  1. I aminly use my laptop for downloading large files from hotspots and all there is where i live is dialup... I ahve a router at home that I do use for sharing files wirelessly between computers. DHCP is off. The modem port is not used on the router. Desktop is plugged in port 2 (has 4 ports on router). Wifi works fine here, I can even share my dialup over the lan ports on the router and the wireless. Yes, I do manually set the IP Addresses. Now when I goto a Hotspot, I set my laptop to automatically get the IP from the router. And it does, it get a correct IP address, if i get a 169.*.*.* ip i goto command and renew IPs, then it get the 192.168.*.* ip there roputer uses.... But I can't pull any pages.... Any Ideas?
  2. Classic... I don't see the point in making it look "Pertty". Its a computer not a bedroom... But then I'v been using computer since Windows 95. (And I would not be suprised if some people here have never heard of Windows 95.) I do prefer Windows 95 over what we have now, cause it just worked. No crashing, no desktop missing for a few seconds.... But like everything else, no one is happy till they tweak it till it breaks.
  3. Thanks. I have not been around cause I was playing with Puppy Linux. Its nice, but wifi is not solid yet. So I'm back!
  4. Well, I'v since decided to format and use 2000 pro on my laptop to fix this problem. I know it hasn't been very long since I first posted this topic, but I think its something on there network preventing me from pulling pages since it works fine @ my house.
  5. As I'm sure you all know, There is a project that ads support for windows XP only programs to Windows 98. Is there anything like this for 2000? Or does most of the XP only programs run in 2000 already?
  6. Has anyone ever tried to rip the wireless control program from XP and use it in 2000? It would be nice if you use more than 1 wireless card... so you don't need to install the control program for each card.
  7. At home I can surf using my wifi card just fine. But when I goto a hot spot, I am unable to pull a page. I can ping any domain I want.... But IE and Seamonkey will not pull a page.... status bar says page found but nothing else happens. Any Ideas?
  8. Has anyone found any wireless N cards that have windows 98 drivers shipped with them? I'v been looking and I ahve not seen any yet.... Jim
  9. Can you use them all together? example, use 98SE SP3, Revolutions Pack 7.11, KernalEx, and any other together?
  10. Thanks. btw, i downloaded the service pack 3 alpha 2 and it works fine on my laptop. I already had the service pack 2.1 installed on it.
  11. and what is MDGx's site's address???
  12. well, not sure if this is the best spot to ask this but... What uses less memory... FireFox or SeaMonkey?
  13. Here is a driver I found that support many different USB Thumb Drives. I ahve used this one driver on my windows 95B with usb support machine and on my 98SE machine. Its nice to be able to use this driver instead of the three different drivers that came with my thumb drives. Click here for site I have used this with my Lexar 128MB thumb drive, My 1GB Memorex U3 Travel Drive, and My 2GB Sony MicroVault drive and they all worked on windows 95B. Just though I'd pass this along incase anyone was looking for a universal driver....
