  1. As if by magic... theyve alldisappeared!!! That was driving me nuts last night, all started when it wouldnt update... kept failing. Then I tried to remove it, and couldnt, tried to reinstall it, and couldnt... Just tried again, and all is now well....!!!
  2. It seems Im somehow stuck with a corrupted install of .net framework... None of the SPs will install, nor can I reinstall it, I cant even add/remove it... getting errors when trying. Is there a tool to remove it, or do I have to bodge the registry somehow and forceably remove it.... Dont want to have to revuild my OS... Any advice?? Cheers
  3. Im looking for same, and found this via our friendly search engine..... http://www.vmware.com/support/ws5/doc/ws_install_silent.html Gonna try out soon myself, will keep you posted, unless you get there before me!!!
  4. My requirements are mainly that it has its own usb2 cable integrated into the unit, that I can expand the capacity myself by swapping the hd/microdrive/card, that the unit securley encloses the storage device, and no additional power is needed. This is probably my first choice, however it is somewhat limited in capacity, and you cant expand it yourself. ARCDISK 4GB HARD DRIVE USB KEY http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?ARC-500658 My second choice is one of these, it has the capacity Im after, but it is not as portable as the arcdisk, well it wond fit on your keyring and in your trouser pocket! FREECOM FHD-XS 20GB/40GB http://www.freecom.com/ecProduct_detail.asp?ID=1922 Others I have looked at: MagicStor 1" hard disk with USB adaptor http://www.morgancomputers.co.uk/shop/deta...bCategoryID=211 IcyBox External Case 1.8“ HDD http://www.nanopoint.co.uk/products.php?mo...ordereau&id=713 This one is again, too long at almost 12cm (5").... Anyone know any others...??? I have a budget of around <£120.... Thanks
  5. Check out: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documen...fileconfig.mspx I too have a raptor, but stick my pagefile on a secondary SATA (different channel).. I have it so during install it moves pagefile, sets the size, and deletes the old one... http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=53664&hl=
  6. I have tried a few, including Roboform, Access Manager... and some others... Cannot find any that will deal with the more securie sites, like internet banking.. which may ask you to insert parts of your password, i.e, first, fourth and last digits, or second fifth and ninth.. etc... these need you ro enter the required parts of your password into either a single field, or drop down selection.. Access Manager, although it has a Pasward Selection feature, allowing you to select such parts... is manual, and roboform, despite its customisations does not do them either... Any one know a good one...?? I know egg.com used to have an online money manager which would allow you to view and login to all of your bank accounts from a single login interface....
  7. Tested out a couple of times now.. works great...!! Thanks mdes for all your help.. much appreciated...!!!!
  8. You have done the same here ???? This is the line that would be entered into the ROE registry, and should delete the regkey... but it wasnt... As I was applying reg settings for my Ua installed apps, it is easier to simply remove the key with the [-hkey...] syntax, and then import the new settings, from the same regfile.. easy peasy!!! I did not know about the ^ key, only putting / before the quotes which you wanted to show... as per instructions in the link... I will test that out at some point... but Im happy with the method I have now.. its simple!!! Thanks for your help...
  9. lol.. yet again fooled by its simplicity... sticking a - infront of the regkey in reg file, removes it!!! I can delete it and import it all in the same reg file!!!
  10. Im trying to get a reg key deleted using RunOnceEx, but I keep getting prompted for confirmation, despit the /f switch... Ive followed some guides for allowing the use of extra quotes in such instructions from http://unattended.msfn.org/intermediate/me...s/runonceex.htm which I have implemented successfully for other instances. However, it seems to be ignoring the /f Driving me nuts!!! Thanks
  11. That hit the nail on the head.. cheers!! I find it quite ironic really, as when I first starting using RunOnceEx, I enquired about whether you could use this to launch anothe rinstance of the same.. with additional instructions... which I thought was the easist way of achieving what I wanted... Since actually trying what you suggested, which indeed proved that it was possible... all of my prevous attempts have pretty much been a waste of time and effort lol!! I have spent many many hous trying all sorts of other things which ultimately led me back to my original query.. which you have ansered!! CHEERS
  12. That sounds far too simple, far too logical... but hey... it may just work!! Thanks, will try it out shortly!! Cheers
  13. Hmmm Ive tried many variations based on that line.. but it cause allsorts of weird happenings, apart from the one I want... The following is my test script, which I want to reboot after "Installing Drivers & Hotfixes" is completed, and resume with the install on a clean window. However, it reboots, and does not run any further.... If I remove The install works well, and three ROE windows will popup for each respective section.. however, it obviously now does not reboot. If I leave that line in, and alter the number sequenced so they are all concurrent, it will reboot half way through the list, and then resume, however, it will then not display any further ROE windows... I have tried adding the line you suggested both before and after the shutdown command, but it then affects the way it runs... I cant seem to find the meeting in the middle of the 2 methods I have 1. One long ist, with a reboot in the middle, but continues with the list 2. No reboot, but 3 seperate ROE windows... Its quite a labourious task even using VMWare so not to kill my one and only PC... I would really appreciate any help with fine tuning this process... Thanks
  14. Thank tap52384.. will give it a go shortly and let you know... I dont use nlite, but the english version of a utility found here http://www.vitaligraf.de/ I found it very suited to me needs, although I do end up customiseing a lot of the files for my particular needs... I us Autopatcher to update my system, and run it from ROE... I just wanted to reboot after installing this, prior to installing my apps.. some of which needs the updates in AP.... Im currently re-thinking my install strategy, moving things about, trying to find the best order to install things, and at what part in the timeline. My ROE is quite large, and I like the idea of splitting it up into smaller windows... Thanks
  15. You are missing a ", there are only 3 in the above instruction...If you notice this entry: There are 4 ", and there is a " after the filename.... and the final one after the switches before the /f.. This is working fine for me, so Ive ditched the batch file Taken directly from my working script...
  16. Doesnt work for me :-( I think its because I let the system reboot after a couple of patches, then continue with the scipt.. however, this prevents the additional windows opening up somehow. If I remove the reboot command, it works fine..but I need to reboot to apply all my post sp2 hotfixes and patches, before installing my apps...
  17. Ok.. so I think Ive decided to install apps, under my user profile... then apply the reg settings to the HKCU\Software... section of registy (shich is where they were originaly taken),, If I choose to do it this way, rather than from cmdlines.txt, how would I then apply HKCU\Software... to all future new account logons...?? Would I simply import the same file into the HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software (after modifying the key names), even though the software itself has no entry in this section... would this simply just duplicate my imported reg setting to any future accounts?? Thanks
  18. Great help.. cheers After testing, this may not work very well on an unattended install, as it may force the pc to restart. May want to use the following witches: (OOPS missed the \norestart switch in previous post.. DOH!!)or directly from RunOnceEx:
  19. lol!!! Id never even noticed the import/export settings - and it was THERE right in ftont of my eyes... I dont believe it!!! Funny how you only see what you want to!! CHEERS!!!
  20. I think I understand what you are trying to do... you have made an install of WinRAR including themes, but it wont select your theme during install??? I have recently done the same, so winrar installs with my chosen theme... what you need to do is install winrar, select the theme you want so it is active, the go to the following reg entry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WinRAR\Interface\Themes Copy this key and make reg file to be imported after winrar installed, during unattended setup... Hope that does the trick.. ive not tested the final part myself, but Im sure thats the right key.. it should contain the theme name in its data values....
  21. Have done a quick search, and only found that inf (usually for drivers) install from the winnt.sif, which I knew... Is there a way I could install the doshere.inf (Command window here.. but I have customised the actual menu name) I have from the ROE script, or even cmdlines.txt?? Cheers
  22. I think you need to include this: Im pretty sure that single line should sort it out.. I think that fixed the problem for me a long time ago.... (ignore the rest, I just grabbed it from another site, for reference) It defaults then to UK, and you should not have any US settings.... Taken from: http://www.unattended.msfn.org/global/examples.htm Let me know how you get on...
  23. Thanks.. to both of you Its just my own disk, for my own pc... just a little project I got myself into to get a vetter understanding of how everything works... so I dont need to worry about using the cd on another pc... Ive also managed to go as far as automatically moving the pagefile to another HD partiton.. so I dont think the disk would work too well on another pc All my apps are also installed from another partition, rather than from the cd, for speed. Just when I think Im getting to the end.. more things crop up... This particular query only came about after thinking that the last thing you want to do after creating an unattended disk, which auto installs your software, is having to then go through the software again to reconfigure it, the way you like it... Theres no major apps, just some core utilities.. which seem to be quite localised in the registry, so it shouldnt require too much manipulation... Thanks again, for clarification
