  1. zerospeed, I fixed it. However the Intel Inf updates doesn't install any files, so using the driver compressor is useless for that one.
  2. Yeah the patching stuff. Great to see that work too. I haven't test my dutch build yet cause I'm working on RyanVM's pack now. It could be done to translate winboot.sys (actually io.sys) I have looked into the winboot.sys. It seems clear that there is some space to make a translation. It will be a hard job to test but there are some benefits.
  3. Just apply your tweaks twice: First with USERS\.DEFAULT and second with CURRENT USER. so these tweaks will apply to all users. Some system specific tweaks do however need to be applied to LOCAL MACHINE. Don't change these regtweaks or they will not work
  4. You can create limited user accounts. However to use some programs you need to set directory acces to read/write enabled. For example I use the following command during unattended installation: cacls "%programfiles%\Shareaza" /E /T /P Users:C Users is here the name of the limited users group.
  5. Swgreed, did you have to do things to make patching work on localized Windows 98? BTW, by using a hex editor you may be able to translate the English winboot.sys
  6. erpdude8, there are some alternatives. However Internet Explorer 6 will still be supported by Microsoft when IE7 comes out.
  7. Simonsays, don't talk s*h*i*t. SP 2.0 isn't language independant. Gape only said he will write some kind of a translation guide to help people around the world to create a custom version of the Unofficial Service Pack themselves. P.S. Waiting is the last thing you should do. Unite the Spanish people, grab the RC1 version, look at the setup infs insite and collect the Spanish Windows 98 system files. Well thats done Gape will have SP 2.0 final released. He will help you to get all the files into the exe package.
  8. The only problem I got with Windows XP SP2 is this error message. If I choose ignore it installs fine. However if you use /qb-! the setup does a rollback. By using /qb this will not occur
  9. Same problem for me. Through unattended install on T12 this happens. Anyone has fixed this one, if the answer is no I'll have to stick with autoit
  10. I do have some system files had popping up errors in exescope. I just ignored them. I need to test it anyway.
  11. I just want to thank you for updating the unattended guide on unattended.msfn.org. It is nice to see it separated in catagories You have included some information about Changing the resolution & Color Depth, see http://unattended.msfn.org/advanced/cosmet...ard/classic.htm. However this major tweak also works with the New Style Billboard.
  12. You can create Microsoft Catalog files by compiling code in VS.NET 2003 with some add-ons. Why would you need a catalog file?
  13. Sixpack, why don't you ask Microsoft? Only reason for me to translate Tweak UI 1.33 is to have the 98 SE Service Pack dutch. BTW I still need to patch keyb.com to work properly.
  14. Great, I will include it. For removal just remove tweakui.cpl from the windows\system32 directory in Windows XP
  15. Why would you log on differentely to Windows? You still need a username and a password
  16. They are just horrible slow with Windows 98 SE and ME patches All they have to do is copy / past some lines of code and compile the files for Windows 98 systems. I think it could be done in less than 1 hour
  17. Is Microsoft still making patches for Windows 98? I'm sure Gape will integrate these patches into SP 2.0
  18. Bashrat, do you use compression with your pack? I would love to have a separate printer driver package, however Windows doesn't install printers by default during Unattended Installation so it doesn't have to integrate on cd. I toke a look at the Samsung ML-1210 drivers, they are compressed about 700 KB
  19. Gape, as long as you keep altering the SP it stays RC. So when you feel RC1 was fine, you ment RC1 = Final. You can't release an altered package as final after RC1 when it's not tested yet. So of course the following version will be RC2, hopefully RC2 = Final
  20. For Dutch 98 SP 2.0 Release I'm including Dutch TweakUI 1.33, TweakUI_NL.zip Installation goes through the inf, right-click it and select install. Update: Link is up again, finally the complete Dutch Tweak UI with Dutch help file. See if it works properly, if it contains no spelling mistakes or whatever not working. Take a deep look at the helpfile. 130 pages of translated material --------------------- I need this tested to see there are no glitches with it. Please post found spelling mistakes, broken sentences etc. into this thread. Thanks in advance
  21. About the Microsoft Java VM, standard is an unpatched Java VM included with Windows 98 SE. I think either 98SE SP should provide the user the choice to remove the Java VM, or update it to the latest version.
  22. The files get removed when a user logs on to the system. So no critical Windows sytem files will get removed, but you can get rid of some files that are in use by some programs or the windows system
  23. Fonceur, problem solved. Difficult to track this one but the error was caused by difference in capitalization of filenames that broke the code.
