  1. Under Win7 build 7048 I did the following for my iPod Touch: 1. DL iTunes x64 from Apple and extracted with Winrar 2. Installed the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.MSI 3. Installed Quicktime Alt 2.8.0 (put compatability add-on on but probably don't have to) 4. DL the Switchless x64 from the front page link and installed 5. Ran iTunes 6. Plugged my iPod Touch in and good to go!

    Vista X64

my dvd is Optical Drive LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1L which is sata port 3 and my 2 hard drive is sata 1 and 2 useing achi should i turn off achi ? and mem map in bios i have 4 gig of ram you have a p5e mb ? my bios is 0502 latest I have a Lite-on SATA DVD drive that it takes about 5 minutes for the original boot off the Vista DVD. After that though I have no issues with installing or performance. I know this does not help but just wanted to share that at least in my case the Lite-On drive doesn't perform well during install.
  3. Trying to install Vista x64 on my new Q6600 Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6 system and it takes for ever to initialize. I have 4 SATA drives. 2 x 36gb Raptors in raid 0 for a boot drive and 2 x 300gb Seagates in raid 0 for data. What happens is when I boot off of my Vista Ultimate dvd, it gets to the nice green->blue screen and sits there for about 3 minutes. It then puts up a Please Wait message and sits there for a couple minutes and then it finally provides the window to select the language/keyboard/etc. I can then go through the screens to install. I tried it without the above raid configuration and it does the same thing. Yes, once I have Vista installed, how often will I re-install.. Not sure, but I'm wondering more from a "Is there a issue with drivers/config/whatever" and if someone has experienced this and fixed it, I'd like too also.
  4. You know, I never even tried it with Vista because up until now everthing I read said it doesn't work. So I went down some path with other's suggestions to change the MB thresholds and the such... This works!
  5. Bump. This is the most annoying thing we have not figured out how to turn off yet...
  6. Correct or you can use the first portion of the setup to create your C drive and them use the Control Panel ->Computer Management -> Disk Management tool to create the other drives once Vista is installed.
  7. It it's the standard message that it can't find the ntldr or whatever, you siply need to boot to vista and edit the boot.ini file on the XP partition to change the partion number to the right one. I created myVista partition at the start of my boot drive and installed Vista. Before XP was the first partition but now it was the second partition and boot.ini was wrong. There should be plenty of messages on how to really fix this.
  8. Tried a custom install on the same partion as the new windows xp image. Blue Screen!! Trying an actual upgrade now,
  9. Ok, installing XP on the partition and I'm going to try to upgrade it to Vista. Still, let me know if you have a simular setup as above. Just curious.
  10. Ok, been playing with Vista 5308 on my laptop and in VMW and finally decided to go ahead and install it on my main system. I partitioned off a seperate partition to use for Vista, problem I have is when I boot from the Vista CD, I don't get the "Install Now" Window. All I get is the background and mouse cursor. This is the same CD I installed Vista on the laptop with and checked it in VMWare also. Here is my config: ASUS A8N-SLI Premium 3700+ AMD San Diego Dual ASUS 7800GTX SLI 2x36gb WD Raptors on SI stripe 2x300gb Segate on SI Stripe NEC 2500 CD/DVD Anyone try it on something simular to the above? BIOS wise it's pretty straight froward. No overclocking, NVRaid and Marvell both turned off. work! p.s. I did take out one 7800 and set the bios to single video card instead of dual. Same issue.
  11. I would say that it doesn't work at all.. Do you have a application name for this client?
  12. I get a dialog box with some BS that I have to click ok on after I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL when I want to login. It pops up right before it gives me the login panel. Anyone know how to disable this?
  13. What turns off the option in XP Setup to repair an existing version of XP? This is right before you would pick the partition to install on. Thanks in advance!
  14. Anyone know what I need to do to add in the SigmaTel Audio drivers? I have a Dell XPS with the SigmaTel Stac 9750 AC97 controller.
  15. Because that's what I prefer. If it's not used/needed, then it needs to not be there at all.
  16. What are you requirements? Multiple Users? Or Just Remote Desktop. If just remote desktop, checkout realvnc.com
  17. Any way to remove this entirely? Never use it, never will. I always "uninstall" it at the TCPIP Config part of the setup.
  18. If running XP SP2, try the following. May be that the way SP2 defaulted the file/printer sharing, you were hosed because user accounts are different.. Bring up a Explorer Window. Go to Tools -> Folder Options Go to the View Tab Scroll down to the bottom and click the check box next to Use Simple File Sharing Click Apply. This puts XP back to the way most people are used to for file/printer sharing.

    what is this?

It's Windows XP with Service Pack 2 applied. I have no idea whether it's Home or Pro.
  22. I have partitions that houses most of my stuff that remains un touched. Generally will the Drive Letters remain the same when installing XP Pro from scratch on the boot drive?
  23. I saw something on moving and lost where it was. I'm wanting to move the Documents and Settings folder to another drive. Anyone have a link on how to do this?
