  1. WOW!!!! I've always been a huge LOZ fan, and this looks AWESOME!!! Any word on a release date? --Chad
  2. Already tried the original CD trick. No-go. The burned CD works fine in VMWare, but not on the system in question. I just ran MEMTest86...and the RAM failed on LOTS of addresses, so I'll get a new stick 'o RAM tomorrow.
  3. So I go to install Windows 2000 Pro on my computer. The text mode setup reports that several files could not be copied to the hard drive, etc. But, on a reboot, different files couldn't be copied. I have tried numerous copies of Windows 2000 Pro, all have the same problem. I tried using a different CD-ROM, and even a DVD-ROM, still the same problem. I created an ISO of the Win2kPro CD, and loaded it in VMWare, and it runs fine all the way into the GUI-setup for Windows. I have just changed the motherboard out, and am still having the same problem. What the HELL is going on? I'm honestly at a loss for what to do next. The only thing I haven't changed is the Memory (256MB PC133 Micron). By the way, the system specs are: SOYO K7VEM-PRO Motherboard AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1GHz 256 MB Micron (Dell) Memory (PC-133) Western Digital WD120BB (120GB) hard drive Two Maxtor 200GB drives in Mirrored RAID (using SiI 0680 Card) Iomega REV 32GB SCSI drive (currently unplugged for troubleshooting) LSI U80LVD SCSI Card (for the REV drive, currently removed for troubleshooting) I'm not trying to install on the RAID, but on the primary HDD (120GB). Anyone have ANY ideas? I'm at a loss here...only thing I haven't changed is the case. ANY ideas would be greatly appreciated The only common denominator is that all the parts I've changed out are all used. I will consider new ones after I've exhausted all other options. I just tried installing WinXP Pro. Both CD's cause the computer to restart (not blue-screen, just like pressing the reset button) after all the drivers are loaded, and at the bottom of the screen it says "Loading Windows 2000" or something to that effect. I'm beginning to think it's the RAM.
  4. Try removing the space in Mobile Gear. Try "Computername=Mobile-gear" I have problems with spaces from time to time. [Edit] Nevermind...Just saw that Mobile Gear is the orgname. I'll go back to sleep now
  5. Directory on the share must exist first for the %USERNAME% value. For instance, for joe.public: \\server\profiles\joe.public has to exist before the user logs in for the first time (or any time, for that matter).
  6. Use the XCOPY command. Works for me!
  7. When I try and overwrite an existing file in a CD image (.ISO) with WinISO, it tells me the file already exists and will be ignored. Is there a way to turn on overwriting? Because otherwise, I have to delete the files manually from the CD image.
  8. Don't worry; after what just happened, I will be using UltraISO. I just *hate* the GUI for it ISO Commander has just ruined two of my cd images just by opening them!!! WTF? It made several files on the image unreadable after they are burned.
  9. I've tried all the normal switches, and nothing works. Anyone tried this before?
  10. I'm using the RunOnceEX process to make an unattended CD, and everything works fantastically, except for Office 2000. I'm doing an unattended install of o2k pro, using a setup transform (.MST) with the /qb- switches. Once the setup begins, the computer goes to the next installation without waiting for Office 2000 to finish. Here's the code: %CDROM%\REG ADD %KEY%\016 /VE /D "Office 2000 Professional" /f %CDROM%\REG ADD %KEY%\016 /V 1 /D "%CDROM%\off2000\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=setup.MST /qb- /noreboot" /f This is a problem because IE6.01 installs next, and requires a reboot (tried using /R:N, and I get explorer.exe errors until a reboot, so a reboot here is preferrable). The system reboots before office2k is finished installing. Anyone have any ideas to make the RunOnceEX process wait until office 2000 is finished installing? In case you're wondering, I have the reg.exe program on the CD-ROM because REG.EXE does not exist in Windows 2000. Thanks in advance!
  11. Doesn't work for me...I still have to join a domain to keep the "Welcome" screen away.
  12. USUALLY the welcome screen pops up when you have not joined a domain, only a workgroup. Correct me if I'm wrong, guys.
  13. Look for Sysprep. XP Does not like being cloned before being sysprepped. It'll work fine as long as it will be restored on the same computer, with the same hardware configuration.
  14. I *think* that means to use only digitally signed drivers for hardware installation when using slipstreamed drivers.... Anybody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. --Kas
