  1. Hi Fernando Thank you, it is a pleasure to work on it, its certainly not the fastest but its fast for enough for me. I can already see a very good improvement on performance in XP Pro SP3, do you think XP Pro X64 SP2 will be faster? In a month or three I will get an ASUS 512MB graphic card, I saw some at the shop where I bought the M/B. The 1GB is double the price. My previous processor lasted four years before I upgraded now. I think I will put it in my mothers pc, she has a P III 1.2GHz celeron, 1GB PC133 RAM, 8MB Trident Cyberblade onboard etc. It will be a nice improvement. I see you have a powerful system as well. What upgrades do you plan next?
  2. Have some good news! Decided to upgrade and got an ASUS m/b with G41 chipset (ICH7), its definitely faster than my old trusty P4, it was actually an unplanned upgrade, I only wanted to upgrade the m/b and still use the P4. Unfortunately this board seems to be incompatible with the P4 cpu so I had to fork out quite a lot of money for a new cpu as well - core2quad q8300 cpu. Guess it wil be my christmas present. XP installed flawlessly and also installed all required drivers, so everything worked by the time XP finished installing itself on my newish system. This m/b ia also DX10 ready - a nice little bonus I guess, but I use XP so its of no benefit to me lol. Will buy a new graphic card later, I have to use the onboard x4500 for now since my Nvidia GForce 5500FX doesn't fit in the new PCIex slot and also need a new SATA hard drive, but that will have to wait for another time, the upgrade cost a lot of money already. Well thats all news I have for now. Jen
  3. Hi Fernando, The CD is for non commercial use, I do however enable the option in Nlite for the input of a "CD key / License key / Product ID" The reason I want to create such a CD is because I repair my family's and friends pc's / laptops and its too labour intensive to everytime manually install all the different drivers when installing Windows and I do not charge any money for these repairs. Credit to Dino Nuhagic for the creation of this GREAT tool!!!
  4. Hi all, I downloaded the driver pack drivers and integrated them using driver base but that didn't work either - got a blue screen on a desktop PC and on the Samsung R519. I decided to install the driver pack drivers with Nlite (not all of them, just the most common ones like AMD, VIA, Intel and SIS. Tested the CD on a desktop PC with SIS chip, Acer with ICH9M chip and on the Samsung R519 and all seems to be in order. Jen
  5. Hi cdob, Thank you for your reply, OK now I understand better what you were trying to suggest. I do not think the official version support my R519 since the XP CD I created does not work on the R519, but should in future I think, I will wait for a future release and see if the R519's chip is supported, at least I have another XP CD without AHCI drivers that work perfectly on the R519, so its not too much of a problem luckily. Thank you again for your help. Jen
  6. Hi Fernando, thank you once again for your advice, I will try as you suggested. I will try to give feed back once I created a new XP CD and installed it on a few laptops and pc's. Jen
  7. Hi cdob, thank you but isn't it best to rather use official drivers? Also that page is in French (I think) I cannot understand what hey are trying to say on that page
  8. Hi Fernando, thank you for your help, I really appreciate it! So if I download the latest driverpack chipset will it include all the drivers from the previous packs and the latest drivers? And I use driverpacks base to integrate them into the source files of Windows XP? I assume I should download driverpack chipset for the RST and MSM chipsets? I have an older desktop pc with VIA P4M800 Pro North Bridge and VT8237 South Bridge, will this driverpack chipset include an updated driver for it? My current driver dates back to 2001 and its causing problems with lightscribe drive. I tried to find an updated driver but was unable to find one. Is it possible to integrate both RST and MSM drivers from Intel into XP source files with Nlite? If possible can thisXP CD perhaps then work on the Samsung R519? Jen
  9. Hi Fernando, thank you very much for your advice, I will follow your advice, can you please tell met what RST and MSM means? Can you tell me where to download latest RST and MSM drivers for Intel and AMD? Does Nvidia or ATI also produce AHCI chips? I think I saw something about them also making AHCI chips. I would like to create an XP CD that will work on most PC's and laptop models. Jen
  10. Hi Fernando thank you for replying, The Samsung laptop has an Intel 82801IM-ICH9M South Bridge chip, I used the Intel RST textmode driver AHCI v9.6.0.1014 WHQL 32bit with Nlite, in Nlite I selected all the text mode chipset models / drivers for integration.
  11. I had a weird experience a few days ago, I created a XP CD with nlite and intgrated the latest intel SATA AHCI drivers (text mode) The CD works perfectly on a ACER 5732Z and Compaq CQ61 in AHCI mode, but on a Samsung R519 the XP CD fails with AHCI enabled. The drivers load and when it says Starting Windows the unit restarts and cant boot from the hard drive (I removed Windows 7) I tried a few times and also changed the BIOS to legacy / IDE but still not working. With a XP cd with no AHCI drivers integrated XP setup works flawlessly. Does anyone have any ideas? Jen
  12. Gee I am glad to read some of the older O/S's are still being used and that not everyone is just using Windows 7.
  13. Hi Kelsenellenelvian, OK I think I understand now what you asked. No I do not have resource material stating any hardware requirements for either SP2 or SP3, however I have read on a few sites about people saying they experience slower Windows XP after implementing SP3, and I have the same experience. I think this might be due to slower systems, maybe on a fast modern system you will not notice any difference between the performance of SP2 and SP3. Jen
  14. Hi Kelsenellenelvian, I am not sure what you are asking me exactly, can you please explain more? Jen
  15. Hi Fernando Thank you very much for replying. I have experienced and read that XP SP2 is better for older systems since XP SP3 has higher hardware requirements. I keep SP2 for older systems and SP3 I use on newer systems. Back to the problem, I have found the answer to the problem: I use XPize 4.7 and somehow it breaks the AHCI SATA driver, so I downloaded XPize 5 release 6 and the problem was solved. XPize is really great, it makes XP look wonderful. Kind regards, Jennifer South Africa
  16. Hi all, I am having an issue with integrating intel ahci drivers into XP SP2, my dvd drive isn't detected the first time XP starts so my custom runonce commands are not executed. With SP3 there is no problem. I am using a clean source for both SP2 and SP3. I use the same ahci driver for SP2 and SP3. Can anyone please help me out? Jennifer
