Trying to add Windows 2000 and usbohci.sys
ilko_t replied to Carlos Alloatti's topic in Install Windows from USB
Correct.Look at these posts how to get going: By the way which version of WinSetupFromUSB are you using? @Jaclaz - installing windows 2000 from USB has been tested and confirmed working, except the cases when the expected strings determining version is 2000 are missing or messed up in txtsetup.sif. Using the program under 2000 has not been tested. -

Installing Windows 2000 from USB flash disk?

Did you try WinSetupFromUSB 1.0 beta7? Do you need to run the program on WIndows 2000 , or just need to put 2000 on USB stick from XP/Vista/7? -
How to install Windows from USB- WinSetupFromUSB with GUI

Glad it's solved. By the way, grub4dos is not a program for partitioning of formatting a hard drive, you must have used something else for this task. -

How did you partition the disk? grub4dos installer complains about bad partition table: Go to disk management. Backup data if you have such on the USB disk. Delete all partitions. Create new ones. Set first one active. Using safely remove hardware icon disconnect the disk. Replug it and try the program again. -

I can't make any logic why using nLite in that manner would cause such error... Once it's installed, can you try again the nLited version? Was the fourth partition active? Was there such? How large the hard disk is? Is the 4th partition beyond 137GB boundary? -

As far as I know there are two ways for installing Debian from a hd-like media: Let the program help a bit, tested with debian-6.0.2.1-i386-CD-1.iso - 1) Extract the ISO somewhere, select Syslinux option and point program to the directory with the extracted contents. Press GO. Then rename ISOLINUX directory on USB disk to SYSLINUX, rename ISOLINUX.CFG to SYSLINUX.CFG inside the renamed SYSLINUX directory too. Or: http://www.debian.org/releases/etch/i386/ch04s04.html.en 2) Get initrd and kernel for installing from hd-media: http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/dists/squeeze/main/installer-i386/current/images/hd-media/ http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/dists/squeeze/main/installer-i386/current/images/hd-media/initrd.gz http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/dists/squeeze/main/installer-i386/current/images/hd-media/vmlinuz Put them somewhere on the USB disk, say \debian\ Use the following lines in menu.lst: title Debian install ls /debian/vmlinuz || find --set-root /debian/vmlinuz kernel /debian/vmlinuz initrd /debian/initrd.gz Place the appropriate Debain ISO file, that could be netinstall ISO as well, in root of the USB disk, installer will search for it and mount it. No idea if that way multiple ISO files are supported, e.g. CD1, CD2 etc. -

Use genuine source. Integrate updates and drivers and remove components yourself. There are notes in first post about unattended section in winnt.sif in 0.x.x version, 1.0 versions do not have that limitation if you use it to get rid of EULA screen. Search the subforum or this topic for the EULA screen, it has been mentioned numerous times. -

Interesting case. For the record- what are machine specs? Motherboard model if desktop or brand and exact model if laptop. Let's try with newer grub4dos version, download this archive and replace only GRLDR file on the USB stick root. http://grub4dos-chenall.googlecode.com/files/grub4dos-0.4.5b-2011-08-09.7z -

When you rebuild it, if still no joy, try the above grub4dos commands again, but this time use (hd32) in all lines where it's present instead of (0xff). -

Something must have gone wrong with the ISO file creation or its transfer to the USB stick. Wild guess would be an antivirus software interfering. Turn it off if you have such, format and rebuild the USB stick. -

In Windows Explorer folder options make sure you see hidden and protected operating system files.Copy everything from the USB stick with HDD regenerator to the other USB stick. You should see IO.SYS among other files. On the other USB stick edit MENU.LST in Notepad and add the following lines at the bottom: title HDD Regenerator ls /io.sys || find --set-root --ignore-cd /io.sys chainloader /io.sysLet me know if everything works fine. That's weird.Try booting the USB stick, once you get to the menus press the key 'c'. That will enter grub4dos command prompt. Then type the following commands and let me know the output after each one: map /WINSETUP/XPpSP2.ISO (0xff) map (hd0) (hd1) map (hd1) (hd0) map --hook root (0xff) chainloader /I386/SETUPLDR.BIN bootCapital letters DO matter in the "chainloader /I386/SETUPLDR.BIN" row. If you get an error about non contiguous file after first command- reboot and this time use: map --mem /WINSETUP/XPpSP2.ISO (0xff) -

You can use the program and add several Vista/7/Server 2008 sources in different partitions if that's USB hard disk or USB stick with the removable bit flipped so Windows sees it as a fixed disk. If that's not the case- read the first post in this topic and follow the two links explaining how to use several sources from the same partition. -

What's the error? Did you try original unmodified source? I doubt that error has anything to do with installation from USB, the source is not modified in any way and Win 7 is USB install friendly, not like 2000/XP/2003 which has to be modified and tricked. -
winsetupfromusb - nlite install issue
ilko_t replied to johncg316's topic in Install Windows from USB
What is the exact problem? You cannot login as the original poster or the program complains about missing winnt32.exe? If the latter- try the latest 1.0 beta7, that dependence has been avoided. -

Sir, no need of tutorial, just a few posts above yours: Yes, you can. Did you read the first post in this topic? 0.2.3 - up to 10, 1.0 versions- up to 99. Do you read tooltips in the program, when you hold the mouse over the Windows 2000/XP/2003 checkbox? -

Nice! Hey, can I use this as Standard Reply #43 (an alternative to my standard reply #32)? http://reboot.pro/2587/page__st__1 I mean, without needing to pay you a fee for this? jaclaz Hmm, I wonder if you could or could not, but perhaps and not definitely sure that could be partially refunded if you subscribe, but even if you don't I am not sure, actually I don't know because you remember last time? -

Yes, you can. Can you use them simultaneously? jaclaz Well, I will answer in your style- something must be wrong somewhere, that could be anywhere but perhaps inf file or maybe it may not be wrong just could be something else. I've asked you once something, just a few posts above, do not expect more answers from me until you start putting at least a little effort when you are asking questions or providing information about your problems. -

Thank you.Syslinux lacks some grub4dos specific options. If you have syslinux MBR in mind you can modify the USB stick putting syslinux MBR on it afterwards and chainload grub4dos grub.exe from it: http://diddy.boot-land.net/grub4dos/files/install_linux.htm#linux1 Re-download the archive, whichever that is. I've just downloaded 1.0 beta7 and opened it just fine in 7-zip 9.20.
