As I see it: 1) The pentium 2.4 NW ( has comes with a cooler, the Athlon don't. 2) The Athlon 2400+ outperforms the Pentium 4 2.4 3) The Chipsets are somewhat identical when it co mes to features comparing VIA P4X400 and VIA KT400 4) Pentium runs cooler than Athlon Above is not exactly news, but it shows how hard it can be to choose ...
Well, not everyone buy 5-6 PCs every year! ... I can see why one don't need APG 8x, no cards for it and it will propely be killed by PCI-express next year (much faster) ... But I see your point ... hmm ... then what ...
Hmmm ... Why would you choose the GA-8IEXP ??? It's features are quite crappy ... see the features Roughtly 200$ and it don't even have SATA, APG 8x, bluetooth, firewire or more then 2 USB ports ... Am I missing something here???
Naaa .. to expensive! ... anyways I hate those crappy paper launches ... Hmm ... I posted this so I maybe could a definitive answer, but it's as usually a mixed crowd ... I will say, I'm leaning towards the Pentium 4 2.4 ... But then the next problem comes! Should I chooese the one 100mhz bus or 133mhz ??? Which is best i terms of overclocking?? ... There are no real pages on this subject ... Anyone?
Im putting a new comp together next week and i can't (as many other) if I should but Athlon XP or Pentium 4... Im planning to buy either a pentium 4 2.4Ghz or Athlon XP 2400+ (2000mhz) ... The pentium 4 costs aprox. 15 dollars more than the Athlon XP ... My problem is ... I know that a pentium 4 can be pushed to 3.0 GHz without any problems. The Athlon can be clocked to around 2250mhz which would be the same as as 2700/2800+ ... Then theres the mather of chipsets. For AMD there is the KT400 which is quite good (No coments on crappy features plz). For Intel theres the i845E (Something from SIS worth buying??) ... So ... What do ya think? What should I do (suicide not an option) ... AMD or Intel???
