I'm on Win7 64 and I was able to install WAIK SP1 for Vista. I'm able to build images for 32 and 64 bit versions w/o any problems, following the batches by SausageHack (c/o Jeronimo). You might want to install Win7 FULL then run these batches. The best way would be to have a dedicated machine for building images so you can test them out. Still got the same problem. Uninstalled the old one and installed the one that I downloaded from that link. This really sucks

Ahh that's great. I decided to NOT keep all of the one's with pop-ups. I'll be installing soon so I'll report what happens. Maybe those dependencies should not be in the vLite preset in the first place. Use your own judgement really, but I recommend that you keep the ones that you aren't sure about. If you know that it's something you don't need/use, it may be smarter to just keep it.

I'm on the vLite step, when rebuilding, vLite has a ton of pop-ups on dependencies, should I keep or remove these dependent components?

Updated INI above. If you guys have problems after installation, I suggest recreating a new ISO with removing only the largest items such as Media Center, Tablet PC, Natural Language and ALL languages make up most of the reduction.

There's ini files for vlite 32-bit and 64-bit, just look around the threads here. vLite does work with Windows 7 but its very picky. I haven't had any major problems with mine. In fact, its pretty stable.

Are you using 32bit Win7? Have you tried the INI from the other forums (eeeuser)?

You could buy a USB to IDE adapter and use your desktop's DVD drive to install it temporarily. I'm not sure why the USB drive won't work. So do you have Windows 7 installed right now or not?

That's weird. When I removed Error Reporting, it would not complete the installation and a pop-up would come up that wer.dll is missing or something like that.

I tried both DX and OpenGL modes and still doesn't work. Maybe its due to ATI drivers or the card specifically?

I'm an old school gamer that plays UT99 so when I installed Vista, that particular game would stutter so I tried the DC Optimizer and it worked. It's not specifically compiled for Vista but it did solve my stutter problems. On Win7, I installed it thinking that UT99 would work but the game is not playable at all so it may not even be needed. I haven't tested newer games such as L4D or CoD5 without the DCO.

A couple things you'll need to keep for sure: - Error reporting - gives the wer.dll if removed - Windows firewall and dependencies - the firewall is very good so I would keep anyways - Secondary logon - lets you run as administrator on apps for non-admin users w/o logging off
