I use Opteron 154 with Win98se installed since 2007 and have no major problem. Flash Player 9 may crash Firefox or Opera on Japanese or Traditional Chinese Win9x/me, but it can be solved by editing NPSWF32.dll.

I installed Firefox Portable 3.0 and updated to 3.5 without problem

Issue Report: O/S: Windows 98SE v4.10.2222 (Traditional Chinese) KEx Ver: KernelEx Core v4.0.12 App: gdi++.dll FreeType2 edition (gdi0850, version: 8.0.2007.0927) Descript: FreeType2 font rendering does not work. Reproduce: Run gdippManager.exe, and enable font rendering from the menu. Work Pre-KEx?: No. And I ran the program in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode. Notes: gdi++.dll official homepage (original edition without FreeType2 support, discontinued) http://drwatson.nobody.jp/gdi++/index-en.html gdi++.dll @ wiki http://www18.atwiki.jp/gdiplus2/pages/1.html http://www18.atwiki.jp/gdiplus2/pages/15.html -------------- Besides, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5 is compatible with KernelEx 4.0 RC 2, and BitDefender v10 command line scanner coexists with KernelEx 4.0 RC 2 by disabling extensions.

You may use GDI++.dll(FreeType version) instead, although it is buggy.

Latest Flash9 should work on IE6SP1 without problem, but you may try the method if KERNEL32.DLL crashes with Flash9 installed. 0. Prepare Adobe Flash Player uninstaller and Flash8. 1. After installing 9.0.159.0 for IE, you can find flash9h.ocx at C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MACROMED\Flash. 2. Open flash9h.ocx with Resource Hacker, find Version Info -> 1 -> 1033 -> VALUE "FileVersion", "9,0,159,0", then change 9,0,159,0 to 9,0,159,00 and compile script. 3. Save the file and delete the backup flash9h_original.ocx. The method works on Fx and Opera by editing NPSWF32.dll instead. However I don't have problem with IE6SP1, so you need to examine it by yourself.

If you use Firefox/Opera and Flash9 conflicts with Kernel32.dll, you can solve it by editing NPSWF32.dll.

The PC I built recently: http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k167/halohalox/775.jpg GA-8I865PE775-G-RH(4.9) does not support 45nm Core 2 CPU, so I can't get Vcore value in BIOS. Fortunately, with BIOS FE I can change multiplier by CrystalCPUID. When I created the partition on 640GB HDD, the % method failed and FDISK only recognized 100GB below, then I use FreeDOS FDISK1.3.1 and SPFDisk 2000-03t instead. I also failed to Format HDD on SATA port at both PATA emulation mode and SATA mode, but I solved it by adding an SATA-PATA adapter card to PATA port, then I removed the card after formatting. Just like before, I never solved the NDIS.vxd related error on Realtek Gigabit Ethernet NIC(8110S and 8110SC), so I gave up and use the old USB 2.0 adapter instead. Both Catalyst 5.9 and 6.2 are necessary during installation for old X800pro AGP.

You can search for unofficial driver from win2000's blog: http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/ If you have HD 4xxx series, you may use the driver at your own risk. I am using old unofficial 8.4 on X850XT, and OPENGL works without problem.

Unlike the products by Gigabyte or ASUS, Wolfdale compatible beta bios is available for few motherboards by ASRock, like Conroe865pe and 775i65G. So you can get 0.5x multiplier support and multiplier will not be locked to 6.0x when using E5xxx or E7xxx processors. ASRock ConRoe865PE Bios 1.71A http://www.pctreiber.net/filebase.php?fileid=2472&lim=0 ASRock 775i65G BIOS 3.22 http://www.pctreiber.net/filebase.php?fileid=2848

Compared with PCI-e 8 series, the PCI 8 series suffer a serious performance hit. http://www.4gamer.net/games/038/G003818/20080728022/

Don't waste money on it, because I already tested and failed. Unlike 6 series and 7series, X1K series and X800/X850 series are totally different, so there is no reason for ATI to develop Win9x compatible driver.
-
X1K series are not supported. I tested X1900XT 512MB before and failed, so I use the driver of VBEMP x86 Project instead.
