Hey guys, I have a problem setting up a reg-key in Windows 2008 R2. I'm talking about the following key: [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}] "LocalizedString" In Windows 2003 and 2008 (NOT R2!) it's no problem changing the key-value to "%ComputerName%", but in Windows 2008 R2 the local Administrator has no permission to edit the key, rename it, delete it or change the permission! I can manually take the ownership of the key via "regedit" and then edit the value, but I have to do it via batch / CMD! In Windows 2003 there is the command "REGINI" to change permissions via commandline, but how to do this in Windows 2008 R2? Hope anyone get rid of this problem and can give me a solution for that. Hi Jadestar, you can easily use the command "bootcfg" to add the switches you want to your "boot.ini" file. An example: bootcfg /raw "/PAE /3GB /USERVA=3072" /a /ID 1 The command "/raw" says, that the following switches "/PAE /3GB /USERVA=3072" should be added, the "/a" after that says, that the switches should be added to the existing switches in your "boot.ini" and not to overwrite them. "/ID 1" is the "ID" of your "boot.ini" entry which starts at "1". Hope I could help you.

Hey chrisoborski, just used quotes now and it worked? In the past, I also used no quotes in my "SVCPACK.INF", but there was a reference at Microsoft or somewhere with the quotes. -
As "arwidmark" said, you can use "appdeploy.com" to find your silent switches. But very often, you can find the switches on the website of the app in the FAQ or the documentation.

Note: I'm installing IE8 etc. in the "SVCPACK.INF" not in "CMDLINES.TXT" Just post here when you've tested it. -
To install avast! 5 silently, just use this switch: /Silent You can also save and restore your configuration of avast!. The .ini-files are stored here: %AllUsersProfile%\Application Data\Alwil Software\Avast5\

Hey ho, just create a file named "CD.txt", put it in the root of your CD and add the following code to your install-script: FOR %%i IN (D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z) DO IF EXIST %%i:\CD.txt SET CDROM=%%i: This will determine your CD-Drive in the variable "%CDROM%". So you can run your .exe-files like this: %CDROM%\application.exe /silent

Determine a filename via batch-file

It's XP/2K3. Thank you Yzöwl, but it cuts the file extension if I ECHO the variable! Is it possible to show the full filename WITH the extension? Thanks -
Hi guys out there I'm searching for a solution to determine a complete filename by using the following command: dir %tmp% | find ".inf"The filename should be saved to a variable. Why I would do this: In the %tmp% folder is just one .inf file, but the name of the file changes sometimes so I'd like to have a flexible script to determine the .inf file name in this folder. Hope anyone can help (I'm sure) Thank you

Hi AllenF, I don't know exactly what you're searching for... You'd like to install a .exe-file from a drive and you want to determine the drive-letter with a batch?! When I'm right, you have to create a file called "CD.txt", put that into the root of the drive and use this script: FOR %%i IN (D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z) DO IF EXIST %%i:\CD.txt SET CDROM=%%i: %CDROM%\%YOUR_SOFTWARE_.EXE% /%SILENT_SWITCH_FOR_THE_.EXE% This detects the drive-letter and runs your .exe-file.

It should look like this: REG ADD %KEY%\50 /VE /D “Importing HKLM Registry Tweaks” /f REG ADD %KEY%\50 /V 1 /D “REGEDIT /S hklm.reg” /f So you forgot the \ after %KEY%!

Hi guys out there, can anyone tell me if it's possible to make a text blinking in a batch-file? I read a few sites about that but I thinks it's very complex to do that?! Is there a 3rd-party tool to do this? I always usie "EchoX" to make colored text, but it has no functionality to make blinking text Is it also possible to clear just one line in a ECHO-command in batch? With CLS I always clear the whole screen... Thank you
