Win8.1 devcon tool downloaded by GetWaikTool is now included The updates are on the server: GetWaikTool, Retrieve Tools, 2 - Shell & Config and RenewUSB3 I will look at Copy to USB BootMGR for the x86 build, it use bootIce to Install /nt60 boot sector normally ! UEFI_MULTI.exe could be a good additional plugin, I would it after my vacation. You need a little script for this, with for example:If,%sourcearch%,Equal,x86,Set,%PEdirvalue%,#$pSystemRoot#$p\system32Else,Set,%PEdirvalue%,#$pSystemRoot#$p\SysWOW64Add_Shortcut,AutoRun,PS,%PEdirvalue%\PS.exeOtherwise, here a small and simple plugin for PS.exe, no need to add PS.exe in SysWOW64, it is done. I hope it works SearchPstart.7z

It is done now, in "2 - Shell & Config" plugin, it is on server I believe it is good to keep it for MountPEmedia to change the drive to Y: at startup. or maybe add RenewUSB3.cmd (created by the plugin below) in PecmdInit.ini EXEC !=%SystemRoot%\system32\RenewUSB3.cmd before EXEC !=%SystemRoot%\system32\MountPEmedia.exe ps: after changes, you can rebuild boot.wim and ISO with the button "Create new Target Image and ISO" in Finals\3-PostConfig Great, thanks JFX I have not seen your update before and I used an old devcon's compilation that I had made. I wrote a plugin RenewUSB3 plugin (to put in Drivers folder) that use this custom devcons, if you can want to do a first test Wimb. I'll rewrite it with the new GWT to download and use the original devcon if you prefer to wait the final version RenewUSB3.7z

Super I'm a little busy this afternoon, I'll add the Group="Boot Bus Extender" and Start=0 for Usb3 services only, in "Shell & Config" plugin, tonight. And I'll make a small script to enable USB3 drives, with the choices, Load at Startup (autorun.cmd), Create a StartMenu shortcut.I'm just a little annoyed with devcon's distribution, maybe let the user add it (them x86/x64) with a button "Put devcon.exe here".

Great Wimb I am fairly new about these changes. It seems to be a good things, indeed, to load them earlier in the boot sequence of the computer to make them necessary for booting and to try to keep them connected then. Searching on this, I saw the same changes to the other USB services: usbccgp, usbehci, usbhub, usbohci, usbstor, usbuchi It seems maybe good to change those services also, What do you think ? When your USB3 harddisk is not visible, does disable and enable USB\ROOT_HUB* in device manager (or with devcon) makes it visible ?

I fully agree this is really boring and I do not have a solution. With current PC and a lot of Ram available, "Run All Program from Ram" could be set as default. It requires more memory and a longer startup, if many apps are used. It is very convenient to have the applications outside of boot.wim to add Portable apps, Update virus defs, DotNet Assembly...but if it does not work as desired with these drives not mounted in some cases ..... I'll look at the missing drivers If something can be done.Otherwise, the DotNet plugin seems ready, I'll share it at TheOven to get some feedback.I could then look at the printers, slowly, slowly, It's holiday for children here and family skiing next week. Cheers

@wimb I do not really have a solution for these USB problems not mounted. You're not the first one and you know better than me. There is MountPEMedia.log in X:\windows\Temp but I'm not sure it is useful. Do you have the Win8.1SE Warning Icon on desktop? I have 2 partitions on my USB 3 Harddisk, WD My Passport. The first in Fat32 with Win8.1SE inside and a second in NTFS. Both partitions are visible here. If your active partition is in NTFS, maybe try with Fat32. You can also choose "Run ALL programs from RAM" In "CdDrive -X: -Y:" plugin. boot.wim will be bigger and it requires more RAM. @Kullenen If you know the answer, it is a request from Mikka to get Tiny Windows Borders. It is only cosmetic. This small apps "TinyWindowsBorders" does it, but requires NET Framework.

I looked again in Win8.1SE, on X drive, the rights are inherited from X: with the Administrators owner and the full Control for all files and folders. It is therefore not a concern here. I do not understand why you have the TrustedInstaller owner and not the administrators like me ! Let me know if you find the reason.
  9. ChrisR

    WIn8.1SE

I understand but here the files and folders on X: are with the administrators owner and with full control so I do not have this side effect. I have no idea at this time for your case with TrustedInstaller !

    WIn8.1SE

I reproduce the same things on Ram X: but the files in Win8.1SE are already with the administrators owner, so it is not really a worry here. I have no Idea !!! I just try on C: or other host drive (not X:) that interresse us more, outside the development. Change the owner from TrustedInstaller to Everyone, then add Everyone with Full Control. No worries the Owner remains Everyone with Full Control and I have the same rights by restarting on the host system.

Hi fuwi, welcome here too It looks good, thank As all roads lead to Rome (or Paris) I now use the nice JFX's trick to bypass Drivers signing for 64-bits builds http://theoven.org/index.php?topic=866.msg11055#msg11055 Reply #25 And the existing AccessGain plugin (close enough) to bypass file system security, works perfectly now for x86 or x64.

Hi wimb, Sorry for the late reply, I am a bit busy this week. Indeed, the Audio script was not selected by default in 2014-01-30, some want it, others not! I normally follow g4d updates but here I go one step back to version 2013-10-30, thanks Great , I do not have time to look right now and this week but your post and Win8.1 VHD is a really good starting point. Thanks

Hi wimb, Glad to hear this from you. Thanks I do not really know for audio, the plugin has not changed between the two versions and it seems to work here. For now, I am on .Net Framework, almost ready. and I am also on Access Gain to bypass file system security on host system, it works on x86 but not on x64 because of Driver Signature. I am looking for a tip, a tool to disable driver signature permanently. bcdedit loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS with testsigning ON does not work. I saw readydriver3 http://uhlik.sk/?page=swreadydriver but without going further. and other stuff, but time is short and I must take care of my family For printer support, It guess that it should be a little easier in this project with the full registry. but I believe that it remains a somewhat complicated task. I'll keep it for a bit later when I would have more free time. Perhaps you already have some info, file dependencies for starting slowly, slowly. Regards, Chris

Agree, It is not mine but fuwi's plugin as example. but it is well, by adding 1 or 2 options, it can fit most users by replacing my plugin. Give me time, thank for your nice addition

Hi neon2m, I looked quickly and I did a first test. it sounds great It is already done, currently, in some Classic shell plugin, at Build time with "Add Menu Item" but it is a good addition. To keep the previous CustomItem[0-9], I think it would be to good change the name Customtem by CustomPinItem in PinTool.au3 1.2.3 Customtem => CustomPinItem : Local $i = "CustomPinItem" & $ItemNo + 1 $sItemVal= StringRegExpReplace($sItemVal, "CustomPinItem[0-9]*,", "") If StringRegExp($sTmpAll[$i][0], "CustomPinItem") = 0 Then So the previous Customtem entries are preserved. Example with this Fuwi ClassicShell plugin http://sdrv.ms/1bmENae What do you think ?
  16. BootIce x86 works without trouble with the x64 architecture if WOW64 feature is enabled. This is an optional supplement, and its calls works well, as it is, it seems to me. WinNTSetup_x64.exe Launch bootice from Tools\x64 with BootIce x64 or x86 inside. WinNTSetup_x86.exe Launch bootice from Tools\x84 with BootIce x86 inside (or, by pulling hair, the x64 version for 64-bits host system). Other info: http://bbs.ipauly.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1626 It is only a call of this tool, keep it simple
  17. Thank you I used the new switch to write a WinNTsetup3 plugin for WinPE. About Bootice, a detail but it is may be well to look at, manage the new names, BOOTICEx64.exe, BOOTICEx86.exe, defined by Pauly after creating x64 version. In addition to BOOTICE.exe to get the button.

  20. Great Post #1 displays Current Version: 3.1.0 For a future WinPE plugin. Is it possible to have a switch, in a future version to download the Windows 8 ADK required files at build time ? Knowing that GetWaikTools can do the trick, but a little bigger.

I don't know much about the activation watermark on 8.1 and I never let Win8.1SE work a full day. Searching a bit on google, OOBETimer seems to be something for XP. Maybe something to test, in runnig PE, remove HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform\Plugins\Objects key and its sub-keys and let it run to see.

A problem that I knew, and that I had not solved so far. It could be work around with a 3rd party software (ex: BootIce). Sp-Star has found the solution by removing the registry key HKLM\System\Setup,SystemPartition,\Device\HarddiskVolume1 Now, Formatting the host system partition C: works. It fixes at the same time the formatting problem when installing Windows by setup.exe, in Win8.1SE. 2 - Shell & Config is on server.

There is NO entries (shortcuts or context menu) for Bitlocker in PE for the system disc or drive. You must use the examples provided in the previous post #67 with Cmd.exe.

Project Updated: Win8.1SE_2014-01-16 In the previous version 2013-12-16, there was a problem BSOD 'Cache_Manager' in some case due to some limitations of Windows 8.1 FBWF drivers.Win8.1SE now uses fbwf.sys drivers x86/x64 of Windows 8 Embedded Standard much more suited to the needs (Delta patch to remain legal ). Thanks Doberman and Sp_Star It also allows to choose a size of 768 Mb or 1024 Mb. New:Link to the FAQ added http://theoven.org/index.php?topic=834.0CalculatorBitLocker: BitLocker Drive Encryption added. Before using, take a look at "How to Use Bitlocker in PE"Snipping ToolWindows Driver Foundation: User-mode Driver Framework. It is set to mandatory, it also helps for the concern of BSOD 'Cache_Manager'. Thanks neon2m OtherOS: addition of FloppyImages, ISOImages, XP-PE, PartedMagic and Plop Boot Manager.Korean IME: Korean Input Method Editor, now supported in SE projects. Thanks Zerojinny, ied206 modification, improvements:AU33100 x86/x64 Added in Tools and copied to Target system.1 - Copy Files: The Startup Repair tool shortcut shouldn't be used directly, it was removed.
