  1. Cool...then I guess i'm not an id***..... w00t
  2. I verified that when it came cause I ordered the chip on line. I also read the info on the chip itself. So, we'll see when I go hom and check it with CPUID.
  3. The BIOS screen flows by too fast to read the CPU frequency....I haven't installed CPUID yet to check it. I'll have to check it tonight when I get out of work....Which today is my last day, leaving NYC and moving to warmer weather. wooohoo!
  4. Back again about this new PC, I am in tweak mode with it now. Brief specs: A7N8X rev2.0 Athlon 2800+ 333FSB Corsair PC 2700 RAM (512 MB) The board came with the bus frequency set at 100, and when accompanied by a multiplier 12.5, I hope we all know we arrive at a chip frequnecy of 1250 MHz. I changed the bus frequency to 166 and keeping the same multiplier (which was the default), we now have a chip frequency of 2078 MHz or 2.08 GHz. I know the 2800+ chip is supposed to run at 2.25 GHz, which translates into keeping the bus at 166, and changing the multiplier to 13.5. Here's the kicker...when I changed the multiplier to 13.5 and kept everything else the same...it resulted in a chip frequency of 914 MHz. WTF (I have obtained a chip frequencies from the Windows+Break key combo). Any insight I could borrow from someone would be appreciated.
  5. I haven't, might you be able to point it out to me????
  6. I was concerned about the weight of that thing....I'm hoping the two screws used to hold it in place will work. It is very heavy. Seriously, I'm thinking i'll be able to make breakfast on the bottom sink... Anyway...thanks for your imput.
  7. All jokes aside regarding the description.... I whipped together a computer last night and before I installed the OS, I was reading the temperatures in the BIOS. While in the BIOS, with no software installed, the CPU was running at 114F (45C). That seems a little warm, but the sink/fan were working so no real issues there. I put an ASUS 9900 video card in, the Geforce 5800. The heat sink on bottom of the card, couldn't hold on to it due to the temperature being so hi. I could find no information on the spec ranges. I also thought I was getting the card that vents out a PCI slot, with a copper sink. I got the one that has a black and silver sink...with red on the fan. Any thoughts, why this puppy is so hot on the bottom of the card, and other than installing case fans and/or modding is this going to be acceptable?
  8. I have had to "force" a refresh more lately.
  9. GROLSCH if she's hot ....GUINNESS if she's not
  10. I own and burned about 500 disks with the 12x Plextor...have no complaints. I have "upgraded" to the Lite-on 52X and am having no issues there. Have burned, over burned, and have only made one coaster...due to my own fault. I recently built a computer for someone and purchased the newest Lite-on [black]. It's a great deal for everything plus delivery at $61.00. I would recommend the Lite-On burner.
  11. Tools>>options>>general tab>> "untick" the box that says sing me in automatically.
  12. Feel free to spend some time in NYC and you'll get the picture....
  13. Isn't the windows minimize key "Windows key + M"?
  14. personally, i'd like to add that i used to enjoy "Miner 49er" game on my father's old Texas Instruments P.O.S. Playing that sure does bringup memories of long hours wasted in front of the monitor...which btw was $10 away from being mono-chromatic.
  15. I think I've busted FatherJack playing Wolfenstein online once or twice....
  16. hey MSN re:replacing NIC cards once a month? I have 2 NICs in my pc and have never even considered doing that (one is SMC and the other is Netgear)I leave the PC on all the time and is has constant heavy network activity, so I guess my question would be why would I want to replace them? Am I simply unaware of something? Thanks
  17. check out Tomshardware....the new article on day 2 at Cebit has a product review of something similiar to what I think you're looking for....maybe Pinnacle movie box USB
  18. I am not too sure, as my networking is rusty but... Can you make the profile on the Xp wrokstation a local profile only? I do not believe that the domain profile will be used unless it could be drawn out from the cached domain profile..if it were cached at all. My only suggestion would be to make that user a "user" on that workstation under XP and then modify the user's rights using the administration console. If they require permissions that were granted to them under the domain profile, and cannot login to the domain....I don't think those rights will be allowed. Again my skills have rusted a bit, but I think it works something along these lines.
  19. good stuff...thanks for the info....
  20. I saw on Thermaltake's website that this little badboy would be released sometime in late February....anyone been able to find or priceone out???
