  1. okay checkboxes work fine... when I look at filetypes.. it does have everythiing selected (also the videofiletypes) except for some things at the end. This is when I don't use my own winamp.ini file. BUT when I use winamp.ini file with only the filetypes I want, only those are selected so I guess it works fine! In my RunOnceEx, I do mplayerc.exe /regvid (associate MPC with video filetypes) AFTER Winamp installation... But now I checked the registry... HKCR\.mpg: name | Type | Data | (standard) | REG_SZ | Winamp.File PerceivedType | REG_SZ | video Winamp_Back | REG_SZ | mpgfile HKCR\.mpg\PersistentHandler: (standard) | REG_SZ | {098f2470-bae0-11cd-b579-08002b30bfeb} It seems Winamp is assoc. with videofiletypes... but I think this has nothing to do with the MSI: When you start Winamp, it automatically associate itself with the selected filetypes in Options. I checked the registry AFTER I had started Winamp! If I should use my modified winamp.ini, the problem should be solved? Since it can only auto-associate at startup with the filetypes selected in the list (controlled by winamp.ini) ?
  2. @ lipswarez I think you are using an older version.... try downloading new one... I still get the question for language... and seems I'm not the only one... is there a way to configure the MSI to install for Firefox? I don't even care if it isn't installed for IE. EDIT: I just extracted the file with Winrar: mm_fl_sw_installer: FILE0001.DAT FILE0002.DAT FILE0003.DAT SHOCKWAVE_INSTALLER_FULL_ASDC.EXE SILENT INSTALL FLASH PLAYER 7 AX.EXE SILENT INSTALL FLASH PLAYER 7.EXE WISE0001.DLL Now to install Shockwave silent, use this: SHOCKWAVE_INSTALLER_FULL_ASDC.EXE /S it works! it does start up your internet browser (when used in RunOnceEx IE will still be default browser so IE will start up) but you can use taskkill to close ie automatically. for Flash: SILENT INSTALL FLASH PLAYER 7.EXE /S also seems to work! this works, also installed for FF, you can delete all other files since they are not needed (I think).
  3. The MSI only installs for IE, not for Firefox, the EXE does install (both Shockwave and Flash) for Firefox, but not Silent! The /S doesnt work.... do get to see an installer tray icon but then I am asked to select language.... when I've selected language... it seems to proceed silently... but then I'm also asked to restart the system! not silent at all! this is what I do to test it: Start>Run: C:\mm_fl_sw_installer.exe /S ENTER also tried Start>Run: CMD ENTER and in the commandline:C:\>mm_fl_sw_installer.exe /S How to install the EXE silent, really silent!?
  4. okay it seems I've been using an old unattended disc... wich still had MSI 5.06... stupid! tested the newly burned disc today... had an error in the RunOnceEx (didn't finish) but Winamp was installed correctly and I checked: all audio file types were selected NO video was selected also I have the ability to select Winamp when I want to play AudioCDs... So it was my mistake! sorry! As far as I have tested it works FINE! BUT I will test 2morrow or thursday, when I found the RunOnceEx error, and then check again.... didn't look in Regedit what the value was for .MPG... cos it seemed to work... anyways will post it in my next post in a day or 2 but so far.. GREAT WORK ALANOLL! (btw I've set all Winamp settings as I want them, then made a silent SFX (easy with Winrar) of the winamp.ini file in programfiles/winamp... set my RunOnceEx to unpack to Programfiles/winamp after Winamp is installed... seems to work just fine! so you can not only install Winamp unattended the way u want it, but also adjust the settings unattendedly! btw I do not use the ini file of older Winamp versions with new one)
  5. Regaud doesn't work correctly here... When I go to Options>File Types, I see almost everything is selected (including video filetypes), only somethings at the bottom of the list are not selected. this is my ini: perhaps its because I have Xregopt=1, I'm not sure if Xregopt has something to do with file associations. Also it seems I cannot enable "Launch Winamp for AudioCDs" (in the same menuscreen). I can enable it, but when I restart winamp I see it is still unchecked (so disabled). When I insert an audioCD, Windows asks what I want to do, but "play with Winamp" or something similar is not in the list!
  6. "XREGAUD = Associate Audio extensions. Default = 1; Any other will disable XREGVID = Associate Video extensions. Default = 1; Any other will disable" I LOVE THIS! whuahahaha just had to mention... it's really great! But ehh... if Winamp is no longer being developed... does this mean I will have to search a new player in a while? use MPC for all videofiles... but love Winamp for very efficient fast player with good Library and so... no other player can compete with this (Musicmatch is WAY to resources-consuming, plompy, large (>50mb) an not even ogg support)...
  7. Nice job! I'll be waiting for the 'associate file extensions' version... thats really great!
  8. Jdoe's method didnt work for me thats why I use this method (and this method is easier)... just called it your method cos that was easy. I know Simon already has every plugin in his package but I just wanted to make my own package... with some Dutch searchplugins and Dutch language added to the encoding selection in the tools menu and some tweaks for faster browser, and only flash/shockwave and java, want to keep it as small as possible. So now I have made my own and it's finished!
  9. perhaps it's a good idea to replace the cd reader plugin with this recommended one, in the MSI: http://url.ru/~copah/CDReader.htm It has 2 benefits: 1. Improved read quality, much closer to 100%. 2. Ability to use quality DAC of your audiocard. it uses the error correction every cddrive already has... the standard plugin and also windows media player don't make use of it.
  10. Using astalavista's method for unattended install of Firefox+profile now, works perfect and is very easy! Do have one question.... if I also make a SFX of the Plugins folder, with Flash, Shockwave and Java JRE 5 installed, will these plugins work? Or do I still have to run their installers? Because on the topicstart I also see some of these plugins are already in the pack... so this means you don't have to install them anymore?
  11. hmmm don't have a firewall installed (Windows fw is disabled) but I do have Kaspersky antivirus 5 running... but now I have a clou what the problem is so I'm gonna make it work (don't know how yet but that will come ) found the error! So I did the costumized install according to the Guide - mozilla firefox.htm in the ZIP file, using the .vbs files in Jdoe's method in the zipfile (PREPARE.VBS and FUSRDATA.VBS). I followed this guide several times... on 2 pc's, no firewall and no antivirus installed, but all with the same result: FF is installed, but no costumized profile... the default profile of FF is being used... Now I think I found the error: After install, and after restart (so after the file FUSRDATA.VBS has been executed) the C:\Documents and Settings\ZileXa\Application Data\Mozilla is empty! So if I start FF, FF uses its default profile since there is no profile at all in the dir... This is strange... my costumized profile IS extracted in the C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Application Data\ folder... I thought the FUSRDATA.VBS file copied the mozilla folder from this default user dir to the current users profile\application data... but that doesn't happen... I have WinXP2 with RyanVM's Hotfixpack... is it possible some hotfix is preventing the vbs to run correctly? I can hardly imagine it... or is there a bug in the VBS file? FUSRDATA.VBS:
  12. @Nologic The method that was described in the topicstart (now it's in the ZIP) seems easier to me to create my customized Firefox install with the settings/extensions/themes I want.. I tried this (now in the zip) method last week... Firefox does install and works, but I get the default profile instead of my modified profile... it seems the profile does get extracted to the right folder and also the .vbs file runs when an (new) windows useraccount logs in... but still getting the standard firefox profile! what could go wrong? I will perform the steps again... report later..
  13. hahaha ok no rush! take your time! EDIT perhaps it's a good idea to replace the cd reader plugin with this recommended one in the MSI: http://url.ru/~copah/CDReader.htm It has 2 benefits: 1. Improved read quality, much closer to 100%. 2. Ability to use quality DAC of your audiocard. it uses the error correction every cddrive already has... but the standard plugin and also windows media player don't use it...
  14. @SiMoNsAyS: I'm following your guide on the first post to make a default profile, Why not create a silent SFX archive instead of: REG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 5 /D "%CDROM%\SOFTWARE\FIREFOX\PROFILE.EXE /S" /f And perhaps also: %DEFAULTUSERPROFILE%\Application Data\ This way it would also work on other languages of Windows no switch is needed if the comments of the archive is: Path=%DEFAULTUSERPROFILE%\Application Data\ Silent=1 Overwrite=1 Or will this cause errors?
  15. Djees this can be way easier (unless you prefer the MSI, but this method also works for all future versions) by creating a self-extracting archive of the zipped Thunderbird version and set it as default mail app.. I use gonfreecs method for Firefox... works fine.. but different method for Thunderbird since I found this method way earlier and Firefox/mozilla method just recently: go to http://texturizer.net/thunderbird/download.html download Thunderbird zipped archive instead of Installer 1. unpack the archive to a new folder...select all contents of this folder 2. add them to a new WinRAR archive (rightclick, "add files to archive...." ) 3. set "compression method to "Best" and select "Create COMPACT archive" and "SFX archive" 4. now copy paste this to the 'Comment' tab: Path=Mozilla Thunderbird\ SavePath Silent=1 Overwrite=2 and press OK... you can add this exe file to your RunOnceEx without switches.. its already silent 5. set it as default mail app and create the shortcut in the startmenu by adding this to your regtweaks.reg file you call with cmdlines.txt or use RunOnceEx.. ;Set the Start Menu sticky for Mail [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Clients\mail] @="Mozilla Thunderbird" ;============================== ; Give details to make Thunderbird the default e-mail client [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Mozilla Thunderbird] @="Mozilla Thunderbird" "DLLPath"="C:\\PROGRA~1\\Mozilla Thunderbird\\mozMapi32.dll" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Mozilla Thunderbird\DefaultIcon] @="C:\\PROGRA~1\\Mozilla Thunderbird\\thunderbird.exe,0" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Mozilla Thunderbird\shell\open\command] @="C:\\PROGRA~1\\Mozilla Thunderbird\\thunderbird.exe -mail" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Mozilla Thunderbird\shell\properties] @="Thunderbird &Options" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Mozilla Thunderbird\shell\properties\command] @="C:\\PROGRA~1\\Mozilla Thunderbird\\thunderbird.exe -options" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Mozilla Thunderbird\protocols\mailto] @="URL:MailTo Protocol" "URL Protocol"="" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Mozilla Thunderbird\protocols\mailto\DefaultIcon] @="C:\\Program Files\\Mozilla Thunderbird\\thunderbird.exe,0" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Mozilla Thunderbird\protocols\mailto\shell\open\command] @="C:\\Program Files\\Mozilla Thunderbird\\thunderbird.exe -compose \"%1\"" yes it is pretty same as prathapml's method without preferences etc. but less steps so perhaps you can make less mistakes?
  16. I am sure there are comparisation tables on the net... I choose EAC after reading topics in hydrogenaudio.org (where audiophiles gather and test new Lame and other encoders... ) EAC is highly recommended by hydrogenaudio and guess they should have some comparisation tables or something... but if you read on the eac site about the new technique used..... and the fact it is the only ripper that uses the advanced possibilities of error correction of your CDdrive... you might already be satisfied... (have tested it with badly scratched discs wich didn't play well (not even on pc), ripped them... took some time but had perfect WAVs with no clips or disturbtions ) ontopic: alanoll has stated he will bring out a new MSI and it will have some more functions too this time
  17. separate switch for associations would be great! thanks!
  18. started over again, still didn't work, but then Nlite 99.4b2 came out and I build my CD all over again... after that added the (newly downloaded) drivers and now it works. Still don't know what went wrong but that doesn't matter, it works now! sorry for the negative post earlier, but it was driving me crazy!
  19. Wedge1 is correct... if you want quality for your encoded songs... you don't use Winamp and also not Musicmatch... EAC is the only application that can get the best quality out of an audioCD... http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/ what are those ini files? what do I have to put in them?
  20. think Im going for the method in the startpost... but if I understand correctly... the final steps you have to download the Mozilla Suite? and only copy and overwrite the setup.exe file from this installer package? How did you ever come up with this trick?
  21. DOES METHOD 2 WORK FOR ANYONE? And another thing (please read my reply above this one) in the method2.htm file: 4 EDIT to get the Sound Control Panels installed: -winnt.sif (add GuiRunOnce entries) OR -RunOnceEX.cmd (if necessary, also cmdlines.txt) ------------------ Step 4: what do you have to add to your dosnet.inf file? To get all the Sound Drivers' control panels installed, you have to run this batch file. So why do you need to do this? Because several manufacturers haven't made it easy: they've used separate setups, special copy/register mechanisms, or they haven't included a control panel at all! If you prefer GUIRunOnce, use Method A, if you prefer RunOnceEx, use method B. ------------------- with method2, you dont have to add anything to the dosnet.inf file! The titel is wrong.. Or am I reading wrong?? cos then the problems I have (see post above) this could be the cause...
  22. totoymola it would be very nice.. I use my unattended disc for a lot of different people... thats why I prefer a clean firefox.
  23. Shockwave 10.1 and Flash 7 but forget I mentioned it... How do I set the MSI to silently install without the pack of themes etc? I know the /qn and /qb switches. but how do I get this basic installation silently!?
