  1. problem solved with teledata consulting boot disk two programs will fail due to memory tinyrfc ntmtsr (or something like that) when you get to the command prompt type the name of each program that failed (one at a time) and hit enter this will reload the programs believe it or not then type smartdrv.exe (you may or may not want to format your C: now) and then: net use <DriveLetter>:<space>\\Server\sharefolder login with l/p then <DriveLetter><enter> unattend.bat and your all set for The Teledata and other XP Lan boot disks see the following: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=18255&hl=

  3. you'll have to or it'll act like its not doing anything and take forever (almost) heh as for usb drivers...maybe a way around this would be to do a lan/network (unattended) install if you have another computer in the house. I did btw there are a cpl of threads i started on it, one of which i may turn into a guide eventually both of which i'll post in a bit (not so easy to find for some reason in this forum) heh Unattended XP by LAN: (not finished yet but a start) http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=18255&hl= Unattended XP Lan Boot Disks: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=ST...t=0#entry126267
  4. I really don't understand what is so complicated about answering his/her topic question... see the following links http://unattended.msfn.org in particular this one: http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/winnt_sif.htm when you create your answer file check the same directory for a file called unnattend.bat edit that file (do not open! it will run right) change the paths to setupfiles and answerfile to the drive letter/partition you are installing form. (as long as it isn't c:) change all the paths in your cmdlines.txt/runonceex/etc to reflect the local hard disk partition that you want to install from, instead of the cdrom/systemdrive variables, in fact you do not need to use variables at all..you can use strictly drive letters/mount points if you want I hope this enough to help
  5. lol sorry i couldnt help but laugh btw i know this is unrelated to the topic but how do you do/make the jumping emoticons?
  6. Thnx again eh Will do And Hope that helps the other person too.
  7. A computer cannot have more than one computer name so the answer i'm sure is no but you can set the name via unnattend.txt - see ref.chm (Deployment tools) sidenote: you can have unnattend.txt assign -random- names tho so that my solve your problem
  8. Cpl of differences I know of: 1 is that you won't see what svpack.inf is actually doing 2nd is that they run about a minute apart http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/batch_commands.htm http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/timeline.htm personally i chucked them into RunOnceEx (loading from cmdlines.txt) so that i can see what svcpacks are being installed and if they fail or not.
  9. Flash, I don't have time to read this whole thread so i'll just say this... try loading smartdrv.exe at the end of your batchfile before unnattend.bat gets run that solved my problem (well at least one of them) with doing an lan unnattended via floppy boot I hope that helps/helped
  10. wouldnt the unattend switch mean silent? (just curious) And i think alot of ppl here are using RunOnceEx in cmdlines.txt so if its done the above way through guirunonce, theoretically it should be doable the RunOnceex from cmdlines way? (if unnattend means silent) And thanks eh, and about the boot menu, that's ok i'll just set the menu to 1 second or something
  11. Funny you should mention this... I was trying to load them from a lan distribution point... \\Server\distributionshare\drivers didn't work I tried to install them normally via \\Server\\distributionshare\$OEM$\$1\Drivers and that didn't work either... could be something to do with this tho; http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=18424 any ideas anyone?
  12. Could someone post an example or two for installing .inf's in cmdlines.txt please?
  13. Could someone post an example or two for loading an .inf in a runonceex please?
  14. yes i thought you might be replying to what he said but i prefer confirmation. so whattya say, would there be any reason for it not to be safe to add this to part of your runonce/cmdlines.txt/etc?
  15. re: OemFilesPath="path" just out of curiosity what would the correct syntax be? The correct syntax isn't mentioned in MY ref.chm either. lol (I'm having a problem loading cmdlines.txt also but via a lan distribution folder) I moved it and put the path excluding the $OEM$ (as ref.chm says wants the location of the folder if it's not under i386) does that mean that if you move it you include or not include the $OEM$ in the path? maybe this'll help the guy/girl who started this thread also
  16. Sup aaron, I'm not sure its such a good idea to expect ppl everyone to download something they think they already have or to have to figure out for themselves that the ref.chm your referring to is not the one provided with XP but a newer one/whatever.. What i was trying to say is this: as part of your quote at the bottom of the timeline page... a simple little addition to the effect of "(the ref.chm supplied on this guide)" and maybe another link to it. My other suggestion was to include [setupParams] (like the other sections) as part of the winnt.sif reference page you have there also.
  17. ay?? I don't exactly like the sound of that. It'd be nice to know which is the case... if i knew that we couln't run the consolde i might not even be doing this unattended install. if that is really the case it might be a good idea to warn ppl first as part of the guide? http://unattended.msfn.org/ (or maybe to clarify that if it isn't the case it would have to be installed later?) and if the latter is the case (that it is possible to install the console later) maybe it'd be a good idea mention that it can be added to your RunOnceEx/Cmdlines.txt/etc.
  18. no kidding eh http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=8341&st=450 not sure i can agree with that completely wouldn't it be alot better if ppl only posted original tweeks instead of all of them? ( as orginally requested) http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=8341 or even anywhere else in this forum for that matter or maybe "and" should be ommitted from "orginal and usefull" in that first post :-)
  19. to be a little more exact http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/oemfolders.htm
  20. emmmm from what hole did that pop out of??? lol i could have sworn i already mentioned that so the answer would be an obvious no so maybe that is what was/is needed to be added to the timeline page? (what rfm.ch and from where exactly) because it is not in the one supplied with xp as far as i can tell i mean if someone is going to refer to something maybe it would be a good idea to be a bit more definative.
  21. Crusher.. re: sorry my mistake i meant it would be nice to see it in the Unnattended "reference" page section (not the timeline) (I mentioned this today because i remembered looking for it -previously- and it wasn't there). Excuse me, but are you yelling at me? And...bzzt wrong sorry would i have said that it wasnt in there if i could find it in there?????? i don't know what distribution your using ...but i already said all this: I tried searching the index of ref.chm I tried looking under the Unattended.txt section of ref.chm i can't find it If i'm mistaken, where is it exactly then? btw you don't need to be such a smartass
  22. check here: http://unattended.msfn.org/index.htm and here: http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/timeline.htm speaking of which... quoted from that second url there; "I hope this helps! Please consult the ref.chm file if you ever need to take advantage of DetachedProgram or [setupParams]." I looked in ref.chm (/Support/Tools) (XP CD) and couldnt find any reference to SetupParams at all... lol checked MS's site also and only found reference to Win2K, I'm curious, can anyone confirm wether [setupParams] is supported in XP (as suggested) ? As an added note, If it is supported, it would be a great idea to have that indispensible timeline page updated
