  1. alanoll really? i hope they do fix it... i've never given it a shot but a bit sad to hear it doesn't work... was looking to be a great alternative to the usual methods... I mean, seriously, you could just copy your SCSI/RAID floppy driver disk into the Textmode folder, then add the 4 lines of code to winnt.sif and you would be away!
  2. I can see an error there... should be %windir%\resources
  3. if you set UnattendMode=DefaultHide I think it will do what you want and it won't have an error that all the info hasnt been provided
  4. for what he needs, you could build a computer for $50 more than likely p2-450 w/ 128mb memory running xp home or even win98
  5. it didn't work for me (xp sp1a) i did a quick registry compare and found out the following for XP SP1a Values modified:1 Original Value (Status Bar Off) HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2025429265-776561741-839522115-1003\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\ShellBrowser\ITBarLayout: 11 00 00 00 4C 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 24 00 00 00 1F 00 00 00 56 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 20 07 00 00 A0 0F 00 00 05 00 00 00 62 05 00 00 26 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 21 07 00 00 91 01 00 00 03 00 00 00 20 03 00 00 69 02 00 00 04 00 00 00 21 01 00 00 71 03 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00New Value (Status Bar Enabled) HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2025429265-776561741-839522115-1003\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\ShellBrowser\ITBarLayout: 11 00 00 00 4C 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 34 00 00 00 1F 00 00 00 56 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 20 07 00 00 A0 0F 00 00 05 00 00 00 62 05 00 00 26 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 21 07 00 00 91 01 00 00 03 00 00 00 20 03 00 00 69 02 00 00 04 00 00 00 21 01 00 00 71 03 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00Total changes:1 (the 24 on first line changed to 34) because it accesses the Users settings, is it possible to make a registry file to do this?
  6. yes, you need the actual OPK... you downloaded the wrong thing.. MSFN host it you can find the download link through the unattend guide
  7. just make them buy their own computer or, just tell them they aren't allowed to use your computer at all.. if they all chucked in some money, surely it wouldn't be more than a few hundred each for a decent system? talking US dollars of course... decent system in australia is probably $900 hehe...
  8. you probably don't have a customised uxtheme.dll ?!?!? if you don't have one of these, you cannot load un-signed theme files (and styles)
  9. umm... I've never seen anyone do this before (I thought it was possible to fit WinXP, Office2K3, plus other apps on a single CDR?) If not, why not go and buy a DVD burner they are so cheap these days I just bought an 8x LG Super-Multi Drive (DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW, DVD-RAM) for only $175 AUD (about $100USD) One method might be, when your RUNONCE commands are being executed, make the first command a batch file, which pauses and tells the user to change the CD to Disc 2 (even better, have a program eject the drive and pause)... then you put disk number 2 in, press any key to continue and away it goes... you will obviously have to use the "running applications from CD through RunOnce" examples in MSFN's Unattend Guide to know how to make RunOnce install from the CD drive letter... I think this would definitely work but you would have to try it yourself
  10. I have never tested the Textmode directory method of mass storage driver installation, but, here is some information directly from Microsoft themselves about how to do it: 1) OEMPreinstall has to be set to YES 2) Place the Driver files (.sys) in the Textmode folder 3) Place a valid txtsetup.oem in the Textmode folder (one file for all drivers) 4) In unattend file, add section [OEMBootFiles] with value SCSI_Driver_File_Name=iaStor (for Intel SATA Driver for example) 5) In unattend file, add section [MassStorageDrivers] with value iaStor=OEM (for Intel SATA Driver for example) That should be it from what I read... I didn't fully understand the section "must match one of the strings defined in the right-hand side of the [sCSI] section" but hey, you will figure it out i guess
  11. Win9x support RunOnce commands in the Registry... just create a RunOnce entry somehow
  12. it's tad hard to search for it I just tried (can't search for a 3 letter string) the WPI topic is here If you want some help, I can help you with the WPI files (biggest hint, all your errors will be in the styles.js file)
  13. your useraccounts.cmd should have the first line changed to net user "Jojo" password /addyour autologon.reg should have an additional line "DefaultPassword"="password"and your winnt.sif needs additional line under [GuiUnattended] AutoLogon=Yesi think that is all... try that and see if you get auto logged on
  14. is there any way to add extra drivers into the existing drivers.cab so that we don't have to use the $OEM$ structure for installing the drivers using OemPnPDriversPath?
  15. no, it is CMDLINES.TXT definitely!as for the OemFilesPath the correct syntax would be (copied directly from ref.chm) and
  16. to make it on a dvd-disk is no different at all still use 'cdimage' tool to create the .ISO file still use 'nero' or your favorite program to burn the .ISO file use the Multi-Boot DVD guide from MSFN homepage to create a truly excellent bootable DVD I used that method to make a bootable CD that has an ATTENDED xp pro installation and an UNATTENDED xp pro installation plus several utilities like Norton Ghost, Drive Image, Partition Magic etc etc... and of course it still fitted onto a 700mb CDR disc.... this way I can run an ATTENDED installation if I want a recovery console, or a repair... and any other time I will run the UNATTENDED installation that does all my drivers and programs...
  17. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=18479
  18. if this works let me know... i'm sure other people will be interested in this too
  19. shouldn't this topic be under the device driver forum? the only type of 'run from cd' installs that I have read about apply to installing applications off the cdrom.... the only thing I can suggest is to use the DetachedProgram setting to run a batch file that edits the registry settings for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\DevicePathmore than likely you will have to add REG.EXE to your $OEM$\$$\system32 incase it hasn't been copied by that stage of setup reg /import device.regi can see this not working if gui setup is already detecting the hardware when the registry key gets changed, otherwise I don't see why it wouldn't work... that registry entry, that is the one that windows setup directly modifies based on the OEMPnPDriversPath entries put a file called CD.TXT on your CD root directory, you will need to make the batch file that adds the registry settings to look like cmdow @ /HID@echo off IF EXIST D:\CD.txt set CDROM=D:IF EXIST E:\CD.txt set CDROM=E:IF EXIST F:\CD.txt set CDROM=F: if "%CDROM"="D:" reg /import %CDROM%\Drivers\Reg\d-device.regif "%CDROM"="E:" reg /import %CDROM%\Drivers\Reg\e-device.regif "%CDROM"="F:" reg /import %CDROM%\Drivers\Reg\f-device.regand you will obviously have the 3 registry files each hard coded to point to a different drive, each modifying the registry for different CDROM paths this is my best guess if you want to load from a network share, use DetachedProgram to run a batch file that first runs subst and then changes the registry entry @echo offsubst z: \\server\shares\driversreg /import z:\drivers.regoh, by the way, I have no idea if any of this will work... but it's pretty close i imagine
  20. you can set ComputerName=* and it will generate a random computer name I haven't tried and doubt it would work doing ComputerName=COMP* or you could find the MAC address of each computer and use previous method
  21. make sure VPC2004 is set to "Allocate more CPU time to the virtual machine in the active window" and "Run Virtual PC at maximum speed" apart from that, ed2k and similar p2p clients suck mega resources (especially if you have over 500 connections) my vpc2004 installs are about 5 minutes slower than normal, but I am using internet and other stuff in the mean time
  22. OK I found it Set your computer name unattended...
  23. if you search the forums, you will find a few topics relating to setting the computers "Computer Name' based on the MAC address of the network adapter... therefore you can specify the names of as many different computers you want as long as you know the address's correctly... I just did a search for it though and couldn't find it :/ I know it is on the forums though I have read it (within last month)
  24. input.com says it doesn't work with 2k/xp, so you can only use it during the dos based section that boots from a 98 disk?
