  1. put the files in $OEM$\$Docs into an SFX file & have it extract @ T-12

the problem occurs when windows sees the directory is already made

Thats a good idea, however it will old work if i was doing a scripted install - i am having the problem after a restore of partition 2. That is to say i have already installed the system to partition 1 via unattended method and then taken a ghost image of partition 1. now when i restore partition 1 from the backup image i have the problem stated above.

  2. Hi All,

I have been doing some stuff with unattended backup and installs using scripted installs and ghost. A user logs on to the system, their user account is created on partition 2 (system is on partition 1) so it is easy to restore or upgrade a system without having to do much with the user data.

This all works correctly, however the problem i have is after i restore partition 1 using ghost, and the same user logs on again, they have a new account created using the preferences in the default user profile because the system does know anything about their profile even know it is still on partition 2 - so the user profile folder is duplicated with the machine name appended. see below

    before restore

    d:\documents and settings\user1

    after restore

    d:\documents and settings\user1

    d:\documents and settings\user1.machine_name

Does anyone know how to overcome this issue?

Any and all help appreciated :)

  3. Hi jcarle,

Can i suggest another tool that would be handy? A tool similar to your Compression Bin but this tool would produce CAB files. Options could include either LHZ or MSZIP compression format, and the ability to drag whole directory/folders into the new tool to be compressed.

    What do you think?

  4. Heh, my SFX install (7zip based) is 11.7MB B)

Still no luck on the LiveUpdate settings, though :(

    Hi Ryan

Can you share with us the command line you use to compress your SAV install for sfx including autorun and silent install?

I have been playing with 7zip for a day or so but have had little joy getting it to work correctly. Previously have been using WinRAR.

  5. MS04-038: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer

    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=834707

Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for XP Service Pack 2 (KB834707)

Click to download the patch for Windows XP SP2 IE 6

    To integrate into your unattended install;

    WindowsXP-KB834707-x86-enu.exe /integrate:[path to your unattended install]\

NB: the path to the unattended install is not to the i386 folder the i386 folder is within the unattended installation path.

  6. `Felix: if rou read beond the line, you will see that only 1 thing is done. that was is done in the list above, doesn't mean yet that it is implemented, because i have not announced the release of this version yet. this version will carry number 2.4.0.0, and is not yet released

    Hi eagle,

Ok very sorry for the confussion. :blushing: so then there is still a bugs with the arrow button implementation.

    Cheers,

    Felix

  7. i've picked up the work on RunOnceEx.cmd Creator and am going to do the following for the next version:
    • Add Felix's suggestions from all 3 posts:
      • Arrows to move items (done)
      • When a program is selected, if insert is clicked, the new program will insert below the selected one
      • Tasknumber so you can rearrange yourselve
      • instead of rem PP, change it to set PP
      • if cdrom is selected, add the neccesairy code

[*]Add the programs suggested by some users to the database

      [*]Finish the plugin-support for loading

[*]Create a SDK so that you can add any extension for saving and loading

[*]Temporarily delete the Update Function until i found a better solution for that

[*]Change the installer, so that it will ask you if you want to overwrite it. this will not be done, it will be changed to: "Create a second table in the database to seperate the user-added entries from the included entries"

      [*]set increment number

    Hi eagle,

just doing some testing on the new version - few little bugs.

    1. the down arrow is not working - up arrow works fine.

    2. when using the up arrow you can only move one space up because the line is not highlighted after the first move.

    3. if you highlight a line, say in the middle of the list and then click on add - the new item is added to the bottom of the list...

    4. PP option has not been updated - i am not hassling you just not sure if it is supposed to be working or not.

    Other things tested

    1. web update of database works well... accept the database i have local is more up todate than the online version so no update was required.

    2. on installation - the EULA still states and old version - you may want to change that :)

    Hope the information is helpful.

  8. No prob. Check out my .NET SP1 installer too ;):P:D

Been OTLO 4 it, but haven't seen it, maybe I was looking in the wrong place?!?

This is the thread I was looking for it in, is this wrong?

Wrong thread. Look in the .NET SP1 thread. MSFN is also hosting the file now. If you go to the .NET page at unattended.msfn.org, it's linked there as well.
ryanvm i just notice that u are using the /qb what if you use /qn instead will that work?

    /qb is with progress bar

    /qn is without.

/qn will work fine. I personally like to see the status bar. Shoot me an IM and I can send you a version with the /qn switch.

BTW don't know if you guy's know but if you use /qb-! you get a status bar (which i prefer to see) without a cancel button - just using /qb provides cancel button.

  9. yes it's a nice program, i've only found 1 option missed, how can i change the position of the progress bar? hex?

Yes you are right and that was the firs thing I also noticed - I have written to the author and suggested that this option be included in the next version. We can cross our fingers and hope

  10. Why is the background grey? Anyway, simply replacing the background color won't work. Other colors in the palette need to be changed. FF FF FF to 00 00 00 for example.
the screen shot was taken in VMWARE and i didn't wait until it full rendered - but the background does come up white. I have changed the base 00 00 00 to ff ff ff as found here:

    00 00 00 00 15 1A 20 00 46 46 46 00 D2 3E 2D 00 01 65 53 00 05 35 B2 00 7E 7E 7E 00 00 92 89 00 FC 7F 5E 00 20 6B F7 00 FF A6 8D 00 04 DC 8E 00 1B BC F3 00 BC BC BC 00 FC FC FC FF FF FF

    Changed to:

    ff ff ff 00 15 1A 20 00 46 46 46 00 D2 3E 2D 00 01 65 53 00 05 35 B2 00 7E 7E 7E 00 00 92 89 00 FC 7F 5E 00 20 6B F7 00 FF A6 8D 00 04 DC 8E 00 1B BC F3 00 BC BC BC 00 FC FC FC FF FF FF

I'll do a quick test here and see if I missed any other issues that may be screwing things up.

    Cheers!

  11. Hi all,

For sometime now I have been reading all the topics and threads on changing the bootscreen images and colors, however I have had no joy changing the background to white. I extracted a bootscreen by swissboy from a SP1 kernel file and replaced the black on in SP2 kernel and changed the hex for the background to ff ff ff (white). Ok this worked correctly. However the boot screen when it changes to white doesn't show the images correctly. The image is simply and inverted Windows Logo screen.

below is what the boot screen should look like

    OriginalXPwhite_01.gif

But below this is what i get

    broken.gif

Can someone help me out with some suggestions on what i maybe doing wrong or how i may fix this? I would really appreciate it! I am getting really ticked off now after weeks trying to make this work.

    Felix
