  1. CFA DizNFO 2000 (Freeware ver) installs silent no problems used the -s switch - nothing more
  2. Looking for switches or silent install for Inmatrix Zoomplayer Player Switches http://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_download.shtml Sweet Video Player Plays everythign including quicktime/realplayer, and it has some integration with WinDVD and PowerDVD, so switches for this would be awesome. look up a skin called wyrm green (hard to find but is on some skin website/s somewhere check the Skin sites link off of zoomplayers online help) configurable buttons that take up minimal space (one i use) which is yet another couple of reasons i like using it.
  3. Yep it's do-able I've done it that way and also by LAN now thanks to some great insight on this forum i shoud add just replace the appropriate paths
  4. Btw here, I put together the tweak i mentioned [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics]"MinWidth"="-285"DL the attached .rar with (the folder with no name). (or you can make your own folder with no name by Making a new folder and hitting ALT-255) so what i do is this; copy the downloaded folder to any folder you want to test this in I call mine "Taskbar Shortcuts" (obvious isnt it) make a folder called/labeled "0" extract the rar/dump the no name folder into the "0" you have just made your template. Now copy that folder and call it "1" copy/dump your quicklaunch shortcuts into the folder with no name that is in the folder called "1" (after this you most likely wont want the quicklaunch no mo) add the regkey or modify the value in the registry (and if the value doesn't exist it's safe to make it or import it) Right click your Taskbar and Add The new Toolbar you just made Right click your Taskbar again and uncheck Quicklaunch (And move the new toolbar on your taskbar to where your Quicklaunch was if necessary) Note: If you can't get the buttons small enough to NOT display the 1st letter of each program you have open, you can adjust this by right clicking Desktop->Properties->Appearance->Active Tite Bar Size Note2: Turn off "glomming" and/or right click taskbar->properties-> uncheck group similar programs (or whatever it is, i'm working under win2k right now) (As far as i know this works on all Win OS's) _.rar _.rar
  5. g i wish so many ppl wouldn't post ALL of their tweaks, there were so many duplicates in this list it took ages to compile them into mine And please see the first post before you decide to post your tweaks here Here's an orginal tweak for this list [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics] "MinWidth"="-285" DL the attached .rar with no name (folder with no name). (or you can make your own folder with no name by Making a new folder and hitting ALT-255) so what to do is this; copy the download/folder to any directory you want to test this in I call mine "Taskbar Shortcuts" make a folder called/labeled "0" extract the rar/dump the no name folder into the "0" you have just made your template. Now copy that folder and call it "1" copy/dump your quicklaunch shortcuts into the folder with no name that is in the folder called "1" (after this you most likely wont want the quicklaunch no mo) add the regkey or modify the value in the registry (and if the value doesn't exist it's safe to make it or import it) Right click your Taskbar and Add The new Toolbar you just made Right click your Taskbar again and uncheck Quicklaunch (And move the new toolbar on your taskbar to where your Quicklaunch was if necessary) The next step in this procedure is the easiest one... check out this post/thread: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=18395 Note: If you can't get the buttons small enough to NOT display the 1st letter of each program you have open, you can adjust this by right clicking Desktop->Properties->Appearance->Active Tite Bar Size Note2: Turn off "glomming" and/or right click taskbar->properties-> uncheck group similar programs (or whatever it is, i'm working under win2k right now) (As far as i know this works on all Win OS's) _.rar
  6. Sup ppl! As the topic suggests, i would like to replace (or modify) the quicklaunch folder Reason for this is because i use a registry tweak that will reduce the size of the taskbar buttons, (Minwidth = -285) and i use that in conjuntion with an ALT trick (ALT250 or ALT255 i think) to make a folder that has no name. So now i have my own quicklaunch folder that can collapse to a single icon/button instead of the 3 or 4 icon/button spacing that quicklaunch has. I also do this with another folder with shortcuts to drive/folder locations, So in essence i have two custom quicklaunch (expandable) toolbars that fit in half than the space of one normal quicklaunch bar (when collapsed). 1) is it possible to make the quicklaunch folder collapse to a single icon/button as the above trick can do to a 'new' toolbar? but preferrably... 2) is it possible to redirect the quicklaunch folder to another location/folder (not called quicklaunch), ie. an alt250/alt255 folder or any other folder for that matter? and last but not least 3) And Is there a way to add a new toolbar during an unattended setup?
  7. another suggestion would be to just ommit the Vrefresh setting works for me
  8. Ditch Vrefresh? Not every monitor is going to have the same refresh rate so i would suggest ommitting it. I did and it works fine for me. If you read the ref.chm you'll find it in there...says something about the fact that if the display setting can't be matched it will find the next best match. (or something to that nature).
  9. Crusher: nope i believe you don't need any colon for a goto. I'd look it up for ya but i lent my mom my dos 6 manual for her to scan the characters codes from lol (she wanted em!!) lol And it is out of place in this forum, you just bumped my -important- topic to 2nd place lol http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=18349 Allanol: And I thought -I- typed fast
  10. Here's one for example: I've tried a few already and they all seem to have memory issues needless to say it prevents the install from being started (or completed). Here are a few boot disks i've tested one of which worked (install was successfull) but even that boot disk is unreliable (no longer works for me regardless of how many times i've reformatted/remade it and even edited it) Here are some of the bootdisks i've tried: Symantec Ghost v8 Drive Mapping & LAN boot disks: (not enough mem to run setup properly) Teledata Consulting Inc: http://tdonline.com/utilities.htm (worked once, but no longer works properly for some reason) see: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=18255&st=30 Universal TCP-IP Network Bootdisk for M$ Networks: http://members.iinet.net.au/~bdriver/bootd...nload.htm#build (won't even boot - "system disk error") (theres some info about making your own cdrom boot disks there also) Note: I have (and actually working on another) dual boot (XP1st/2K2nd) boot system with a System Commander MBR installed but it made no difference on the attempt that worked. (Not sure if it's making any difference now but i'm using it to hide the 2K partition from XP so that the drive letters and programs partitions work out properly). I realize this is a slightly more complicated setup (but it's worth the grief) Any help would be greatly appreciated
  11. Anyone having problems with LAN boot disks for installing unattended XP? Post your problems/fixes/bootdisks here
  12. well i think i figured out how to do rest of the app installs via lan but... now the bootdisk stopped working NET01100: Insufficient memory to load Tiny RFC 1.0 NET01100: Insufficient memory to load NMTSR 1.0 Error 7361: IPX or NETBIOS must be running in order to load the network services I don't get it...It worked before just fine before...(but only after formatting the primary partition as FAT32)...now I've remade the floppy 3 times now...formatted the drive 3 times now and same thing? don't suppose anyone has seen this before?
  13. You might want to check these links out: http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/oemfolders.htm http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/drivers.htm OEMPNPDriversPath=c:\sysprep\i386\$oem$\$1\drivers\niclooks like it could be your path
  14. No problem (I thought you were being sarcastic at first) but anyway yep come to think about it i do have a question! From my previous post: Ok MapDrive.cmd worked half right... This was my layout beforehand: (all on a single disk) P=Partiton P1: C:WINXP P2: C:WIN2K P3: D:WINXP.PROGRAMS P4: D:WIN2K.PROGRAMS P5: E:STORAGE Again, both C's were hidden from each other via bootmanager both D's were hidden from each other via Administrative Tools>Computer Management->Disk Management Now after running Mapdrive on an Unattended XP Install.. The Drive Leters turn out like this (under XP) P1: C:WINXP P3: D:WINXP.PROGRAMS <-perfect P4: E:2K.PROGRAMS P5 F:STORAGE So P2: C:WIN2K is still hidden in Windows Explorer = perfect. P3: D:\WINXP.PROGRAMS is exactly where i want it = perfect but P3: is visible which in turn messes up where i want "Documents and Settings" to be (Mapped to P5) with the drive letter E: Now i put all the DRIVE.x (x=drive letter) in each respective partition i want it to be (to XP): P1: DRIVE.c P2: DRIVE.g P3: DRIVE.d P4: DRIVE.f P5: DRIVE.e And i don't think swapping the DRIVE.g file with DRIVE.f file will accomplish anything because P2: is obviously still hidden. So theoretically it should have worked perfectly but... Anyway i normally hide the additional partitions via Disk Management so would there be a reg key to hide the additional ones or any other ideas? workarounds? fixes? I really need a fix for this..because doing it this way was the original reason i investigated this unnattended install method. I read that it was the best/most reliable way to remap Program Files and the Profile & Settings Dirs. Not to mention the fact that i have carpal tunnel syndrome/rsi and have to stop doing so much computer work. Even though that's what i do for a living. (All more the reason).
  15. oh great a week on this and now its Active Directory lol. argh Actually i know of Active Directory just didn't clue in to the abbreviation And don't you need Server or Advanced Server to run AD? Anyway, I don't know but wouldnt there be a registry entry or two for what someone would have currently mounted? (a registry entry or entries for the mount point) And if we could export that registry key and have it load in runonceex!! ? And the mount coold be made if acct had the same password no? question would be when it would be made tho eh? Anyone know? Or anyone know if this is possible?
  16. oh ok sorry doh = oops (made a mistake) k = OK (as in alright) tho = though or although n/m = nevermind anything else? I don't mind even though my hand hurts
  17. so are your saying there can be no connectivity at the 12-13 minute mark? and that you would have to run your runonceex after the 1st reboot but really there should be a way a reg key that makes the mount emmediately after the network can intitialize? Please? hehehe Anyway I'm pretty sure there is a way to make the admin acct have no password for a boot (could have another key set the pass at the next shutdown or next boot?) ok i don't quite understand that part well i do but what does AD stand for and i hope it's included and takes 1 second to implement lol anyway wouldnt RunOnceEx be capable of doing that? or no your scaring me again
  18. Ok, but here's the thing, aside from what xp has to have i don't want anything (else) installed from local drives and that includes office so...where did the unattend go... because it's still asking hehehe and sup mdes! so should i just change everything to \\path? and will that even work?
  19. ok but i don't see much of a difference between these two... set AnswerFile=.\unattend.txtset SetupFiles=Z:\i386 Z:\i386\winnt /s:%SetupFiles% /unattend:%AnswerFile%and k:\i386\winnt.exe /u:k:\i386\winnt.sif /s:k:\i386look kinda the same to me and yes unnattend.bat is on the root of the mount point (Z:)
  20. ok i'm thinking i could have a problem... now that the floppy is gone... I've set all the 'other' install apps in runonceex to install off of Z: hhmmmm....ok i don't think it's calling the unnattend.txt anymore it's asking for everything now is there a regkey to map a drive off the lan? because i havent seen one lol or do i just put //servername/path ? tell me that's it
  21. Well...that's the faster than any cdrom i've ever seen hehehehe setup is copying files 99% woooT!!
  22. heh..umm maybe thats what it is lol I looked into the boot floppy/ramdrive's directory structure and saw smartdrv there so i automatically ASSumed that it was in there. Well ..we all know what assuming does. hehehe any particular switches i should use?
