  1. Then we have to revert to the 6.53 chipset-drivers... Else how do you explain this for me: 1. problems on nForce4 mobo with nLited and all BTS'ed cd 2. problems on nForce4 mobo with all BTS'ed cd 3. problems on nForce4 mobo with nLited and integrated 6.66 thru nLite 4. no problems on nForce4 mobo with nLited and integrated 6.65 thru nLite 5. no problems on nForce4 mobo with nLited and all but chipset BTS'ed and integrated 6.65 thru nLite 't was very time consuming (these things cannot be tested in VMware ), but I have no other explanation than to culprit the 6.66 drivers, whereas the 6.65 performed flawlessly. BTW: the 6.65 drivers can be found on the asus-site. If you look closely, you'll wee that Asus recommends the 6.65 for XP and the 6.66 for 2K. Zl.
  2. You have to make another iso to install from, and yes: you shouldn't slipstream the chipset drivers. Somebody suggested to unpack the *.sys-files in the 6.65 package to the i386-folder of your windows-iso, but I did not try that out. All I can say is I had the same problem: with BTS, but also with the nLite-integration of the 6.66-package. When I integrated 6.65 with nLite (and no BTS-chipset drivers), it worked out perfectly. Zl.
  3. Even better! Zl.
  4. Know the feeling, and yes: they are caused by the NF4-drivers. Version 6.66 are used in the driver packs, but everyone has problems with those. When reverting back to 6.65, my probs stopped. Zl.
  5. In that case I have a 'feature request': rename the 'd'-folder to 'drivers' so that: 1. this folder doesn't get deleted by mistake (or by someone less knowledgeable); 2. this question won't be asked again . Love your work, BTS! Zl.
  6. THX for this new update! The auto-updater is not working however (just downloaded the BASE package 2 minutes ago): when I click the CMD, I see a DOS-box very briefly and then it closes itself without any message. I checked the URL and it should be the correct one (I can get there with my browser, so it hasn't got anything to do with my internet connection I guess...) Zl.
  7. Yep. On a sidenote: my problems seem to have gone using "nVidia nForce4 AMD 6.65" instead of the 6.66 drivers. BTS, could you downgrade the drivers in the chipset package to 6.65? THX! Zl.
  8. THX for that info! Several posts ago I posted my problem in here, and it seems that my problems have gone now that I used the 6.65 driver pack. I'll try to make another cd without the chipset driverpack to let y'all know if it works this time. using several new systems, but all based on nForce4 (non-raid). Zl.
  9. Hardware: nForce4 + Ati Radeon + 1 SATA HD (no raid) Also having problems with my unattended cd: started out with complete cd as I was getting used to it: RVM131 + nLite + XPize + BTS + RunOnceEx. This, however returned the problem that after the first reboot into the WinXP OS, the system asks to 'start normally / safe mode / LKGC etc). I then only applied the RVM131 and all worked perfectly; Next: RVM131 and nLited the cd to 150MB: all perfect; Skipped XPize (it is not necessary anyway) Next: RVM131 + nLite (same source as working version above) + BTS (all of them, all the latest packs and base pack redownloaded 3 times tonight): same error as mentioned above. I also noted that on several occasions my winnt.sif was overwritten by BTS driver packs (it only mentioned 2 entries, where nLite had made about 20 I think). The only mod I made to the run_me.cmd is to remove the check for KB888111, as mentioned in this forum by Buletov. I have always used method 2, RunOnceEx and didn't keep the drivers. Hope this helps in anyway. Zl. /EDIT: last test for tonight was to test RVM131 + nLite + drivers integrated by nLite (the whole nForce4AMD666-package + radeon57 drivers), and I got the same error... So anybody got any clue what causes this problem? Probably the nForce4-drivers - I'll try older drivers tomorrow (If I still have some of them around)
  10. Will try it again later, but integrating as hotfixes with nLite didn't work (omitting the dx this time). Installing with SP5 integrated was a breeze however - I'd forgotten how fast Win2k was!!! THX! Will be experimenting some more... Zl.
  11. A few pages ago Gurgelmeyer wrote that there's no difference between installing it on a Gold CD or on a SP4 CD... I'm currently testing it with all the option packs. Integrated the SP with nLite SP feature and the option packs with the nLite Hotfixes feature... Zl. EDIT: hmmm... Installation halted when installing hardware. Maybe because the option packs were not meant to be installed as if they were hotfixes, so I'll try again without the optional packages. I hope someone can enlighten me how I should integrate all this candy into my installCD...
  12. Sounds awfully familiar with the new Longhorn/Vista. I think this is MS's way of introducinf/overhyping things: making promesses but not living up to them: all good things that were going to be in Longhorn are already stripped. It will be another cosmetic upgrade I'm afraid. Zl.
  13. Yep, but that doesn't help me moving the boxes from Win98 to Win2k... And not all pc's have the same hardware (in fact I don't think there are 2 of them with the same MoBo/Graphics-combo...) I've been thinking: If I could do a diff on the hard drive searching for added/altered files and then a diff on the registry, with the possibility to 'record' the differences, then this might be the apllication I'm looking for. Does it exist, or something of the like? THX! Zl.
  14. THX for your reply! This would be very useful, but first I have to learn what the current installer changes (files, reg entries, whatever...). Only then I can think of making my own installer - which is of course my ultimate goal... Zl.
  15. Hello, First of all: I have quite a good knowledge of Windows and in general also its applications (installing/troubleshooting them for myself and others), but I don't have a clue about programming or low-level knowledge of what goes on inside an OS or the PC itself. My question is: a) what happens in general when a program installs itself through a supplied installer and B) can I reproduce these steps myself without the installer? Probably some files are being copied to the installation dir and possibly some registry-entries are being written. Now, the purpose of this question is that we use an application at the office, which we have licensed for all our computers. These licences come with a price we are happy to pay, but also the company is charging hard cash for remote installs everytime the application needs to be re-installed (following a crash, upgrade or replacement, which happens more than we would like in this small office), and also: we depend on this company to do the installation for us, so if they don't have the time, we have to miss a PC for several hours or even days... We are almost all still working with Win98 because of these upgrade fees, and I would like to switch to win2k or winXP (some of our machines are up to XP, others still not, so 2K will probably be it for now), but I would like to find out what happens when the softwarecompany installs the soft. Could I run a program to see what has changed since they took over the PC, reproduce what they have changed and copy the changes to another computer? If the answer is yes, I would make an unattended install cd with these changes incorporated - Then a crash doesn't mean we have to miss a computer for several days: just replace the hardware and run the cd... THX in advance! Zl. PS: I know this sounds like I'm trying to circumvent a licence, but the program also needs to be installed on our server, and it only excepts connections for as many computers are licenced, so what I would like to do does not violate our licence!!
  16. This could come in very handy! Has someone tested this tool already without IEcore installed? If this should work, then there is really no reason to keep it now, is there (provided you have alternatives of course, like Mozilla Firefox for IE, Media Player Classic for WMP, Trillian for MSN...) Zl.
  17. THX for your answer! I tried searching the forum, but I would have never guessed my question had something to do with 'application switches', so I'm very sorry to have posted in the wrong section. On topic: the dutch spellchecker comes with an installer very similar to the office 2000-installation, complete with entering a valid Office license-number and everything. So I thought it might be possible to add the new laguage folders to the rest of the cd and then editing the installer file. This was my question - I realise now I was not very precise in my first post. I do realise that I can add a batch file (there are several ways apparently) to the installation, but I was looking for the 'smoothest' approach - anyway, I'll try a new search with the new keywords I have learnt THX Again! Zl.
  18. So, is it possible? I've always bought english software because it gets distributed earlier than localised versions and because heck, everything computer-related is ought to be in english, no ? But now I wondered: I have a dutch spellchecker lying around - is it possible to add it to the Office 2003 install cd in a way that I can chose during the installation if I want to install the dutch language pack or not? Maybe there's an app for Office such as nLite for Windows, who knows? Hope someone can clarify this. THX! Zl.
  19. I have the NEC2500A FWIW, because these software-packages work with every DVD-recorder: - ripping (+writing ISO-files): nothing comes close to DVDdecrypter; - DVD9 to DVD5: 'DVD-rebuilder' in combination with CCE if you'd like to keep the menu's and want to invest some time to get superb quality - If the DVD you'd like to backup should only be stripped from its extras and/or menus to fit your DVD, then DVDshrink is the (fast and good quality) way to go. You can get the progs and manuals @ www.doom9.net - bookmark that site and visit the forums to gather very interesting info on digital video... For your NEC DVD-burner I can really recommend the tool 'DVDinfoPro', which is capable of bitsetting your drive to write DVD-ROMs instead of DVD+R(W)s. In combination with the right brand of DVD+Rs this gives superb compatibility (I use Arita DVD+R with mediacode RICOHJNPR01) And for some bios-flash-related news, check this forum: http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php HTH! Zl.
