  1. I actually hit a dead end yesterday when I tried it, so thanks 4 the help, Now if I disable the "EMS Enabled" what will show instead(Windows Vista Ultimate setup would be great) but anyways I'll see for myself at home, but just in case it just disables the EMS thing(what is anyways) and just leaves "Windows Setup" how can then rename it accordingly. You've been very helpful, thanks again

    XPero's utilities

Hi Xpero, I tried all the links in here but they seem to be dead, I went to your new download location but folder type fix is not there which is what I really wanted, Could you please provide a link, if it's not too much to ask edit Already posted bycbosdell, sory 4 that, didn't notice...
  3. Hi, I managed to get it to display that screen and the Installation is no longer sluguish, all I did was to remove the "-u1" from ur example of CDimage(I'm using CDFS now, I hope this is not a problem for vista though) as for question 3, I'll try that when I get home too, I hope u remember it soon though bcoz I think browsing the BCD we'll be like a fishing expedition for me, no certainty of success.... Peace....
  4. Hi innocent devil, I've tried your guide, every entry is successfully added, I copied the folders, made the image with CDimage and burned it, the DVD boots, I get the two options(1-Windows Setup and 2-XP SP2 Pro Setup) the thing is when I choose to install windows xp, The normal blueish screen of the textsetup mode insn't displayed, all I get is a blank black screen up until the time it says "searching for previous operating systems(or something like that)" why doesn't it show the whole txtsetup fase... because it kinda makes you think that the DVD isn't working(I actually resetted the machine twice before I decided to wait it out and see)... other thing is, windows XP setup is taking way longer than usual after making the DVD image(from the usual 6-7 minutes to 30-35 minutes now) My questions: 1-Isn't there a way to make the normal blue setup screen appear instead of the black blank screen being displayed for a while? 2-Is there something that I should modify in the CDimage options(switches) before I make it, in order to stop the sluguishness? maybe the UDF format or ISO format? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 3-how can I change the "Windows setup(EMS enabled)" entry to something like "Windows Vista Ultimate Setup"? anyhow, thanx for a quick, effortless guide to multiboot....
  5. I've done that but i'll do it again anyways...
  6. alrite, i'll try it out and see...
  7. okay, I was hoping there would another way besides that, but I guess that'll have to do.
  8. Now that that is out of the way, would you happen to know how to set one of the newly added as the default theme instead of windows aero when vista starts for the first time? if it's not to much to ask
  9. I already have: 1.VistaUltimate 2.XP SP2 Pro I'd like to have something like this: 1.VistaUltimate 2.XP SP2 Pro 3.Linux Ubuntu 7.10 Thanx in advance
  10. Hi Neo, thanx 4 the help, that did the trick, I patched them and then slipstreamed to Install.wim and voila! it worked...
  11. I manually integrated to the install.wim 3 vista themes that I downloaded from siginet's website(the custom_Nov pack), but after installing windows to test them they display as if they were windows classic themes, only the default windows aero theme displayed correctly... I don't get it, the file I downloaded already has uxtheme.dll and theme.ui files inside it, which I assumed they were signed, did I miss anything? was I supposed to manually sign them or something... please help P.S: if anyone tried it and it worked please share your experience...
  12. I've decided to slipstream it in the XP CD, I don't have any trouble doing it that way...
  13. I know it is possible in XP because I've done it using nlite and it can also be manually done... but what about in vista? is it possible?
  14. Thanks man, In fact I did add more commands to the setupcomplete.cmd, since I mounted the install.wim to the "temp" directory you specified, I ended up using the setupcomplete that was already there(windows\setup...) and modified it accordingly to install apps and add that line that you provided... it all went well... anyway, thanx for a great guide, I was strugling for two weeks to find a way to rename the "God Mode" administrator account, I thought I could do it without mounting the install.wim but I soon found out through unsuccesfull trial and error that it was seemingly impossible... but I guess it was a blessing that I had to download WAIK and do it through the install.wim because that enabled me to do my own customizations(drop new sidebar gadgets, change the default background, etc)... CHEERS
  15. Hi razormon, I've folowed your guide up to the part where I mount the Install.wim... I can't seem to find that "x\temp" folder you referenced, I'm assuming the "x" is the the drive path or systemdrive... I've searched all my drives and there's no "temp", must I create it myself or what? I just need to drop those files I've created, the only thing that shows on the install.wim is "components" and "Packages" please advise nevermind, I've figured it out... but there's still one prob though, I don't have the "setupcomplete.cmd" file, is it really necessary, how do I create it?
  16. Yeah it worked thanx a lot for the link...
  17. I just wanted to let you know thqt that worked... thanx a bunch CHEERS
  18. Thanx Alucke, I'll check the link out and see... I see they are listed as updates, have u tried them in a unattended vista installation without a prompt?
  19. No Chris, I use Xp, Vista and other OS in multiboot...
  20. I've googled the latest driver which all websites claim are WHQL compliant but when I Install them in vista I still get the dialog saying that windows was unable to verify the publisher... and I end up having to confirm(Install this driver software anyway)... What I don't get is why is it that they are saying it a WHQL signed driver when in actual fact it isn't.... argh
  21. Thanx for the reply... I'll try it out. there's one thing though... Shouldn't it all be in one file? just to make sure i asked okay: When I go to start menu<Shutdown there's a dialog box with those three options, the ordinary windows XP one that appears, I want a different one and I know I have that resource but I don't know its name. anyway let me see if I can manage with ur info...
  22. Could u please give me some info as to how u fixed it, I'm hoping that by fixing it u were able to make a custom user account and password without a problem. Bcoz I've recently given up tryin to set a custom user account and settled with the default.
  23. Can anyone help me Solve the problem above mentioned, I really like Xpize and I don't want to uninstall it.
  24. I second the user account thing, I'm still struggling with the autounattend.xml file
  25. What is the name of the actual resource, that's all I need, the name of the .exe or .dll... or I could use another alternative that you can give...
