  1. Your nForcfe4 drivers don't seem to be set up correctly for Windows 98
  2. My mistake. I copied those specs from another forum's signature. I have removed all but 1GB of RAM I know an install with 1GB of RAM will work fine, as I've done it, and it's running fine
  3. This is on a fresh install. It takes maybe 10 minutes to load past "Getting ready to run Windows for the first time" screen Would there be some options in the BIOS I may want to turn off, that would be confusing Windows 98? I've already turned off my SATA controllers, because I don't even use them. Everything else is pretty much default Thanks in advance for your help Oh, and here are my system specs: Motherboard: DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert (BIOS Date: 2006/04/06) CPU: AMD Opteron 175 Fan: AC Freezer 64 Pro Memory: 1GB G.SKILL PC3200 (F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX) Drives: Seagate 750GB IDE (10GB Fat32 Partition for 98), Pioneer DVR-106 Video Card: EVGA 256MB 8500 GT Power Supply: Antec EarthWatts 500w Power Supply Case: Antec Sonata II
  4. Might I ask where you downloaded KB888111?
  5. I know it doesn't support it officially, but I've seen multiple methods of getting it installed. I was hoping there was a way to slipstream it I really want to stream to my 360/PS3, but it's only supported by WMP11 or Server 2008 So, does anyone know anything? Thanks in advance Edit: So, I'm an id*** Just in case anyone else wants to do what I'm trying to do: http://web.clicknet.ro/boooggy/
  6. When removing "File System Encryption", you spelled "influence" as "incluence" in description area I don't know if you care, I just know I'm anal about small details
  7. if you integrate sp3 in vista environment, you will get key error. Work under XP only Ah, thanks for the heads up. My notebook only has Vista on it, and I was so confused heh nuhi: Is this always going to be the case? Or will it hopefully change by the time the final SP3 comes out?
  8. Anyone try this and still getting an invalid key error? I'm downloading 5503 now, and I'm currently rebuilding a new SP3 image with the "Windows Activation and Sysrep" option checked off to see if that was the issue
  9. Nope. No XMSDSK here I set it to 32MB, which is the lowest I could set it to I set them both at the same time No. Everything I'm using is default. I just did a plain install, then SP 2.1a, and the ME system files update
  10. It's similar to Mplayer, as in that all of the codecs it uses are internal, but it's not as big of a hassle You can try the portable version without installing it: http://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/vlc_portable
  11. Have you tried VLC? As for PowerDVD, you can always try e-mailing/calling the company. If not that, than I'm sure you can Google up some places where you can find a serial code. I'm sure I even know of a few places, but that's getting into a subject this board most likely doesn't condone
  12. I've got 2 1GB sticks of RAM in my system. I know (or assume rather) I can't use 2GB with 98, but I need them installed because it's a multi-boot system. I installed 98 with just one of my sticks in, and then went about trying to work how to get the second one in. I began my search, and I was directed to this site for help. I finally got my system to boot with MaxPhysPage=38000 and MaxFileCache=30000, but now I have a different problem. Once in Windows, I can't get a command prompt to load without it telling me I have low memory. This also happens when trying load applications, or games Any help would be appreciated. For now, I'm just going to start messing with the values, hoping to come across some magic, but I'm just shooting in the dark Thanks in advance
  13. I just installed a brand new XFX 7600GT, and when running the NV8269.EXE setup I get Nvidia's drivers installed fine on my XP partition. Anyone have any idea what's up?
  14. So I just built a new Windows 98 box that I plan on using for playing all those old DOS/Windows 95/98 games that aren't compatible with XP/Vista I know the 6800 was the last nVidia card to support Windows 98, but I also know there are hacked drivers for Series 7/8 support. I'm just wondering exactly how good they work with 3D games. If it works just as the 6800 would, I would prefer picking up a Series 7 card so I can boot into XP and play some more advanced games So if any of you are running a 7600GT or 7950GT, could you test out some 3D accelerated games, and let me know exactly how good they run? Thanks in advance
  15. Anyone run these drivers with either a 7600GT or a 7950GT? I'm looking to buy one of those cards, but want to make sure it will be error free. If not, I'll be stuck with a 6800
  16. Sweet, thanks. I'm actually picking up a P4 2.6GHz My motherboard tops out at 2.8, but I can't find one for cheap. The 2.6 I found for around a hundred, and the 2.8s I found are around two hundred. Bah!
  17. So I'm building a new Windows 98 box just to play around with, and I'm looking for some resources about its limits, and I found this forum. Anyway, I need to pick up an LGA 775/Socket T chip, and I was just wondering if Windows 98 SE supported all processor speeds Also, does it have support for HyperThreading or Celeron D? Thanks in advance you guys
