  1. Test write is traditionally a way to understand what "real life" maximum burning speed you can achieve on a given system. There are a lot of factors affecting these, and expecially with relatively slow buses and actual CD/DVD burners without a big cache or other form of overflow correction, it was quite normal to have a coaster as a result. The test is meant as a simultaion to measure actual data transfer speed available. In any case burning a bootCD at "maximum" speed is not a good idea, even today. For CD, lowest possible speed is advised. For DVD, medium speed seem to be better. jaclaz I'm not entirely sure where this "slow is better" mantra came from... Modern drives have write strategies tuned for high speeds. Want to test it out, have a Lite-On burner? Grab KProbe, make some test burns, and scan for C1/C2 errors. As long as you have low C1 errors and no C2 errors, you have essentially a perfect burn... which is easily attainable with TY media and a good burner, even at high speeds (40x+). My advice for good burns: Buy good media (ex: Taiyo Yuden CD-R/DVD±R, Verbatim DVD±RW), use quality drives (Plextor, LiteOn). // I use nero to make a bootable cd, never used nLite to make or burn an ISO... and have never had a problem.
  2. I've noted the same behavior when integrating IE7 and RyanVM with nLite. I ticked the box, it grayed out when i restarted and stayed ticked. Is there any test to determine if its working, even in limited capacity? I wonder...

    XP PRO VLK

I use Windows XP Professional SP2 VLK with no issues.
  4. Would it be possible to add the nLite components to the standard windows component infs in add/remove programs so when you remove a component you can just recheck a box to reinstall it (please insert CD blah blah). ...after I skimmed some threads of users having issues with removing too many things, I figured this might be a good idea. Maybe not a do-able thing, but I figured its worth throwing the idea out there.

    x64 totally broke.

Its not just me... its many users who hate WGA... The corporate users who refuse to roll out WGA to thousands of licensed desktops. The home users who have problems with WGA and their legit copies of windows (microsoft admits to about 20% of all reports are false positives). The power users that dont want what is essentially spyware calling home every day (or at all). The lawyers and their concerned clients who are suing microsoft to keep it out of their operating system. The RyanVM users that participate in the "Modified Ryan's pack 2.0.7 without WGAtray" thread at 6600+ views and 70+ posts, who dont want it in the pack to begin with. And Ryan, who finally has decided not to continue its inclusion in the main pack starting with version 2.1.0 (who will be creating a seperate addon pack for the stubborn users who demand it). The pirates? They hack WGA. WGA doesnt pose a problem to pirates. Anything can and will be cracked. WGA. It does not make sense. p.s. I welcome you to try and kick my a**.

I love the pack, with the exception of WGA included, which he is going to remove soon... so the pic is gone now. I still dont like him, and he doesnt like me, but thats okay.

    x64 totally broke.

It was connected as master, but jumper was set to slave... I swear I used the exact same disc, reinstalled another time, and it worked. Only change was jumper setting. It read discs but somehow it managed to throw off the windows setup!

    x64 totally broke.

Okay here are all 4 setup logs.... please, please let me know what is up. I formatted a full (not quick) NTFS format last time I formatted... wasted so much time for nothing. Athlon 64 3700+, eVGA 133-KE-NF41-XX motherboard, 1gb patriot ddr400 2-3-2-5 ram, geforce 7600gt, 160gb refurb hard drive. .... Thanks man. These errors mean i have no idea what. setuplogs.zip

  12. I have a legit, hologrammed copy of XP Pro x64 Corporate (MSDN). Copy CD to Hard Drive nLite 1.0 Final (Integrate NFM x64 Update Pack + DirectX Addon) EVERYTHING is gone. Nothing seems to install. My "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)" are like ~10MB put together. I wanted to *keep* IE. I made *SURE* I was working on the correct directory, straight from a copy from the CD. The CD is perfect and has no scratches. My .ini is attached. Please help, Thank you all, Kai445 Last_Session.ini
  13. Just use RyanVM's pack. He's a giant douche and the pack slowly has junk creeping into it (WGA, WGA Tray Notifications). But other than that, its relatively good.
  14. We're better off using 2000(SP4) or XP(SP2) as a base and stripping it down, not taking a stripped down OS and trying to build on top of it.
  15. (highlight below to reveal hidden text) What you'll need is AntiWPA ("Antiwpa-V3.4.6 for X64 and X86.zip" is the latest, afaik). There is an automated method of integrating it into your install CD, "PencilNeck's Antiwpa3 integration patch 1.1 for X86" is what you're after. antiwpa (dot) org (dot) ru

    netmon and nlite

I'm having trouble running nmap, getting errors about the "netmon protocol driver" and wondering if it was something that nLite removes... so I double checked, and I'm an id***. I removed it, so now I have to reinstall unless someone knows what to restore :-\ "Network Monitor Driver and Tools" in the "# network #" section of the last_session.ini. Ah well, live and learn. For my next cd I'm going to be more careful, though this is the only problem I've encountered, and its not nLite's fault, its mine :-) So I'd say my track record is very good. I'm gonna add some keywords here in case anyone else has this problem: netmon, net mon, npptools.dll, winpcap, nmap, network monitor. Last_Session.ini
  17. Umm... I dont think it was, cause hes been releasing new versions. I've decompiled the inno installers he uses to find out the switches to use, and didnt see anything particularly nefarious in there. I'd say 100% trustworthy.
  18. These are the switches to do an aim ad hack install (so after your silent aim classic or triton installs, you can then silently get rid of all the junk). This removes ads, enables cloning, keeps the original aim logo. It's very nice. /norestart is unnessicary, but I left it there. If you want to remove cloning, just remove the word "cloning" CHANGE (& #34;) to Double Quotes (")!! For some reason the forums mess them up, even when I wrap the strings in [ code ] boxes.. AIM Ad Hack 4.14 switches: /COMPONENTS="nosecondrow,nogamesnosecurity,aod,aolbrowser,aoltoolbar,viewpoint,netscape,wt,weatherbug,mysearc h,toolbar, original, cloning" /VERYSILENT /NORESTART Fortunately the AIM Ad Hack 5.0 for Triton is silent, but, when it performs the uninstalls on each component, two of the components let you know they were successfully uninstalled, and AIM starts up, so an AutoIt script will be needed to finish it off. And unfortunately AutoIt's "run" command wont pass switches to the installer, so this requires two files. PART 1 of 2: AIM Ad Hack 5.0beta21 AutoIt Script: AutoItSetOption("TrayIconHide", 1) AutoItSetOption("WinTitleMatchMode", 4) Run("TritonAdHack.cmd") ProcessWait("A~NSISu_.exe") ProcessClose("A~NSISu_.exe") ProcessWait("B~NSISu_.exe") ProcessClose("B~NSISu_.exe") ProcessWait("aolsoftware.exe") ProcessClose("aolsoftware.exe") ProcessWait("aim6.exe") ProcessClose("aim6.exe") Sleep(2000) ProcessClose("aim6.exe") ProcessClose("aolsoftware.exe") Exit PART 2 of 2: AIM Ad Hack 5.0beta21 CMD Launch (note the name of the .exe, change accordingly to whatever you name your Triton. No spaces in .exe allowed. Also, the whole command must be on one line.): TritonAdHack5021.exe /COMPONENTS="ads,hostmanager,aolbrowser,aoltoolbar,aod,sysinfo,tbsetup,loader,iphsend,plaxo,viewpoint,ampx,wt ,weatherbug, mysearch, toolbar" /VERYSILENT /NORESTART Aim Ad Hack can be downloaded from http://aimadhack.webhop.net/, you may need to "right-click" and "save as" to save the downloads. This is personally my favorite extension for removing things because it removs all the junk and ads, without adding anything else. Well, it adds cloning. Lastly: If you can figure a way to get parts 1 and 2 into just one autoit script, let me know. and if you are tired of having to do it all yourself, this .rar has the scripts and the aim ad hack all in it. Just unzip the files to the same folder, execute the file "TritonAdHack.exe" , and it'll run. The .au3 script source is included in the rar also. http://rapidshare.de/files/18461777/Triton...Triton.rar.html
  19. I wish nero would just seperate their **** apps up into individual downloads. I need something like.. ...replace Nero Wave Editor with Vision and Recode. Never used nero wave editor, but always use audacity. Audacity is great. Is there a guide to make my own version of "nero lite" somewhere? 'Till then, I'm still using yours cause i need to stick a lot of apps on a cd. Thank you for all your hard work.

  21. AAH! I'm sorry I hit post new for the wrong forum. This is supposed to be in the WLAN driver forum, obviously. I couldn't find a delete post button, please move or delete this. Sorry again.
  22. I was fairly confident that these were "generic" drivers, as they worked on my mom's compaq laptop with integrated Wireless G (with afterburner). The download was from the Microsoft Windows Update Catalog. WLAN -> "Broadcom Corporation" and sorted by "latest date" to find it. 23. Bad ram? http://www.memtest.org/#downiso . (You want "Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)" ) Download the Memtest ISO and burn it to CD. Boot with the CD and it contains a RAM diagnostic. Run the tests, and if there are ANY errors, your ram is: bad, going bad, or improperly clocked.
  24. XPero, I think the "check for xp64" or whatever in xpize is a horrible idea. I cant integrate it manually into a directory (like specifying D:\WindowsCD\I386) because it'll kick me out. (Sorry, somewhat unrelated to the topic. I like xpize alot other than that minor inconvenience. Thank you!)
  25. I'm going to community college right now and man, the courses for my programming degree are no joke, a nice mix of stuff like accounting, english, science/math. I actually want to know a healthy mix of programming, network administration, and security so I can be versatile and get a job doing pretty much anything with computers. After the programming degree, they offer a network security course (which consists of 3 core and 3 elective courses), and the 3 electives i'm going to use to pick up a cisco routing certificate (Routing I, II, and III). Also one thing to keep in mind is security accreditation for colleges is through the NSA so if you want to see what colleges near you are certified, check this site out (mine is). Nice thing about the Cisco courses is that they're hands on labs not just cram guides. I'd rather understand and learn the stuff behind the scenes then just memorize the cheatsheets. I also have a healthy hatred of Tech schools, if anyone cares to hear my little rant I'll repost it at these forums :-P
