Are you in a therapy group for internet junkies ? Bye, Alex

HI Bashrat, just a quick interim question ... any chance we will see a DP Graphics A including the New CAT 5.6 before tomorrow ? I need to install a new PC containing a Radeon tomorrow and would prefer to have a recent driver installed instead of 5.4 ... if at all possible ... If not ... oh well :-) Bye, Alex

Hi Bashrat, not intending to be a pain ... but since your are so busy these days why not release the driverpacks you already finished instead of waiting for everything to be finished. I don´t think there is a real reason to update the base and the rest of the driverpacks at the same time or is there ? I think it would be nicer if the driverpacks containing updated drivers would be released more often than the base ... Good luck for your exams ! Bye, Alex

Hi guys, thanks for your help so far. I have downloaded this orca program but I have no idea what to change amongst those many options in those rows and tables. But ... I was wrong on the reason for the installation failure during runonceex. I remembered to add the /le <pathtologfile> or /log switches to the silent install of those msi´s and so I quickly found out that the reason for the failing fotostory installation was not the missing internet access but a missing Windows Media Player 10 installation. I then installed WMP10 before fotostory and installation went fine that way. The reason for the failing Outlook personal folder backup tool installation is more complex though. The log does not show any error. I then found out that the msi seemingly only installs the tool for the account it is running in eg. the Administrator account in my case. So if I log in as the Administrator after installation, the tool is properly installed. However, for all other users it is not. Is there a way to install the tool for all users ?? Can I do this with orca or another switch ? If I need orca for that, which cell would I have to change ? I found a cell called property which lists a few variables, amongst them a property named "ApplicationUsers" but that is already set to the value of "AllUsers" ... Thanks for your help ! Alex

Hi ! I really looked everywhere but cannot find a solution for this. There are some Microsoft msi packages that refuse to install during unattended setup. Two of those are: the Fotostory for Windows 3 tool and the Outlook Personal Folder Backup tool. Those are msi packages that WILL install fine while in Windows using the usual "/quiet /passive /norestart" or "/QN, /QB" switches, however they ALWAYS fail to install from runonceex. No error message, the tool just does not get installed. I have noticed while trying to install the package from Windows, that the installer tries to contact Microsoft during installation (see pic). That is the only common thing between the two tools and it does not happen with other msi packages from Microsoft. Now there is no internet access available during runonceex, could this be the reason why those tools will not install from there successfully ? Is there a solution to that ? Any switch to install the package even without internet access ? Thanks for your help !

The new Intel Raid driver 5.00 is now available from Intel directly: Download Bye, Alex
-
Bashrat, yeah, I wasn´t able to unpack them either. I found the actual files in my temp folder AFTER installation only. According to M-Audio, they will continue to release drivers in this format from now on ... Anyway, I have uploaded the actual drivers to my webspace for you to get here. Notice, that there are a few new files in there (pcifmdio.dll, DMA.exe) compared to the last version. Also, a MS hotfix is included but this one seems to replace the portcls.sys file to an earlier versions but only on English and possibly pre SP2 Windows versions. I don´t know if it is needed or not. Bye, Alex

Hi Bashrat, if you are releasing a new version soon, please don´t forget to add the hardware ID I mentioned at the end of this thread for the VIA 8237 Southbridge. Here it is again: PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3149&SUBSYS_80ED1043 ( I think you need this one ) Thanks ! Bye, Alex

Oh, I see you are already using the 4.7 drivers and only the driverlist on your website is not up to date .... anyway, I am wondering why the 5.0 version is not available on the Intel site yet, I thought they are selling their 955 chipset already ?!? Bye, Alex
-
Hi Bashrat, would you please integrate the latest Intel Raid Controller drivers in your next massstorage pack ? According to your changelog you integrated the 4.5 version. On the Intel site there is a 4.7 version available AND there is an even newer version (5.0) available that supposedly supports the ICH5, ICH6 and the new ICH7 controllers. The link to the 4.7 versions is here I am sure you know the Station Drivers Website ? They will keep you updated on new driver updates ... Bye, Alex edit: the link to the 5.0 version in Station drivers seems to be broken and I could not find one on the Intel website either but the 4.7 link is working and this version includes support for the Mobile 915 chipset AHCI mode ...

Hi Bashrat, M-audio updated their Delta Audio drivers to the x.51 revision (from 48) Here is the link to the driver update. However, this driver comes with a installer and hides the actual driver files. I was able to find them after reboot in the temp directory, I have no idea what the installer actually does ... A few additional files were added (dma.exe, pcifmdio.dll etc.), also the driver comes with a Microsoft hotfix (Q813347_WXP_SP2_x86_ENU.exe) that does not install on my German windows and seemingly replaces portclck.sys to a pre SP" state but seemingly only on English Pre SP2 systems ?? If you are not able to extract the actual driver files from the installed I can send you the files .... Would you please update your driverpack ? Thanks, Alex

Siginet, that would fix the hanging problem but it would overwrite an existing title. The ONLY way to do this correctly would be to check for an existing runonceex.cmd and only write that complete line IF NONE is present !! Bye, Alex
-
Hi ! I saw that another user reported that problem in another thread already. It definitely still exists with fix Nr.3 and the updated fedit. Also ... I agree with Ghostrider, please check for an existing runonceex.cmd before writing the title heading in the BTS DP Roe file, my installation just hangs now at the 12 min. stage because I forgot to delete that line and I cannot get it to continue because you used cmdow ... Bye, Alex
-
Hi Bashrat and Djbe, thanks for fix Nr. 3! However, unfortunately, I still have to report problems: 1. The M1 folder did not get deleted after slipstream was complete. I posted this altready for fix 2 and it did not change with fix 3. 2. More importantly, Windows setup will stop right at the beginning with a message saying that line 8 of winnt.sif contains errors. I have attached my winnt.sif edit: I think the error comes from the many " " that were added in between the paths in OemDriversPath .... Bye, Alex

Hi BAM, I would not like that very much. Also I don´t have internet access during Windows setup and I have disabled IE as the default browser Also, I try to keep things clean ... without "ads" popping up ... Just my 2 cents ... Bye, Alex

AHH, I understand ! Thanks ! Bye, Alex

Hi Bashrat, Here is the link to the original Surecom driver. As for the HW ID´s ... which of the 4 groups (compatible IDs, Hardware ID´s etc.) do you need usually ? Bye, Alex
-
Hi ! Bam: thanks, I replaced the rar .... funny, I was in bed already when I suddenly realized that I forgot to delete a line in those files ... thanks for your PM ! djbe: great ! Thanks for fixing that ! Bye, Alex
-
loool ... what a cool feature ! Bye, Alex
-
Hi djbe and Bashrat, fix 2 is much better thanks, but I still noticed 2 small problems: Method 1, runonceex, not keeping drivers 1. The M1 folder is not deleted at the end of the slipstream process 2. winnt.sif is still edited in a "funny" way ... the OEM drivers path entry still contains empty lines ... I am attaching a copy of my winnt.sif before and after to this post ..... Bye, Alex

HI Bashrat, I have a nic here at home that uses the Realtek 8139C chip ( and has no problem using the Realtek driver) but has to be forced to use that driver because its ID is not used in the Reaktek inf. Modell is: Surecom EP 320X-R The Hardare ID´s are: PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8139&SUBSYS_032010BD&REV_10\4&2E98101C&0&50F0 PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8139&SUBSYS_032010BD&REV_10 PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8139&SUBSYS_032010BD PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8139&CC_020000 PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8139&CC_0200 PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8139&REV_10 PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8139 PCI\VEN_10EC&CC_020000 PCI\VEN_10EC&CC_0200 PCI\VEN_10EC PCI\CC_020000 PCI\CC_0200 pci\ven_10ec&dev_8139&subsys_813910ec&rev_10 I have not checked if it works with your LAN pack yet because I do´n´t have that card installed at the moment but I checked your supported devices list and the card is not mentioned so I guess it won´t. Would you add those ID´s to your next update ? I will install the card and test if it works then ... Thanks, Alex PS: I never know which HW ID you would actually need so I posted all I could find. Could you tell me which one you need ?
-
Hi djbe It was a plain rar .... strange enough ... Bye, Alex
-
Hi Bashrat, which HW ID would you need in general ? I see the following groups for each hardware: Hardware instance IDs Hardware IDs Compatible IDs Matching IDs I translated roughly from German, they may have different names in English, sorry. As for my suggestion. I understand your points, but .... 1. A newbie woulnd´t necessarily create unattended CD´s, let alone integrate driverpacks. At least thats what I think, I may be wrong. Even if I am, everyone learns from mistakes, even newbies (hopefully). Also, if you make a script, it won´t be much different from integrating a driverpack. The user of course needs to know which driver is needed for the hardware but that can be looked up in the manual, on the net, in this forum etc. Also you could mark this script "for professionals only" 2. As much as I value your driverpacks and the idea behind it (Unified Unattended CD works on every hardware) this manual HW ID business makes the latter a bit of a wish instead of reality. I know that is nothing you can change but it would help if the knowledge how to add your own ID´s would be more widerspread so that everyone is able to make your driverpacks work quickly on his (maybe new) hardware. As I said before, you could make sure that new ID`s are uploaded to your server everytime a person uses your script so you can still integrate them into your driverpack with every update. But of course I value your opinion ... no problem if you do not agree with my idea, unless you decide to go on vacation or something ... what would we do then ? Bye, Alex

Hi djbe, I mailed you my files as a rar archive but the mail came back saying "illegal attachment" .... anyway, I saw you found the problem ... :-) Thanks ! Alex
