  1. The SFX file is in my softwares partition. Location might not be a prob as it installs all other apps from the same folder cept for the SFX ones.
  2. If there are spaces in filenames, it gives errors saying file not found. Eg... command.1 = "W:\Windows\Drivers\XP\NVIDIA\163.75 XP x86\setup.exe" -s What is wrong? Also, will the above setup be executed silently? Using RunOnceEx, it does. With WIHU, it doesn't.
  3. When i try to use any SFX file which i made myself from RunOnceEx, it gives an error saying that the file wasn't found. What's wrong?
  4. yes, you are right. I used 3 methods to make it faster, and slimmer too 1. nLite the installation removing all crap 2. Disable WFP 3. Used gosh's guide for reducing the size My XP installation gets over within 12-13 minutes
  5. no ppl, it doesn't work for me. dunno why. even after disabling that i get that option if i try to replace something like notepad with notepad2 or something. and one more thing, does nlite just disable it (if it works for u) or removes the files responsible for it altogether, thus preventing you from re-enabling it?
  6. thx for the tip. but if i select prompt repair, will i be able to use $OEM$ folder?
  7. i've another small request. would it be possible to provide a find box wherein we can search for a particular update, instead of doing so manually. If it's possible to do so now, i'd appreciate it if someone told me how. Thx...
  8. hey jcarle, **** good job with xpreview. i'm facing the same prob as Jagie Fox. Apart from that it works like a charm. I just have a couple of suggestions to make. 1. Would it possible to indicate the co-ordinates in the status bar as we move the pointer? 2. A list of recently opened files would be useful
  9. The DEP prevents silent install of firefox, pidgin and ie7pro. Is there any way to avoid the prompts, as the whole point of making an unattended cd is lost. In the unattended section of nLite, i choose Data Execution Prevention = Always Off. This is the line from the winnt.sif file (OSLoadOptionsVar="/noexecute=alwaysoff"). Still it prompts. Can someone pls help me? thx...
  10. k, i've identified the hotfix as IE7-WindowsXP-KB937143-x86-ENU.exe which autoresets my nlited installation. kb933360 works fine for me, dunno abt the other two, as haven't installed them. Can someone pls tell y this is happening? Thx
  11. k, thx for confirming. i should've known the reduced installation time's cos of disabling sfc, but didn't bummer, the reduced installation time was cos of all the components i removed and not because of disabling sfc. the option for disabling sfc is greyed out and yet windows has sfc enabled. i tried replacing notepad with notepad2 and it doesn't work. The original file is restored. Also i'm using wfpswitch (given above) to chk whether it's enabled or not. both ways i see that it is. what's wrong?
  12. i'm facing the same prob. but till now i've'nt been able to isolate the hotfix which is causing it. after reading the above posts i integrated the above fixes into an installer which works and yet the installer works. Which hotfix is causing the prob?
  13. I'm facing the same situation. Though my ques is a bit different. I know that it's greyed out cos i've tried to disable it once. But since it says Enabled in the greyed out part i'm not so sure. Is it disabled for sure? Can someone pls confirm? Thx
  14. When Send To > Desktop is clicked a shortcut is placed on the Desktop. However, for other locations placed in the Send To folder, the file itself is moved. How to I directly create a Shortcut and move it instead of the file itself?
