I'm running XP Pro 32-bit on my HP dv6810us laptop no problem. It has a AMD Turion 64 x2 processor.

Is it possible to have two installations of windows xp pro on one hard drive and to dual boot it? I know I can use separate user accounts.... but i'd prefer to do this. What would I uses to partitions the drive? I already have one install of xp pro on it. I do have two xp keys that are mine.

I got the menu bar to stay in IE..... but I can't find a way to get it to stay in My Computer.... Any ideas? Thanks

I went there but it didn't help. I know its bluetooth and I am not going to use it, but ti would be nice to have it working just incase I change my mind in the feature.

I have the 1394 working now. I flashed my bios back to and older ROM and its working. I went from a F.2F to F.28. Still need the other two things which I think are bluetooth.

I have three things in my device manager not working. I downgraded this thing from vista to XP Pro cause it was freezing up and running kinda slowish with my 1.5gb ram..... anyway, here is whats up... http://www.halfdone.com/pastebin/?id=1282-63B I did find a lot of the drivers from another model number... but nor that other model number or windows updates will find xp drivers. Any ideas? I have to have this thing fully done by monday. Jim

Well, this 98 box is just a machine to BS around on.... my real computer runs a modified version of Slackware Linux... Once XP came out I got away from windows except for repairing other people's computers. I can't stand how id*** proof XP and Vista is... drives me nuts. And done get me started on how bloated they are. On a side note, I'm going to be installing Avast 4.8 on this 98 box I have and see how it runs... maybe some of the user made updates fixed a few problems with it...

So no one has any other ideas except for Avast????

I'm using SeaMonkey Web Browser with Flash Player 9.0r115 with no problems... I have SP 2.1 and KernelEX 033d Installed. Is my flash player one of the ones listed above people are having trouble with?

well, I'll just load 98 on it anyway.... and need be, I'll get another dvd drive and use Dual Layer disks so I can use nero and anydvd to clone the disks then..... not that I wanna sound rushy here....

I'm currently running XP Pro on my P4 machine (P4S5MG/GL+) SiS Chipset and it runs alright on XP. I use it to burn DVDs. I use AnyDVD to remove the copyright protection then DVD Shrink to burn it to a regular DVD disk. Now would I still be able to do this in Windows 98...? I was wondering cause of the file size limit... (Since I only have one dvd drive and its my burner, dvd shrink makes an image and then burns from the image when i replace the original disk with a blank disk in my drive.) I hope it will work cause I like 98 over XP

Well, I run a memory manager called RamPage 1.6 and it makes my windows 98 runs nice and smooth. do you think this may make a difference on how Avast works?

I did on an XP box and it ran slow... But on your first post you said it has memory issues... So I don't think I'd want to load it on my machine and have it crash it.

About 2 years ago I loaded up an old copy of Norton 2002 to see if it was still being updated, and it did update ok. If someone has Norton 2002, could they see if ti still updates it self... I would, but with me being stuck on dial up out here in the woods, it will take me a while to see...

Well, I got an auto ip from there router just now but I could not get a ping or pull a page. So I manually put in the numbers I was assigned, and rebooted... Still can't ping, but SeaMonley pulled this page... I don't know how its working, but it is.... for now. I'll see next time I come here... In my control panel, there is no Wireless icon.... There is no firewall installed... This is a fresh install of 98se with VB6 Runtime install, SP 2.1 installed, and kernelX (I think thats what its called) installed...

lmao... and thats the truth!

a home i do set an ip for my wifi card. and it works. But at the hotspot (Library) Its all DHCP. So i set it to auto get the IP. it does get the ip but doesn't pull a page. I know there using the 192.168.2.100-256 block as my xp laptop works fine. When my laptop sets it self to the 169... block I renew it and it grabs the correct ip then but still doesn't pull any pages. Im using a Linksys Wireless G WPC54G pcmcia card. I'm using its program in Win98 as Win98 doesn't have wireless built in. When I use the card in XP I use Window's program.
