  1. Great work with nLite =) I'm a big fan of it. However, I see that you have "boot.bin" which is the boot image for the windows image. I was wondering if this was copyright'd/what licence is it under? I ask because I'm trying to develop something similar to nLite and not having to extract the boot image would be a great help. Regards
  2. Using a VM machine (M$oft Virtual PC or soething)... and this is my CDimage command line.... cdimage.exe -lXPs -h -n -d -b..\..\BOOT.bin -o -m ..\..\ C:\XPs.iso
  3. Titles really says it all... What is the benefits of doing each of them? I guess DupFiles - save on disk space.... Same with CabMerge? I dunno - whats why Im asking you guys....

  5. How can I add a bootscreen to this!? not using the boot.ini trick!?
  6. My new boot screen! IT will not show! My Question is: How do I make a multiboot XP Setup disk, with a custom bootscreen, not using boot.ini trick!
  7. Hey! I have change my boot screen via boot.ini...but I wish to integrate it now! I know that you cant use same boot screen for each SP, so I made one for them all! I have a VM which uses a single core, but my PC which I use has dual (both less than 3GB) therefore the files effect are NTKRNLMP & NTOSKRNL... *also uses RVMUpdatePack2.1.11 & DriverPacks* Short version ModifyPE & compress my kernals. rename & move my uncompressed kernals into \i386\driver.cab rename & move my compress kernals into the boot bit as well as \i386\ I start off running nLite (here is a bit of Nlite.ini for HomeSP1 (which this bit is the same for all of them!) [Options] CABMerge <<<<---- This right? DupeFiles TargetPath = "XP" temp_dir = %windir%\Temp NoWmpComp NoKeepCp RemoveMUI AdvTweaks CDPromptRemove NoISOPreset After that I add make the boot stuff bit (here is my layout btw) \XP\HomeSP1 (Setup CD) \XP\HomeSP2 (Setup CD) \XP\HomeSP3 (Setup CD) \XP\ProSP1 (Setup CD) \XP\ProSP2 (Setup CD) \XP\ProSP3 (Setup CD) \XPH1\ (Boot stuff) \XPH2\ (Boot stuff) \XPH3\ (Boot stuff) \XPP1\ (Boot stuff) \XPP2\ (Boot stuff) \XPP3\ (Boot stuff) Next I delete all traces of NTKRNLMP & NTOSKRNL from theses folders above (that is the also the .exe and .ex_) then I ModifyPE MY kernals... ModifyPE.exe singkrnl.exe -c ModifyPE.exe dualkrnl.exe -c Followed by compressing them makecab "SP1\singkrnl.exe" "SP1\singkrnl.ex_" I then extract each driver.cab file with CABARC.EXE X ..\..\XP\HomeSP1\I386\DRIVER.CAB * D:\DriverCABSP1\ Next copy over my new kernal over the old one (also rename it at the same time) copy /Y "Boot_(Disable_System_File_Checker)\SP1\singkrnl.exe" "D:\DriverCABSP1\NTOSKRNL.EXE" /V copy /Y "Boot_(Disable_System_File_Checker)\SP1\dualkrnl.exe" "D:\DriverCABSP1\NTKRNLMP.EXE" /V then compress it back up with cabarc.exe -m LZX:21 N D:\DriverCABSP1.cab D:\DriverCABSP1\* then move the new cab back into the old one... I then repeat this with all the cabs... I them move my compressed new kernals over the old ones in the boot bit and the setup disk (i386)! This isn't working for me! Any ideas what is up!

    nLite + SP3

Hey! I have found that nLite doesn't compress SP3.cab into drivers like it does with SP1.cab and SP2.cab! It also doesn't remove DOCS, SUPPORT, VALUE folders.... Tho, keep up the good work!
  9. Hey! Any idea why it still (windows start menu) is popping up after install, when I have disabled it? Ta!
  10. Hey! Ive just updated my version (and copied back into it my config file), and added a new bit of software, and now im getting this error! I tired to remove what I added, but it still doesn't work Any ideas? Ta!
  11. Hey! Right, To the point Layout/Settings \XPH1 \XPH2 \XPP1 \XPP2 \XP\HomeSP1 \XP\HomeSP2 \XP\ProSP1 \XP\ProSP2 >Using nLite and High compress and merge CABs >Haven't got SP1.CAB or SP2.CAB AT ALL! I have the bootscreens but I cant get them to work Ive tired putting the compressed and uncompressed verison everwhere (in all the XPxx, HomeSPx + ProSPz, driver.CAB) doesn't work! Any ideas? btw I have modiyPE.exe it (the compressed before I makecab it) Thanks
  12. Hello! Can this be done... I have found where alot of the tweaks are stored (nLite.in_), and extracted it into a inf file.... I can see this are registary stuff, but how would I run this on a PC that didn't just wipe and install windows!? how can i run nLite.inf from command line? Thanks --SOme1
  13. Is there a way of running nLite.in_.... My reason for it, is I wish to apply the tweaks without instaling windows! I know I can do but that then just gives me errors saying it cant be found, I tweak the path of nLite, and still I get errors! Any help?
  14. Thanks for the hints! Will keep a backup now! Yea I made batch files for each steps (then another one, to link them all togethor!) <-- Can post any if anyone wants them! Thanks for saying Ive got it right ! :D
  15. Hey! Ok, Could I check that this is the right order to do stuff? (if there is a "right" way to do it!) 1.) Rip Home + Pro SP1 to HDD 2.) Apply SP2 to Home + Pro 3.) Update via RyanVM 4.) Remove/hack about with nLite 5.) Apply DriverPacks 6.) Use/Copy of modded screens 7.) Make multiboot folders 8.) Copy of extra files 9.) Make ISO Just need to know if step 3,4,5 is the right way! Thanking you now! --Some1
  16. Ok When loading from a settings file after applying a sp2 on my XP SP1, options is back to its defults and I have to reload the settings! Unattended -> Auto Updates its selected as defult (from my settings file), but I can still change values about! (untill I re click on disable!) Its a great bit of software! Hope this does't stop because of vista (vLite!) Thanks for making it!
  17. Hey! Thanks for this! I can see alot of hard work has gone into it! Right, im having problems tho. Im trying to put on: XP Pro SP1 + SP2, XP Home SP1 + SP2, with them all tweaked in nLite v1.4b. (I only have Sp1, so I will have to use nLite to slipsttream SP2) Ive tired this. 1.) Ripping Pro + Home to HDD, copying them, renaming them to SP2, ready to be updated. 2.) Applying "create_boot_folder.cmd". Which worked fine! 3.) Then on each of the OSs, did the nLite mods (all fine) but when I came to be trying it out, in the XP setup on ALL the OSs, it was saying alot of files where missing! So then I deleted it all, and switch step 2 & 3 the other way around. This also didn't work, this time on both SP1, it said that "ntkrnlmp.exe" with error code 14 (google didn't help out) and with SP2, it said that please put in a floppy disk into A:, with XPSP2. So when do I apply nLite then? --some1 This is my Last Session.ini: [Main] Env = 1.4 beta - 2.0.50727.42.Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1 Target = Windows XP Home Edition SP:1 - 5.1.2600.1106 - English (United States) [Tasks] Remove Components Unattended Setup Hotfixes and Update Packs Tweaks Options [Components] ;# Keyboards # Albanian keyboard Arabic (101) keyboard Arabic (102) AZERTY keyboard Arabic (102) keyboard Armenian Eastern keyboard Armenian Western keyboard Azeri Cyrillic keyboard Azeri Latin keyboard Belarusian keyboard Belgian (Comma) keyboard Belgian (Period) keyboard Belgian French keyboard Bulgarian (Latin) keyboard Bulgarian keyboard Canadian French (Legacy) keyboard Canadian French keyboard Canadian Multilingual Standard keyboard Chinese (Simplified) - Microsoft Pinyin IME 3.0 keyboard Chinese (Simplified) - NeiMa keyboard Chinese (Simplified) - QuanPin keyboard Chinese (Simplified) - ShuangPin keyboard Chinese (Simplified) - US Keyboard keyboard Chinese (Simplified) - ZhengMa keyboard Chinese (Traditional) - Alphanumeric keyboard Chinese (Traditional) - Array keyboard Chinese (Traditional) - Big5 Code keyboard Chinese (Traditional) - ChangJie keyboard Chinese (Traditional) - DaYi keyboard Chinese (Traditional) - New ChangJie keyboard Chinese (Traditional) - New Phonetic keyboard Chinese (Traditional) - Phonetic keyboard Chinese (Traditional) - Quick keyboard Chinese (Traditional) - Unicode keyboard Chinese (Traditional) - US Keyboard keyboard Croatian keyboard Czech (QWERTY) keyboard Czech keyboard Czech Programmers keyboard Danish keyboard Devanagari - INSCRIPT keyboard Divehi Phonetic keyboard Divehi Typewriter keyboard Dutch keyboard Estonian keyboard Faeroese keyboard Farsi keyboard Finnish keyboard French keyboard FYRO Macedonian keyboard Gaelic keyboard Georgian keyboard German (IBM) keyboard German keyboard Greek (220) keyboard Greek (220) Latin keyboard Greek (319) keyboard Greek (319) Latin keyboard Greek keyboard Greek Latin keyboard Greek Polytonic keyboard Gujarati keyboard Hebrew keyboard Hindi Traditional keyboard Hungarian 101-key keyboard Hungarian keyboard Icelandic keyboard Irish keyboard Italian (142) keyboard Italian keyboard Japanese Input System (MS-IME2002) keyboard Japanese keyboard Kannada keyboard Kazakh keyboard Korean Input System (IME 2000) keyboard Korean keyboard Kyrgyz Cyrillic keyboard Latin American keyboard Latvian (QWERTY) keyboard Latvian keyboard Lithuanian IBM keyboard Lithuanian keyboard Marathi keyboard Mongolian Cyrillic keyboard Norwegian keyboard Polish (214) keyboard Polish (Programmers) keyboard Portuguese (Brazilian ABNT) keyboard Portuguese (Brazilian ABNT2) keyboard Portuguese keyboard Punjabi keyboard Romanian keyboard Russian (Typewriter) keyboard Russian keyboard Serbian (Cyrillic) keyboard Serbian (Latin) keyboard Slovak (QWERTY) keyboard Slovak keyboard Slovenian keyboard Spanish keyboard Spanish Variation keyboard Swedish keyboard Swiss French keyboard Swiss German keyboard Syriac keyboard Syriac Phonetic keyboard Tamil keyboard Tatar keyboard Telugu keyboard Thai Kedmanee (non-ShiftLock) keyboard Thai Kedmanee keyboard Thai Pattachote (non-ShiftLock) keyboard Thai Pattachote keyboard Turkish F keyboard Turkish Q keyboard Ukrainian keyboard United States-Dvorak for left hand keyboard United States-Dvorak for right hand keyboard United States-Dvorak keyboard United States-International keyboard Urdu keyboard US English Table for IBM Arabic 238_L keyboard Uzbek Cyrillic keyboard Vietnamese keyboard ;# Languages # ;Arabic Arabic (Algeria) Arabic (Bahrain) Arabic (Egypt) Arabic (Iraq) Arabic (Jordan) Arabic (Kuwait) Arabic (Lebanon) Arabic (Libya) Arabic (Morocco) Arabic (Oman) Arabic (Qatar) Arabic (Saudi Arabia) Arabic (Syria) Arabic (Tunisia) Arabic (U.A.E.)
