  1. jdub, it is not a known problem to me. I create an administrator account and AutoLog it with no such problem. So, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  2. docmorris-17, I think your processor is not an MP and I suggest you try 'ComputerType = Automatic', but I do not think this is your problem. I did a Google on 'mce 2005 sp3' and got lots of hits. I suggest you do the same and see if you can get some help, but I also don't think this is your problem. It does look like MCE 2005 uses SP3. Your real problem seems to be that nLite is not completing. Please remove your installed copy and DL a new copy from the nLite web site. Check the MD5 and make sure it is correct. I use HashTab for this, but there are many free hash checkers out there. Enjoy, John.
  3. g-force, I do not know why nLite cannot integrate some hot fixes but if you will look at the Kurt_Aust thread about XP x64 (in my post above), you will see a list for my OS. If you will look in your SVCPACK (after nLite) you will see the .CAT (.CA_) files for your hot fixes but also .EXE files for some hot fixes. I think this means nLite could not integrate the fix (may well have an /Integrate switch) and nuhi has detected the hot fix and put the .EXE into SVCPACK. I hope someone with better information will correct/enhance my opinions. Enjoy, John.
  4. tetrapro, have not seen this one before, so, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  5. akiver, thanks for the screen shots and I am glad you have a running AddOn! 5eraph, thanks for the link to the IE8 Tweaks. Have fun, John.
  6. podonnell, in case you did not read g-force's signature (great!), please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John. I just looked deeper and there are several updates that will not integrate via nLite and must be directly integrated - KB938464 in one of them. You can do this out of the RunOnce exit. Please take a look at this great tutorial on XP x64 complete install, and you'll see how he does KB938464. Enjoy, John.
  7. akiver, please post the error you got (screen shot). I assume you meant to type .cab not .bac? Please post Windows Explorer screen shots of your SVCPACK folder, the folder you made the silent installer from and the folder you made into a .cab file. Did you create a config.txt file and include it into your folder containing the IE8 installer file? If you like, you can attach your entries, config and directive (.ddf) files for us to look at. You can place them in a folder and compress them with 7-Zip or your favorite compression SW. Enjoy, John.
  8. docmorris-17, I cannot read German, but the only thing I wonder about in your LS is 'ACPI-Multiprozessor-PC'. What kind of processor do you have? A dual core or even quad core, if it is a single chip, is not classified as an MP, and you should set 'ComputerType = Automatic.' The bigger question I have is, is that your entire nLite.inf? Mine (XP x64) has over 23000 lines in it and yours less than 300. NLite modifies many files, including HIVE*.INF files. You might look here to see what you can find. Some or all may be compressed, so look for .IN_ files also. Did you get any errors in your nLite run? Some versions of MCE will not accept SP3. Are you sure yours does? Good luck, John.
  9. akiver, sorry I do not understand the question. You should place only the cabinet (.cab) into the Hot Fixes area of nLite. What do you mean, please? Enjoy, John.
  10. docmorris-17, don't have answers with the information supplied, so, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. According to my searches, it looks like nLite creates or modifies at least 37 files. At least 5 of the HIVE*.inf files are modified. Some files are compressed into *.**_ and hard to find, but you can sort by date. Enjoy, John.
  11. LeveL, a True-AddOn (also, INF-AddOn, Slipstream-AddOn, Real-AddOn and probably more) is much better. They can contain the update (KB968220), and are integrated. They are much more difficult, subtle and complex. Sereby (wrote the Slipstream-AddOn for IE8 32 bit) on the RyanVM forums commented that he would work on a 64 bit version. I am waiting for it to come and I will abandon this one. Enjoy, John.
  12. mesheree, you can always open nLite (as long as you have a source to point it to) and look at any Task, Help, etc, then simply click Cancel. If you get to the point where it says 'Do you want to start processing', click No. I need to look at some things and run an experiment on my VM, so, I'll get back later on the rest. Enjoy, John. EDIT: I also should point out that you need make no changes to view items in nLite. You only need a valid Windows folder. Since I still have seen no Last Session, I point out that all the Last Sessions, with date/time codes can be found here: C:\Program Files\nLite\Presets cmdlines.txt is in the $OEM$ file and you must have OEM Preinstall enabled - READ the help, PLEASE! EDIT2: I think the nuhi (nLite owner/author) thread you pointed to is no longer valid (2006). The cmdlines.txt calls nLite.inf, nLite's main inf. Take a look at it (nLite.in_). I suspect AutoLogon has nothing to do with your problem. I learned nothing from my VM experiment. Can you point me to where you got the SCSI text mode driver? I am running XP x64 and will need a different driver to test. After we see your Last Session, we may be able to offer better advice. Enjoy, John.
  13. docta, I know little about MCE, but I do know that some versions of MCE are not capable of accepting SP3. Searches should reveal the versions if you are not familiar. Others have been successful with nLite and MCE. So, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  14. LeveL, it does not need to be passive - just what I use. Quiet is fine. I am not familiar with /update-no, so can't comment on it. You can always try these things easily. Enjoy, John. akiver, I posted a link in the bottom EDIT on the my first post. The instructions of 7-Zip Help is where I learned. Enjoy, John.
  15. Sorry about that, mesheree. I guess I should have broken your name down and figured it out myself or made my reply gender neutral. After my experience with the floppy, I was thinking that VMware Server (are you using Server, Player, Workstation or ...?), is using the floppy to get its SCSI driver installed. Perhaps this is really a VMware design that is not possible to work around as you are trying to do. I really don't know what you're trying to accomplish, so it is hard to help. We can learn much from the Last Session. I will look at the Disable OEM Preinstall connection. Perhaps VM is doing some kind of fake F6 that is getting in your way. Be sure to read the Help (? in circle) next to the OEM Preinstall drop down in Unattended. Enjoy, John.
  16. OK, I made an SVCPACK type AddOn for IE8 XP x64. This file can be placed into nLite's Hot Fixes area, but the actual install does not take place until SVCPACK is processed at T-13. The process is relatively easy but a little tricky in a couple of places. Here are my steps: DL IE8 installer from MS DL Center. Create an IE8 silent installer, with the switches /PASSIVE /NORESTART. Use /QUIET in place of /PASSIVE to see nothing during install. Create a folder called SVCPACK and place your silent installer in it. Create an entries.ini file. Place your SVCPACK folder and entries.ini file into a folder. Make a cabinet file on the previous folder. Some comments. I use 7-Zip to create my silent installer. The instructions are in the Help of 7-Zip. Here is the config.txt file I use: ;!@Install@!UTF-8! Progress="yes" BeginPrompt="" Title="Install Internet Explorer 8" Directory="" RunProgram="x64_IE8\IE8-WindowsServer2003-x64-ENU.exe /PASSIVE /NORESTART" ;!@InstallEnd@! I use Windows MakeCab to create the cabinet file, using the directive file (file type .ddf) here: ; Directive for making a large Cabinet file (<1 GB). The active directory must point to the folder ; containing the files/folders to be made into a .CAB file. ; MakeCab /f IE8_MakeCab.ddf, output will go to active directory .OPTION EXPLICIT .Set CabinetNameTemplate=x64_IE8_AddOn.CAB .Set MaxCabinetSize=1000000000 .Set MaxDiskSize=1000000000 .Set Cabinet=on .Set Compress=on Entries_x64_IE8.ini .Set DestinationDir=SVCPACK SVCPACK\x64_IE8.exe And finally, here is my entries file (Entries_x64_IE8.ini): [general] builddate=03/29/2009 description=XP x64 IE8 RTM AddOn language=English title=x64_IE8 version=1.0 website=http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=d044402c-84ce-472e-b3ac-9531f4feef47 [EditFile] AMD64\SVCPACK.INF,SetupHotfixesToRun,AddProgram [AddProgram] x64_IE8.exeIt does work - currently running IE8 on my VM. Any updates to IE8 must be installed out of the RunOnce exit or after install, since IE8 is not installed until T-13. The various file names are not important as long as consistent, except for the entries file name must contain the word entries and the SVCPACK must be just that. Have fun, John. EDIT: I should have pointed out that I started with the instructions in the AddOn sub-forum just above this one, here - even has pictures! I just adapted them to x64. Here is a post for making a silent installer. EDIT2: You can change the switch /PASSIVE to /QUIET to see nothing during IE8 install.
  17. Hey,sidefx88 , look at this I found. Enjoy, John.
  18. mapster, ENU is ENglish, United States. If you will attach your Last Session, we may be able to determine the type it is. What g-force is asking is, is your Windows CD in Norwegian or is it English with Multilanguage User Interface (MUI)? Not remembering the exact words I had to Google MUI to get them. Running nLite against a source folder that already had nLite run against is asking for strange symptoms such as Blue Screens of Death (BSODs.) Have fun, John.
  19. g-force, here are his drivers in a easily readable format. Enjoy, John EDIT: After looking at mesheree's floppy image on my VM, I left it connected and started a new install from an ISO. I got an error, and guess what it was? Exactly! - /vmscsi.sys is missing....error code 22. When I disconnected the floppy and reconnected the A: disk, all is well. Perhaps there is something to be learned here! Enjoy, John.
  20. mesheree, attach your Last Session.ini, if you want help. I run VMware Server on my XP x64 and use nLite to integrate the VMware audio text mode driver and that works fine. John.
  21. sidefx88, Gui part. I did see something via Google when I was searching for the skins about text mode background. I, at one time, looked to see if I could get rid of the F6 prompt since most don't use it (and can't). A poster asked the question. When I install under VMware Server, most of my screen is black (nLite's Options). I would like to change that. Thanks, John.
  22. sidefx88, wow, thanks a lot! I can't use these directly, since they are all 32 bit and I am running XP x64, but I should be able to get the images and use them. I use CFF Explorer from Explorer Suite for my resource editor, since it supports 64 bit and Resource Hacker does not. At one time I played with the background color but I cannot remember how or what file I modified to do it. Are you aware of the file for the background color during install? Enjoy and thanks, John.
  23. sidefx88, this does not look to bad, but I cannot find any images I like. Where did you find the one you posted? Do you have the original image, not just a screen shot? I still can't get the German site to open. Can you? Enjoy, John.
  24. Ponch, thanks, I learned something. I attached the image to my VM and took a look at it. Enjoy, John. mesheree, the text mode drivers you posted are for VMware, not a real machine. What kind of silly game are you playing? John
  25. thundergold, please remove the _U.ini files as soon as possible! These files contain your key and other private data! We only need the .ini files. John. EDIT: You can go to User Accounts under Control Panel and remove one of the accounts but I don't think you want to remove the Administrator account and you may not be able to remove it. I don't think you really want to remove it. When you build a new ISO, using nLite, use the options on the Users tab in the Unattended section to remove the account you don't want and you may even be able to remove the Administrator here. Please let us know what you decide to do and what you learn. Have fun, John.
