Just use the Volume Licensing Edition, its what I use and it works without any issues

It absolutely does not work under XP Pro x64 meaning it appears to work but corrupts source files. Under XP Pro x86 results are equally poor. It seems files are randomly corrupted, everytime I created a new DVD its a different file that is corrupted. Once I got to 13 minutes to go (registering components) when the installation hung. Using an unXPized DVD installs without any problems. I have spend a whole weekend trying to get XPize to function correctly burning countless DVD's without success. This incident is not limited to my laptop, I also experienced this on my PC.

Is there parhaps a utility like modifype or pechecksum that supports multiple files and that has a GUI?

Hi Kel Sorry I am only replying now, I just saw your reply. I do not know how to replace resource hacker in XPize as it is an executable and not a bunch of files where one can simply replace problematic files. The XPize site also specifies XPize 5R6 works with XP Pro x64.

Anyone have any idea why this issue occurs?

I XPized source files however it seems somehow XPize is corrupting the source files, erased DVD-RW and copied source files to disc again, started installation and same error that the file placed on the hard drive is not a valid windows image while files are copied from the DVD. I then erased the DVD and copied only NLited source files to the disc and started the installation - this time no errors. Anyone have any idea what is going on? Thank you for reading. Jennifer

Hi all I applied XPize to the source files on my HD, then burned them to DVD and installed on PC, however htm and html files have a generic / unknown icon as if Windows does not know which progeam is associated with these files, I corrected the association but it didn't have any effect. Can anyone tell me what option to NOT select in XPize 5R6 to not have this problem? Thank you for reading Jennifer

Hi all Can anyone tell me which file or files gets modified by XPize that contains icons for different files eg text files, htm files, winrar etc. Reason I am asking is I let XPize replace default icons with its own in the source files but I prefer the default icons. Hi all, I would like to report back on my project of XP x64: I have finished customizing XP after a week of working day and night, XP now feature a modern visual style, improved logon UI, custom msgina.dll, shell32.dll etc, loads of drivers and updates (IE8, MP11 and post SP2 updates) XP is now running perfectly and very fast (much faster than XP x86) on my acer Aspire 7740G laptop. Even hibernation is very fast with 5GB RAM. It is a pleasure to work on my laptop now. If anyone would like the customized visual style for x86 and x64 it is available at no cost. Jennifer

Hi Fernando I am busy preparing and customizing Windows XP x64. I need AHCI text drivers from the major manufacturers (Intel, AMD, NVidia, SiS, VIA), however it will be impossible to go to each manufacturer's website and search for the correct drivers, previously with XP x32 I used "DriverPacks" I went to the DriverPacks website to download driver packs for XP x64 but there is only a x32 version available. Do you know of a website where I can download AHCI text driver collections for the major manufacturers for XP x64? I appreciate your time and remain hopeful. Jennifer

Hi all Just want to share with you my information about acer 7740G laptop, I followed Fernando's advice and used a fresh source of XP Pro SP3 and integrated his modified AHCI drivers, the 7740G utilises the Intel 5 series 4 port SATA AHCI controller. I also downloaded all XP drivers for the other components used in this model and integrated the AHCI and other drivers with NLite. I can report XP installs fine and works without any problems on my new acer 7740G. Jennifer

I always remove MSN, Tour and Out of Box Experience - they take up a lot of space if you want to make a CD, however I also remove them when I make a DVD since I don't need them and want the installation to be fully automated and fast.

Hi everyone I am not so clued up as to where and where not to connect optical drives but I can confirm that on my two desktops the optical drives are connected to SATA ports and I have no problems installing XP Pro SP3. The BIOS on both units are set to AHCI when I install Windows and have no problems. The one mainboard manufacturer is unknown to me (has ATI storage controller SB600 and RC415 chipset) and the other is an ASUS P5QL-EM. I guess it depends on the type of storage controller if it is a bit temperamental and maybe on the BIOS. Jennifer

The chipset: NB: ATI RC415, SB: ATI/AMD SB600, Integrated graphics: ATI Radeon Express 200 I am very happy now, thank you again for your assistance I appreciate it very very very much. Hi Fernando The XP CD has been modified previously with NLite, I simply added AMD drivers as I asked Dino and he said its fine adding additional drivers to an existing NLited source. BIOS settings are on standard settings, I have never been one for overclocking as the standard settings are fast / good enough for me. The PC has 1.5GB RAM. As for the laptop yes I did integrate Intel AHCI drivers otherwise I wouldn't be able to install XP. The HD is operating in AHCI - I prefer AHCI over IDE. I make NLited disks all the time as it is a work in progress, the updates never stop and one's XP disks must always be up to date, my laptop is my testing station which is why I install XP many times. I hope I don't sound dumb but I thought its necessary to integrate chipset driver so Windows can correctly identify the chipset As for the SMU driver, I got it when I downloaded the drivers for the laptop and thought its necessary to integrate them as well. Overall my XP CD works very well, its just the desktop with weird storage controller (AMD / ATI) and laptop's intermittant optical drive issue thats a bit weird. Jennifer

I have another weird issue on my laptop, I integrated Intel chipset / SMU drivers with NLite, the chipset is ICH9EM, sometimes if I install XP, my DVD drive is immediately detected on first start of XP and my copy commands that I integrated with NLite under the unattend tab in NLite are executed successfully, other times when I install XP my DVD drive is not detected on first start and my copy commands are not executed. Only when I restart XP my DVD drive is detected. I suspect it has something to do with the chipset driver, am I correct?

Hi Fernando Thank you for you reply, yes sorry my mistake, it is an iStart. I do not have access to a Win7 DVD and do not have a big enough cap to download Win 7. I checked the BIOS but there is no option to change to IDE mode, not all BIOSes provide this option I have noticed (only the ones designed by clever people provide an IDE option ;-) ) Kind Regards Jennifer

With some controllers its just impossible to find the correct driver, I have a Packard Bell desktop PC iSmart B3420 which isn't even supported / shown on their website with an unknown mainboard, when I type the model number Google shows its a Packard Bell laptop or manufactured by ECS or an ASUS etc. There is no way to find out the type of chipset because I cant find an AHCI driver to allow me to install XP (no option to change to IDE mode). The chipset has a heatsink over it and I am not planning to damage the board to remove the heatsink. As far as I know it has some ATI chipset which is now owned by AMD I recently found out. I have tried countless AMD drivers but none of them work - all produce BSOD. I have given up trying to install XP on it and its now standing in the corner. By todays specification its a slow PC but still good enough as an office PC / server (P4 3GHz HT, 2GB DDR II, 160GB HDD SATA, DVD RW SATA etc) I am sad about this but I guess thats the way it is :-(
