  1. Thanks guys.... Do you know if these switches permit anything like customizing settings in Itunes, or somehow importing my current settings or playlists, smart or otherwise
  2. So iTunes 4.6 has some switches, but I honestly don't understand them fully.. /L Language ID /S Hide initialization doalog. For silent mode: /S /v /qn /V paramaters to MsiExec.exe /UA<url to InstMsiA.exe> /UW<urll to InstMsiW.exe> /UM<url to msi package> I discovered this accidently, but it was provided by the Installshield box. I found this on the installshield website... Does anyone undestand what this all means? I know the /S and im not sure how to work with the /L, but the rest is more or less jibberish.
  3. Just out of curiosity, is those so every time the machine boots, it reloads the image from Z? I know some networks and school campuses that do this
  4. I have no idea what you are asking. If it is how to include SP1 and the other updates into your unattended CD, then read the forums! It's incredibly simple. SLIPSTREAM SP1
  5. Yea, it definately is slower. I dont like that. But I guess unattended, who cares? It also doesn't automatically clean. I guess they need to touch up the switches
  6. I have that all set up. But as soon as the window pops up, it vanishes in a second.
  7. I am tryin to make a batch file to help with my debugging. I want to install, update, and run adaware silently. or at least by just using the batch script. So far, I've gotten the install, and a manual update. (I d/l the ref file in advance). I'm having trouble making the switches work. My code looks like this so far "C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware 6\Ad-Aware.exe" "C:" +a +0 The program starts, and exits immediatly.
  8. My bad. I misread. Just go to that registry setting in your XP if its set to NOT classic, and check the value.
  9. This has been mentioned on forum already many times.. Do a search for it. ;Control Panel - Classic View [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "ForceClassicControlPanel"=dword:00000001
  10. @eclipsed won't your method give EVERYONE the documents, not just one user?
  11. OK...bottom line. I have already made my office 2003 silent install. I was hoping to find a way to save the settings in my current outlook, and import them at sometime during the install. So here is my code: ECHO. ECHO Installing Office 2003 Professional with Frontpage ECHO Please wait... start /wait %systemdrive%\install2\Applications\Office2003\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=Unattended.MST /qb- ECHO. ECHO Configuring Office 2003 Settings ECHO Please wait... start /wait %systemdrive%\install2\Applications\OfficeSettings\proflwiz.exe /r "%systemdrive%\install2\Applications\OfficeSettings\Settings.OPS" [/d] Am I going about this the wrong way?
  12. I know you use the following command proflwiz.exe /r <path to file> [/d] Should I just get the proflwiz.exe file from my current installation and install that too?
  13. thats exactly what im tryin to save
  14. so the inf becomes part of the exe file?
  15. this is a dual part question... What codec packs does everyone use for their silent installation.. and how do you specifify which codecs/players get installed?
  16. I have the silent install of office 2003 done. I just never messed with it further than the instructions. I'll try it out now I guess.
  17. I currently have Outlook 2003 running. (i love it, for anyone debating using it) When I create my silent install, how can i include all my email settings. Rules, old emails, folder setups, accounts, etc...
  18. I have a dual monitor system setup. Video card: RADEON VE 7000. Monitor 1: BenQ FP731 Flat panel Monitor 2: Dell P780 When the screen saver comes up, both monitors work fine, but when it comes to standby more, the Monitor 1 goes to standby, and Monitor 2 goes to normal mode. How can I make both go to standby? (No, I'm not running hydrovision or catalist, just the standard drivers)
  19. @kimo4u2000 You have to look through this post. There isn't a single reg file that has everything you want. They're all customized for the maker.
  20. Ok... I am trying to maximize the airflow into my case. It's against the right side of my desk, (for now), so the air doesnt have the best ventillation. I have: Abit NF7-S Mobo: MOBO CPU: AMD XP 2000+ RAM: 1.2 Ghz Corsair ENERMAX CASE: MOBOCASE Side Panel Fan, pulling in Side Fan 2 Rear Fans Blowing Out: FANS CoolerMaster Aero 7+ Heatsink/Fan which is at 2500-2700 HEATSINK ThermalTake PurePower 420W W0008R+ Active PFC PS Seagate 120GB Drive HD Basically, I want to create a better airflow if possible. I have a slot available on the top, and there is a front fan, although there are no vents on the front of the case... Any ideas...?
  21. I know I saw windows 98 in russian, with a pad that goes over the keyboard. I am tryin to set up my computer for my grandfather(a russian immigrant). I cant find Windows XP in russian, or how to set it up to be in russian. Other than setting the regional settings, are there any ideas?
  22. @ALL who want to change this forum... We should not have people posting their full Reg tweak files. It takes up alot of space. Back on topic... 1) I've searched far and wide. How do I set my default folder view to Icon? 2) What is the correct method for removing shared documents from My Computer? I've seen 2
  23. My values have it set to off. What i suggest you do then is to turn it on, then go into the registry, and see how it is displayed. I'm on my way out the door, so I can't check myself.
  24. Go back and re-read the guide. REGISTRY Also, the registry list.... Registry Guide And I'll give you my reg tweak file, which has many of your desired tweaks, and much more. Just save it as regTweaks.reg, and in cmdlines.txt, insert the line: "REGEDIT /S regtweaks.reg" regTweaks.txt
  25. If you check out the Office 2003 installation, it tells you how. I've done it...ill post my code.. CLS @echo off TITLE Windows XP SP2 CD 1- Unattended Installation ECHO.
