxd New updates (We have them, I haven't added them yet): * Q282949 - wbemprox.dll (Checking of WMI installation is required) * Q295629 - cbss.vxd * Q314941 - ssdpapi.dll, ssdpsrv.exe, upnp.dll (Checking of XP ICS client installation is required) Updates that have problems: * Q252187 - esdi_506.pdr - Causes lockups on some systems
  7. Yes, it's for only step 8. Thanks for the correction.
  8. I agree, but i posted my request after reading 'Notepad vs. Metapad' posts, so... Anyway, just for example, Media Player Classic could be considered an Update (don't M$ puts WMP 10 as an update ?) FFDSHOW too. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Metapad will be removed on the next version. MPC, vlc, BSPlayer, K-Lite Codec Pack, ffdshow, LAME etc. Where can you stop?
  9. Confused or angry? You should look at the first post for the latest version of the installation guide. Based on users' experience, I try to improve the installation guide. For example, after bizzybody's comment, I deleted "hotfixed" word.
  10. Is that ALL the files in SP2.CAB? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes.
  11. Eck, some users have problems with drivers after installing the SP. This is the reason of the revision of the installation guide. I revised it again. If you need, you can install your drivers on the early steps (especially mainboard drivers). Some mainboard suppliers recommend that you should install your video card drivers twice, before DirectX, and after DirectX. In short, install your drivers as your order, but if you have any problem (i.e. performance), reinstall your drivers again. Thanks.
  12. Service pack is a service pack, it's not a collections of free programs.
  13. Sorry but I don't understand this comment ? Could you send me your "html32.cnv" file? Thanks.
  14. Maybe. Could you revert back your cache settings? Also could you list your major programs and their versions like Office 2000, IE ?...
  15. OK. Could you send me new BootLog.txt files? One: After uninstallation graphics drivers. Two: After reinstallation graphics drivers. If possible. Thanks.
  16. Can you check these files: USER.EXE, USER32.DLL, GDI.EXE, GDI32.DLL What's their version numbers? Do you seperate have AGP/mainboard drivers? Could you re-install it? (If possible don't uninstall it, only install over it again)...
  17. Yes, after SP uninstallation, try to uninstall and install your graphic card drivers.
  18. Looks like a driver issue. After uninstallation, could you re-install your VGA drivers (probably nVidia) on the safe mode?
  19. Note that: TweakUI's installer/uninstaller is not from me, it's from Microsoft. I'll check it...
  20. First, when the uninstallation asks reboot, don't accept it, reboot manually after completing the uninstallation. After reboot, after immediately BIOS screen press F8 and select logged bot. And if it doesn't boot normally, restart your machine, and boot in safe mode, and save Bootlog.txt and Bootlog.prv files to another directory/partition, and send them to me.
  21. Bootlog.txt file should be after a SP uninstallation...
  22. Send me an email, or you can attach it as a ZIP in this post.
  23. Can you send me your BOOTLOG.TXT file? (Note that: this file logs your boot process, so it should be from unsuccessful boot.)
  24. What's the meaning of that? Can you give me more details? Did you get any error message?
  25. Yes, I want to break these limits, too. Both of them are very important. I'll try to find a solution for the both problems. Krick, thanks for your comments. I think to replace this Notepad replacement with my old Notepad patcher. Maybe, it was wrong idea. Note that: Metapad is optional, so it will not overwrite your stub application, if you don't select it.
