  1. Wow - why is it getting so hard to do things. Talk about user freindly haha Maybe Partition Magic was not the best of programs - but for me it worked like a gem. To be very honest - I'm afraid to touch the hardrive on Vista right now. Maybe something will come up in the near future - hopefully Thanks for all your time and effort guys Thank You!!!
  2. I'm a little confused by this Disk Management. I have a Dell computer with a 320 Gig Hardrive I want to partition it into 4 drives C - D - E - F. C: being the main drive D, E & F would all be approx 20 Gig each for music/documents/pictures I'm confused by the words "Shrink and Expand" When I used PartitionMagic on my XP it was very simple. "Add Partition" state size and away you go - no problem With Vista I don't want to "Shrink" my hardrive nor can I expand my hardrive (it is 320Gig and no more) I understand that PartitionMagic is not compatable with Vista. To bad. Thank You!!!
  3. Hey you know, I guess I never really looked at it that way. I guess I was in a panic and all and just wanted to get rid of it and be done. But your advice is something to very well consider. And in all likelyhood I'll follow. I thank you very much for taking the time and effort in answering my post. Thank You!!!
  4. Just bought a Dell computer with Vista preinstalled. To make a long story short - we want to go back to Windows XP I do not want to partition the hard drive to have both operating systems. I just want to go back to something that I can run all my programs on. Most are not compatable according to the manufacturers sites. Anyway - I tried to boot with the WIndows XP disk thinking that I would be able to format the hard drive and be on my way to installing Windows XP. No way - "Critical Error" each time. So how does one do this? How do you format the hard drive without being able to get started? I am also asuming that there may be driver problems when XP is installed - is that right? Any information you could throw my way would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!!!
  5. Here's some interesting reading. http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/vista_cost.html
  6. Yes with Dell Vista would come preinstalled. Thank You!!!
  7. Planning on buying a Dell computer which has a 320 gig hardrive. I would like to partition it into C, D, E, & an F drive Is there any Vista compatable software that I can get to do this? Thank You!!!
