Yes, you can create a cmd file and place it into the HFSVCPACK folder. HFSLIP will parse the CMD file at T-13. You can also place REG and INF files in the same folder and HFSLIP will parse them at T-13 too. Hope this helps.

If you mean slipstreaming hotfixes for Office - HFSLIP won't do it. If you mean slipstreaming Office in your source - I think you'll be asking for trouble if you use hfexpert. My advice would be to make an MST file for your office to make it a silent installer.

It is safer to put the whole path to the regedit executable. Like this... %SYSTEMROOT%\REGEDIT.EXE /S Path_to_reg_file\mpc.reg

From the way you explained it, you didn't use HFSLIP when you got this error. You should really ask this question in the XP forum.

WH - Here's what I did. I typically don't use FDV's fileset, I use the IE6 core. So I created a new hfslip working folder, copied the 2k/IE6 directory less the IE6 cabs and IE/OE updates. I copied over the same exact HFCLEANUP directory too. Once all the files/folders were in order, I ran HFSLIP version 1.2.1. I can confirm that hfslip version 1.2.1 is functional with FDV files, hfcleanup, hotfixes, dx9 & some svcpack reg & cmd files. The end result iso image size is roughly the same as my 2k/IE6. The image installed without complaints on my VM. I can't repeat any of your errors.

WH - I'm not sure how many different HFSLIP folders you are using, but this particular HFSLIP.LOG doesn't detect the HFCLEANUP folder. Please double check your spelling and/or spaces in the foldername.

TC - All of FDV's setup files are to be filtered out using hfcleanup.

Can you post your hfslip.log?

Dumb question (sorry I have to ask), are you sure that your SP2 is really sp2? Dumb Q #2, are you installing any java updates? Maybe try installing a barebones non-HFSLIPped SP2 and see if you get that update. Also, can you open a dos box (start/run/cmd) and type in JVIEW. If you see an error, then you don't have java. If you see some other text, please post the version of of java listed in the window. If it means anything, I think you can modify sysoc.inf to get rid of msjava.

whitehorses - I'm not sure where you are getting the reducers from, but you may want to use the ones listed on the hfslip.org site. There is a readme file in the hfcleanup.zip file, it will have all the info you need. If it means anything, I only use the "general" and "2000 addon" hfcleanups without the 4Z reducerss. All works fine.

whitehorses - I used all types of 2k's, from FDV's, full up, NLITE'd and HFCLEANUP'd. I use the HFCLEANUP version because it removes more than NLITE and I get repeatable results. I need the IE core so FDV's fileset doesn't work for me. I do not use all of the HFCLEANUP reducers because I found that I can't run anything worthwhile when removing the 4Z reducers. Try HFCLEANUP without using the ZZZZ files. As far as the size goes, you are asking to compare apples to oranges. The final size depends on how much you are trying to slipstream via HFEXPERT. HFEXPERT adds stuff the installation disk. For example, I use HFCLEANUP, IE6, DX9C, HFEXPERT, HFExpert'd drivers, HFEXPERT'd ramdrive, HFEXPERT/Codecs, HFExpert/Appreplacement, HFExpert'd alternate wallpapers, etc. My source is 212 meg, my sourcess is 121 meg. IIRC, without drivers it was more like 100 meg. Remember, the HFCLEANUP was compiled for English. So if you are using a non-English version of 2k, you may have bad results. BTW, can you provide us with your hfslip.log file?

HFCLEANUP cleans out various INF files and was developed with an English version. Don't use HFCLEANUP and you'll be OK.

You should consider changing your C:\My Work Files\HFSLIP\ path to C:\My_Work_Files\HFSLIP\. (Remove the spaces).

Let's see... resell product and hfslip. These don't go hand in hand. HFSLIP is for personal use, and you accepted this whenever you run HFSLIP. Thank you for your support.

The driver repack phase can take some time, even more time if your computer is slow and/or bogged down with other applications running. Do you have enough free space on your drive? Is your sp4.cab and driver.cab files ok? Try re-copying the source and try again. Also, don't click the HFSLIP window when it's running (clicking the window will pause it).

What does the error say?

The hfslip/hfcleanup does not handle unicode.

Ok, I tried something else and all is ok, but you need to do something different. It's not as automated anymore. Download the "new" mssecure_xxxx.cab from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842432 Extract the xml file out of the cab file into the hfnetchk folder. run commandline hfnetchk -x name_of_xml_file.xml -vv I'm not sure what to tell people that don't use english versions.

Gents, The wonderful HFNETCHK program is unsupported by Shavlik. They have a new and "improved" version, but it relies on some obscure windows components that HFCLEANUP removes. Does anyone have a suitable replacement that is commandline driven and doesn't require a browser?
