Cant find my partition magic 7 so i decided to try with windows management.. no luck though. Are you sure theres an unhide feature in there cause i couldnt find it. If there is, how do i do this?

Hello all. I have an IBM Thinkpad and i'd like to unhide the partition that holds the recovery image, i'd like to use the extra space. Also i was wondering if there is any way to retrieve any of the drivers and software from that partition. Its no big deal, i can download them all, i was just curious to know if i could. Today i used the recovery image and found it to be out of date. Im thinking of making an unattended cd for this laptop and have it up to date with drivers and hotfixes, every time i reinstall.

LOL Thanks not nice. Anyway, go here http://www.theeldergeek.com/slipstreamed_xpsp1_cd.htm If youve already sucessfully slipstreamed your xp, skip down to the part on how to burn and make it bootable.

Oops, i had forgotten about this. I found a way to stop web pages (the ones i visit anyways) from resizing your browser. Internet Options->Secutiry Tab->Custom Level Button Scroll down a bit and under "Active Scripting" set to disable. This will stop web pages that use java scripting to resize IE, from resizing IE.

This sounds good

You mean it doesnt give you the option to boot from cd after your computers bios boots up?? If so, did you use the proper boot image when you burned the disc?

A simple download manager would be a nice feature to have... soemthing that can resume a failed download, thats all i ask.

Used slimming batches, windows wont boot
Exodia replied to Exodia's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Nope, the "k-lite codec pack full" i have the mega version as well though. I tried /VERYSILENT /SP- for the full version but i got an error. Im gonna go over to Application Switches and have another look around. The problem i had earlier is solved so we can let this thread die. -

I just tried the old way of slipstreaming the rollup and it booted up just fine. It booted with blazing fast speed and is only using 55meg of memory! Sweet! Thanks guys. Now, just gotta find out how to silent install "klite codec pack full". The switch i found earlier doesnt work. Im off to search for the right one, but if someone knows it, let me know. -

Perhaps a driver issue? -

used jedeboecks batches first I just tried starting the pc again, i was able to start in safe mode and all was well. It just wont boot normally, freezes within the first few seconds. Is there a boot log that i can view to see whats goin on?? -
I decided to use some of jdeboecks slimming batches to get a "lite" installation for my emulator PC. I removed all except Agent, IE some needed drivers and WMI. I ran a test in VMWare, it installed fine but it wont boot, it freezes at the boot screen every time. Has anyone else experienced this problem, is there an easy solution? Any help would be appreciated. Oh yeah, i used goshs method of reduction and added hotfixes to the UA install as well.

-
ok, when i type dir /s it lists the directory, but when i type dir /s xpcd>>files.txt i get an error "file not found"
-
it says "acess is denied" wtf???
-
Im puzzled. I put this in C:\xpcd dir /s xpcd>>files.txt It just takes me to my xpcd directory, no file is created. Sorry, not good with commands
-
Youre asking for a copy of the files from an original that was slipped with sp2, right? I have one, XP Pro. How do i go about getting a list for you? Ive never dont that before.

If you plan on installing the K-lite codec pack as well, downloading the latest version might save you some troubles, it has MPC as part of its default install.

Problem creating unattended CD
Exodia replied to ectavares's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
ectavares You seem to be having lots of problems creating an unattended install. Youre obviously very new to this so i sugest you start over from scratch and take it slow. First things first, slipstream SP1 into your cd, this way it will be integrated for you. Check your other post, i posted a link for you. Then, try creating a simple winnt.sif file and test out the install. Dont add anything until you get that working right. Then just work your way up from there. It took me a 2 days to get my first unattended cd with oem apps and updates working fine. Just take it slow and follow the directions carefully. -
What to do when the cd is runnig out of space?
Exodia replied to ectavares's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
You really should integrate SP1 into your cd, not just add it in as an app to run, it will save you 120mb of space. I posted a link in your other post on how to slipstream (integrate) SP1 into your cd.
