  1. This is starting to bring me down. Trying to increase the reporting in wmi in pe and keep hitting brick walls. Tried pciscan and will not run correctly but I dont really want to use it. Anyone managed to extend the WMI interface?
  2. I get notepad.exe crashing PE sometimes...
  3. It looks as though someone has placed the 2004 into the 2005 sleeve at microsofts end. Just gotta wait for the new media to arrive. Thanks all.
  4. Wish it was that simple. I need details on pci devices and port information which wmi reports on so beatifully outside of PE. Thanks tho.
  5. It says 2005 on the box but mkimg.cmd only checks and validates xpspk2. Part number I have is x11-27005
  6. I thought PE2005 used w2003 server + spk1 for its source files? Just got the cd media through and it needs to build from XP spk2. Can someone clarify this as my head is hurting? Thanks
  7. Pants! Just run some manual wmi scripts and it there is a lorra stuff missing, even querying the pnp vendor id's only return the ide controller and the network card. 3 questions: Any way of adding the full wmi support? Is Winpe2005 any better at wmi reporting? Do I need to locate 3rd party software to query the system? I would hate to use a 3rd party vendor - trying to get away from this at the moment and I can't possibly use any kind of Barts PE due to licensing. The main items i need to query above what is reported on is floppy diskette, cd\dvd rom, video and sound cards.
  8. Hi, I am using pe2004 with wmi and vb6 to interrogate hardware devices. All is fine except detection of floppy diskkete drive or cd\dvd drive. Everything else reports fine (memory, processors etc). Anyone else seen this?

    winpe help

yes you need ghost32 (or later). I hope you understand which files to edit to copy additional files to the compiled pe prior to the iso being created. If not I'll try and dig out where to place source files and where to edit the buildme.cmd to copy these files post compile but pre iso creation. Let me know. (you do know about the startnet.cmd)
  10. Hmm, we got our cd delivered Friday last week. Prolly look at it next year..
  11. Oh, remember to delete all existing e100 files including the .pnf. I copy all files into relavent $oem$ directory and copy infs to inf folder, sys to system32 and all into the i386 root. The problem happened to me as there was a rouge sys file there. Obvioulsy, you know about the modified infs and restarting binlsvc?
  12. As far as I am aware, from PE/CD the only thing you can call to install either is the winnt32, this requires a formatted HDD to install to. More?
  13. Ok, lets start this again as the project here has come alive again. On WinPE 2004, not Barts as we are not allowed to use this. I have the netware client loaded, the login script maps drives correctly over ipx. problem is I cannot manually map a drive outside the login script.. Here is my startnet.cmd regsvr32 /s netcfgx.dll factory -minint rem factory -winpe netcfg -v -winpe net start dhcp net start nla netcfg -v -c c -i NW_NWFS netcfg -v -l %SystemRoot%\inf\netnwlnk.inf -c p -i ms_nwipx net start nicm net start NetwareWorkstation regedit /s setnwvar.reg LOGINW32 Oh why can I not map the drive using net use t: \\server\share ? I could map the drives within the login script but the mapped drive varies too much so I would prefere to do this from the command line. I don't care at all about ip as I am connecting to is netware 5 ipx boxes so that can be stripped out. Also, I may need to run /wmi and /pnp and I also run without a firewall so where does the factory -winpe affect networking et all? Thanks...
  14. I got most of what I need to do done except the ipx/spx netware support.... Thanks
  15. Right, due to the nature of my business and certain legal issue's, I can no longer rely on bart's fantastic PE builder. Can someone recommend some decent how to sites to visit to combine stuff like wsh, vbs, ipx etc into winpe 2004 apart from here. I will work it out just need some help... God, BartsPE was so easy...
  16. Did the -ovi work? it did for me. Been using it for yonks setting @ 2
  17. ****, wont delete
  18. Sorry for the not so fast reply. You can edit some of the screens and place account information into the logon and one of the meta action, summing like autoenter will skip through the screens these are the osc files. Also change the startrom.n12 to startrom.com overwriting the original. this gets rid of the second f12 press. I cannot be more specific atm as I am nowhere near my ris stuff...
