for those interested, this solution is to use 1365Vidchng.exe on the second boot. I have automated it by adding it to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce before shutdown on the first boot.

how can i remove a REG_SZ key with a .reg file?? i'll try to explain myself: the key

it's used to not display the extension for .url files and i want to remove it. i know using [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\InternetShortcut] from a reg file causes the hive to be removed but i only want to remove the REG_SZ, someone can help me??

Simple you put the minus next the value like this

Is this what you have in your burning boot options?

If not this is what you need. If you have this correct make sure you have the correct boot.bin file.

@willpantin: but you can find it with a before/after registy (hive) comparison. You can create the shortcuts (and desktop) on a working system, place them where you like, and export the registry settings.

This is a little off topic - but what recommendations do you have for tracking Hive changes/ Hive comparison tools etc?

Where is this Intel INF 6.1 and Intel SATA/RAID 4.10 drivers you speak of? There's only the INF 6.0.1 and 3.5.1 SATA/RAID floppy version on the Intel site. (with the exception of 4.1.0 but its only the Windows application, no floppy version yet)

I was wondering if there is a way to have a range of configuration options on the Install CD that is to say i would like to have a couple of options like being able to choose between say booting with unattended option and have this setup using

[Data]

and another option with

The reason for this would be i would like to have 1 cd that would cater for most installation requirements.

[[Display] Settings issues/questions]

Hi All,

I have the unattended install working correctly and the first time the system boots after installation and autologon happens the system comes up with the correct settings as specified here

[Display]
    BitsPerPel = 32
    Xresolution = 1024
    YResolution = 768

However upon the next boot up the screen res goes to default and i have to manually set it again.

Any ideas how i can resolve this issue?

Have found the problem - i had made a typo I had named the file svcpack.ini instead of svcpack.inf. I have corrected this now and it is working...

I've come across the same problem in the past with different files. Renaming the file with all uppercase letters fixed it.

svcpack.inf > SVCPACK.INF

I currently have it named in all uppercase letters...

The error is happening when the copying process is happening from CD to HDD and it just says can't copy svcpack.inf - make sure you have the xp disk in etc... press esc to ignore or try again etc...

I have followed the instructions and examples here, however i am continuing to have this problem and yes i have deleted the svcpack.in_ file in the \i386 folder.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated

Taken from the documentation of [GUIUnattended]:

Important

Encrypting the Administrator password in the EncryptedAdminPassword entry disables AutoLogon.

So it's not a bug, it's a 'feature'....

Sorry, but I have no tip on a workaround for this.

Well i have been experiencing something strange and i thought i would ask around and see if any of you have experienced this problem or if there is a known solution - or maybe i have just stuffed up.

ok here is the GuiUnattended entries i am presently using in my winnt.sif.

Now the issue that i have is simple - the autologon doesn't occur... I have done some testing and if i put a plain text AdminPassword in and turn of the Encryption the Autologon works perfectly. example of working settings below.

AutoLogon=Yes

AutoLogonCount=1
